If that pivot bolt uses a 15mm, someone replaced it. Toyota sizes are typically 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, and 22. And maybe some smaller stuff in the interior (haven’t had to deal with that much)
Same procedure for an Avalon of this era (1999-2004). My AC squeals when I start the car, at least for a few seconds. Turn the AC off, the squeal quits. Once the car has run for a couple of minutes, the squeal goes away for the rest of the time I am driving. Annoying enough for me to check out how to change the belt. :) I did a belt on a 2000 Navigator so I am pretty confident I can do this one. Thanks for the video!
This installation is a huge pain in the ass. A bunch of bolts to loosen and mess with, loosening the alternator just to change a belt . what a terrible design
@@terrybo5924 Not exactly. You literally have to loosen the mounting bolts on the alternator and then undo the pinch bolt before adjusting the belt tension with the adjustment bolt. I have this Camry, a Ford Focus and a VW GTI. So in comparison, with the Ford Focus you use a very skinny serpentine belt wrench from above. Or get underneath the car, remove a plastic cover and then use a wrench to turn the belt tensioner (no adjustment necessary). Or with the GTI you just use a breaker bar and a socket on the tensioner and pull towards you to relieve tension (no adjustment necessary) But I admit I didn’t understand how the tensioner works on the Camry and I had just finished bending my adjustment bolt and buying a new one when I wrote that comment. I thought we were just loosening the mounting bolts in order to get the belt on and off and I tightened the alternator bolts back before attempting to tighten the belt adjustment bolt. Knowing what I know now, replacing the belt on this Camry would take 15-30 minutes and you have to either use a belt tensioning meter, or just try to estimate how tight the belt needs to be. Replacing the belt on the Ford Focus: 5 minutes or 20 minutes, depending on if you have a serpentine belt wrench that fits in the small space. GTI: 5 minutes
Thank you!!! Towards the end of the video, ya showed HOW THE PINCH BOLT was to fit in the tensioner piece, PRICELESS, seriously saved my butt, and for that Thank you a million kind sir...had to change a belt on my moms car,n saved her a couple 💯 im sure
Hi , is there a shorter alternative belt for this 2azfe engine , like my ac compressor not working , can I place a shorter drive belt to drive the car without ac
