What's happening Guys?! I'm Joey and this is my MotoVlog Channel. I'm looking for subscribers who aren't afraid of long rides down windy mountain roads in the heart of Southwest Virginia. I can provide you with dad jokes and random commentary that you never asked for. Let's gas up, gear down and see where it gets us (;
I previously had a 2009 Dyna Fat Bob. It was my upgrade from a Sportster 883. I loved that Fat Bob and like you, was not a big fan of the newer Softail Fat Bob when it first came out. But, the more and more I saw them, I really began to like them. I moved and sold the 2009 Fat Bob. Picked up another Sportster and remembered why I loved the Fat Bob so much. I started looking for a Dyna Fat Bob but kept going back to the Softail Fat Bob. Finally got a 2023 Fat Bob 114 and absolutely love it.
For this price... speedo is not acceptable. Not waterproof? Wtf? There is no issue with speedo in cheap bikes but it is in expensive HD... joke. I would buy it but no man.. if you can find shit like this in machine that is 2x more £££ than some proper adv like bmw f 850 gsa or whathever... with all comfort, tech etc.. you would expect HD to do perfect quality of evrything considering lack of everything anyway... all this bike have is torque and make u feel cool... but is it enough to be able to make S H I T speedo? No.
So, I guess I was served up this vid, as I've been getting ideas for the '21 "Obese Robert" sitting in my garage... I think a lot of people have the same experience, buying one of these... My story: A few days before my B-Day, my wife asked me what I wanted to do, one weekend... I made the silly comment "Well, we could go look around at the Harley dealership"... Long story short, wasn't planning on buying a bike, test rode the FXFBS, and here I am, with one sitting next to an '08 Sporty.... Heh... One question, for you, and hoping you see this question: Where did you get the mirror extensions?
On Amazon I believe. They were designed for another Harley model (I don’t remember which one) so I had I file it down in a couple spots to fit. If I find the link I’ll update this comment
@@TheMrEdmonds Thanks a bunch. That’s been one of the few things I’ve not been too wild about, with the bike, not being able to really see anything in the mirrors. Thanks for the link. Be safe out on the roads!
I hate the rear brake pedal. Hate the look and don't care for the angle. Bought mine used with some mini floorboards, and it makes me have to move my foot to get any real pressure on the rear brake. It might be the floorboards. Just ordered a new brake arm from Crossthread Cycle and a peg from Trask.
Grew up in No. VA and then spent most of my military carer in the Northeast. Moved to the Southwest days after retirement. Just bought a '19 Fat Bob and love it. Especially with the extended riding season.
Probably not. At the price, dropping it would be too much of a concern for me. The power and weight isn’t unmanageable, but I would suggest starting on something smaller and already beat up a bit
I've had 9 HDs over 30 years. I was in the dealership last year (late 2022) trading my M8 Limited in for an ils Sportster 1200 and a huge check to pay off some more toys. Sitting on and NOT buying the exact bike and colors you have here was an act of sheer willpower. Man that's a sweet bike!!! But.. the hot tub was already ordered, a tax bill was waiting... and i walked out with a paid for sportster too... so i kept saying it was ok, lol. Maybe.....
Stock mirrors, but you have to get a mirror extension kit, either from HD or I got mine from Amazon. HD is probably the better route with better quality.
Near the beginning, when you were leaving Wal-Mart and approached the Sheetz intersection.... I paused it. I KNOW that intersection. You still have the Fat Bob? I've been debating one among other bikes. Black Bear had one I sat on a few months back and it's kind of stuck with me.
I sold it a few months ago. Had a baby on the way and needed the extra cash for a baby hauler lol. I loved that bike though. I hated to let go of it but my daughter has been worth it so far ☺️. Maybe in another year or two I’ll get another bike but only time will tell.
I have a fat bob too, and I did a review so far on my channel. My biggest complaint would be the mirrors, of wich at just over 6ft look directly at my forearms. Leg room is perfect... but 2 or 3 inches taller than me would probably become an issue.
Cool bike I to have done alot of business with black bear harley bought 2 bikes from them a 2001 ultra classic and a sportster from them great guys love them great video just subbed
Take that stock header gut the cat at the collector weld it back looks stock and amazing performance and sound out of those Rinehart pipes easy 8 hp and 10 fp tork
Leve it a 114 cut the cats out of the pipe re weld it it looks stock ad a 475 cam you got 132 hp and 140 tork and it will move great improvements to this bike
Got a baby on the way! I needed to sell her for a new baby hauler. I’ve been meaning to make a explanation video but life has just been getting in the way
@@TheMrEdmonds congrats man, I got number 4 on the way. Once I pay off a couple more bills I plan on getting another bike and starting a channel, right now I'm torn between the fatbob, low rider s, or the slim.
Am looking to buy a fat bob 114,would love to change the stock pipes and lose thae rear number plate bracket thats attatched to the swingarm.....ur bike sounds sweet!
Honestly I never rode dirt bikes. But I have ridden small Motorcycles. The fat bob handles pretty well considering the weight and tire size. Low speed is where all of that is noticeable. But even then it has a fairly low center of gravity so it doesn't tend to tip over compared to touring Motorcycles with large fairings and saddle bags.
You spoke of the exact reason I want this bike. I'm looking for comfort and performance. For me the best part of riding is fast curvy roads. I originally started out on sport bikes. However I bought an Iron 1200 and I am now hooked on HD torque. I'm supposed to be trading the 2020 Iron in on a 2022 Fat Bob next weekend. It's a lot of money involved in the deal. I hope responsible decision making escapes me next weekend and I end up a new owner of this beast.
Heck yeah man! It's a fun bike, no doubt. And because of the "Harley Davidson" written on it, it'll hold value fairly decent. Just don't let them sell you any extra junk.
@@TheMrEdmonds Thanks. I have set parameters I'm willing to accept from the dealer and costs I'll be refusing to pay. I have already spoke with my credit union for approval on a loan as a secondary finance option. If they can't meet my requirements I'll be riding my Sporty home. I've done a lot of work to it as it is. All LED lighting, stage one, custom grips and pegs, flush mount fuel cap, custom seat etc etc. It won't hurt me one bit to hold the sporty if I have to. I really like it. It just kills me that my skill level of riding exceeds what the sporty is capable of with the poor stock suspension and lack of lean angle dragging parts.
