great video and racing story... shame about the DNS..... amazing track - - - we want to do the same sort of track for casual racers for birthdays and events ... it will take a lot of work... but more importantly, we need to find affordable premises in London. We're just small team of 2 with limits. In November we hope to find something when I have more time on my hands.
Ok need some advice. Ive got a carrera go track. Is it tough to pair a better controller with this system? Also considered an ho scale track as well as i had those as a kid in the 80's
Hey bro I'm setting up a digital carrera track but I really like some of the scalextric cars.Would these cars work with a scalextric chip or do I need a carrera chip in the scalextric car or what do I do?
You’ll need a Carrera chip in the Scalextric Car. My recommendation would be to use the Slotit SP43 chip which is for Carrera Digital, it’ll be easier to fit into a Scalextric than an actual Carrera chip will be. Thanks for watching, have fun!
Thank you so much. That hand controller advice was pure gold. We are just starting out with a home dedicated table built scalextric circuit, and we are already up to 12 different cars and I've just now ordered some 45ohm DS controllers. So a big big thank you from Australia
I am in the states but I am looking for a big track with multi lanes 6-8 how does a person buy a large track like I am talking about and where? What am I expected to have to pay?
I suggest you contact a slot car supplier directly. You’ll need to order each and every piece of track individually. Depending on the length of the track you could be looking around ten thousand, more if it’s very long and six or eight lanes.
Man, this is a whole new universe opening up for me. I´m old but never knew this time of pre-RC was still such an elaborate scene. Love it, never stop.
Interesting video but I am a bit lost when it comes to the hand controller replacement you mentioned. I have tried to find them on ebay and only found two both second hand and they appeared to have a mains round pin plug attached to the end of the cable, this also confused me as my Scalextric controllers just plug into the Arc controller track! Could you give me a bit more info and maybe a link or two?
If you’re referring to Parma then there’s every chance they’ll be hard to find now. DS is the modern equivalent for a basic resistor controller. The three pin plugs you mention are standard for clubs in the UK, they’re 2 amp fittings based on old lighting sockets. Not mains! Unfortunately ARC doesn’t allow third party connectivity but if you’re able to source an older scalex powerbase with 3.5mm audio jack sockets then you can buy something like a DS controller that’s already fitted with jack plugs from a retailer. Take a look at Pendle Slot Racing, they carry DS.
Tyres really can be a minefield, I have a video covering some different kinds for 1/32 but it’s quite vague as there’s just too much to cover in detail. There’s so many factors to consider it’s impossible to give general recommendations. Thanks for watching
50 odd years ago, the first thing we bought was more track. And, MORE track. Design a new layout,.. Damn, we're a curve and two straights short. Jump in the car, off to the nearest (rural) town. Rinse and, repeat. Spent as much on petrol, driving to the shop.
Scalextric braid & guide setup are weak not as reliable as carerra. Very annoying setup in my opinion. Scalextric has way more better car selections by far. Carerra all the way for me. I do wish sh carerra would give us an option of solid black shoulders rather than the red & white. Not a fan of the white line either. But carerra is for me.
Thanks, excellent comparison review between the two brands, to my mind both are good! For myself I am happy staying Scalextric but got say will definitely have a go with Carrera at some time in the future, happy racing
"Profesional"... un slot es un juguete, y eso es bonito. Querer ponerse elitista y autodenominarse "pro" sin ganar un sueldo, sólo porque se hacen modificaciones en los coches, es ridículo, y da para que cualquier mecánico se pueda carcajear.
There should be competitions on who can assemble and dissemble ready to put away the quickest!!! Would take a stoner or Elder hours to set up 😂😂😂 but I think simple is a sales pitch!
Im not sure why this video is not as popular with only 6 comments. This is so important when racing on a commercial track. Every gram counts. Thanks for doing this.
Thanks for your comment! I can understand why the average viewer might find this video a little less interesting than some of my others but even I surprised myself with some of the findings made during filming. You’re right, every gram counts! Thanks for watching
I need the Disney Track Sets by Carrera, so i can do a real track, yours is just a street. For Digital too, 10 meters total, for me, how i arrange the track, G Forces, science, running the track on ARM. I suggest Carrera 1.32
owning scalextrix in the past; I find the the carrera cars to be more quality build.(using brass bearings for the axles instead of running them straight through the plastic for example)

They both cost about the same in the U.S., thanks to retailers gouging the prices on TruSpeeds. They're padding in the extortionate international shipping charge they paid and passing that on to customers.
As long as you race like cars then there will be fair. ITs the same with all classes of cars. Parma, Flexie, and so on. Also I miss country of manufacture. Scalextric is made in China, Carrera made in Germany.
