Welcome to Chris's Beer Reviews. This channel was set up as I found a passion for Craft Beers. After a while of drinking craft beers I decided to take the next step which was to review them and share them with as many people as possible.
Now I am not saying there is anything wrong with drinking mainstream lagers and they certainly have a place, however what I would say is there are many better lagers available from craft brewers, but yes they are a bit more expensive.
But it's not just about lagers there are stunning stouts, ales, IPA's, sours, and many more fantastic beers out there.
Over the last few years there have been some cracking craft beers available in supermarkets, so it's fantastic craft beers are available to everyone.
I won't just be reviewing craft beers, I will review all beers from all places, and occasionally I will do the odd food review.

Fosters is the Big Mac of lagers. It’s not for everyone, there are better alternatives but you know what you’re going to get and is generally inoffensive. Carling is a Filet o Fish that’s been pulled from the bottom of the bin

pouring a wheat beer correctly is extremely important, slowly tilt the bottle from bottom to top and finally swirl the bottle slightly to loosen the yeast that has settled on the bottom of the bottle and pour the rest
Thats a tough choice! The thing with Brewdog is you know you are gonna get a crap beer, but NM are close behind them with the offerings they are putting out at the moment.
I hate their Elvis Juice in cans, even before changing abv and changing it back again I didn't like it, but I like the original beer in bottles. Tried a 660ml bottle recently from Home Bargains, was surprisingly good. I don't understand what happens at brewdog.
This is really good... I've found the Schlenkerla weiss to be too TCP-like, the regular lager OK but this is a standout offering. The sweetness in this reminded me of peated whisky and the finish was just as persistent. I paid €4.09 in Ireland, even better value considering Irish prices are often substantially higher than the UK.
Orkney Brewery are a solid Brewery. Skull Splitter is a fantastic drinking experience which ive had numerous times. I hope you bought a few of them Chris..
I do enjoy this quite a bit but only as an occasional treat; it's also worth noting that Tonka beans are banned in some countries due to liver damage in high doses (irony 😅). Supermarkets really need to start putting quality bottled stouts on the shelves instead of just pricey craft ones as my local supermarket only offers 4 terrible choices & yet the darks are always the first kegs to run out at local ale festivals.
I don’t particularly want anything new every time I have a drink, I’m done with chasing the next thing every time. I’m more than happy to have great tasting beers again and again
Nice video Chris but WTF has happened to Northern Monk? Even their more expensive stuff is crap these days - the new Tiny Rebel and not sure how they can be happy with what they put out??
Just tried the Czech Pilsner and totally agree about the aggressive mouthfill. I love Pilsners but this one is far too dry. Not sure if i got a bad old bottle but wont be getting it again.
I like it, 1st time not so much, but then i got used to it and now i drink it alot and its 1.50 for a pint can by me😂😂,... what do you mean im a tight bastard who'll drink anything?😂😂
I always felt the recipes are close but not quite; I'm not really a fan of either. The new Old Midnight Hen stout is worth a go if you can find it but, again, it's very similar to Belhaven Black (I think the only change is an addition of oats). Most Greene King beers are way better on tap though & the old golden hen in particular is an excellent beer that's worlds away from the bottle if you can get a good clean pint of it.
Could sup it all day at a barbecue and not get tanked up (but still don't drive), or make shandy and it would be like shandy bass, bitter flavour with barely any alcohol as bitter shandy tastes better than lager shandy
When I used to go camping a chef was one of my buddy's and he always put brown sauce all over meat before fire cooking it said it's full of herbs and spices easy to carry and quick 👍
I’d say it’s a very close comparison to the regular Guinness got a some the other week and was very surprised how it tasted I’d buy it again as a tee total option.
They sell the 1897 in 4 pack cans in Aldi now. I usually quite enjoy Aldi beers but their 1897 is a really weird one and not good in my opinion. You should revisit it or maybe not 😂
Think this is Guinness extract blending with cheaper locally brewed Sorghum beer. It makes a Guinness that is affordable for certain markets where the real stuff would be too expensive
You should try the fierce beer dipa hop property from aldi £1.89 per can. Was absolutely amazing and the sediment at the bottom was like nothing i have ever seen in a craft beer before
Beamish is impossible to get in England. Murphys was widely available in Asda up until a few years ago. My local does have Murphys on tap so I'll take that!
Aldi sold Murphy’s as recently as 2022 but I don’t think they do anymore. However the UK Murphy’s cans are brewed in the UK which is a bit of a bummer. Beamish is the superior stout imho
