It's really unique to see how HEART came up with their music 🎶. People don't see the hard work/behind the scenes work that it takes. Besides their raw talent.
Comments and corrections welcome but this song seems similar to Wait for the answer, off the same album title. I wonder if they felt this song was missing something and they kept it in a can only to modify it and release it years later as Wait for the answer? Idk. I like both songs and would seen this song (title?) Released back then.
Fan all these years... why did I not know that Ann Wilson could play piano? Was that because they already had a keyboard player and didn't want to showcase her keyboard talents? That would have been killer.
All of the musicians, except for Nancy, are called "hired guns" or "ringers"; LA Studio Musicians; waiting for the phone to ring. They make very good money doing this. The producers know the ones who are professional and can deliver the goods. Guys like Jeff Pocarro would do multiple sessions in a single day. He's on So many LPs.
To say they are just studio musicians takes away from who they really are and what they've done. You should have done the research. When you do you'll see your errors.
Hanleyk - You are wrong with this lineup. Drums: Denny Carmassi Bass: Mark Andes (both with long careers before Heart). Keyboard: Howard Leese (the only one who was a session musician before joining Heart in the 70s). This was the lineup of all the hits of the 80s.
Heh, the producer says, "Nancy, can you take off your left boot?" I chuckled, thinking he was making an absurd joke. Then I remembered noticing Nancy keeping time with the 4" spike of her left boot. She was hittin' it so hard that the mic's were picking it up! She kept it on.
I love their 70’s stuff so much more, but I can understand wanting to keep up with the sound of the time. Regardless of the presentation, their songs are always genuine and universal.
