Thanks for checking out my channel. Are you looking to improve your painting? If so, there should be plenty of videos here for you!
My name's Tom. I am a professional artist, and an experienced teacher & demonstrator of nearly 10 years.
On this channel I will be sharing with you everything that I've learnt so far, and that I continue to learn as I go.
This will be in the form of regular tutorials, demonstrations and shorter quick hits of theory that I have found vital in my own painting journey. My aim is to release at least 1 video every two weeks, all though I hope to do more.
The majority of my painting is done in watercolours, but there will be the odd delve into other mediums; and many of the theory topics I cover apply across all mediums and disciplines, so I hope any painters will get something out of my videos.
If all this sounds like it's up your street, then please do subscribe. I've got so much more content planned!!
Shame this isn't available as a standalone, individually priced. I don't want, and can't, afford to pay £14 a month, but I would pay for the occasional session like this one. I don't particularly like working from books either, so that's not really a good alternative for me personally. Lovely work though.
Love the way you explain things, Tom! Your style of painting is so vibrant and alive. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share your expertise on RU-vid!!
Hi Tom, you have given me inspiration to paint by keeping things fresh and fun! I have a broken back and have been ordered to take it easy so your quick bird series is the perfect "take it easy" break I needed😊 Thank you!! You are awesome
Good quick color comments. I love that he doesn't take up hours of your time and he gets right to it! I'm looking for a good green or green mixture that glows and does not dull when it's dry for nature, floral. Preferably more transparent than opaque.
Your book has just been delivered 🤗🤗🤗🤗. Can't wait to start on the tutorials and to try out the Daniel Smith colours that I haven’t got in my collection. Thanks Tom! ❤❤😊😊
I love your work. I intend to start experimenting with water color. Literally decades ago... (50 years) I enjoyed working with art and I want to start again. I love the intensity of your painting and am watching your videos for inspiration. Thanks!
Thanks Tom. Your paintings are beautiful and I love the way you try to simplify the process.i am trying to get my head around wildlife painting, a limited palette and all its complexities.
I love that you have chosen an elephant. To me “watercolour painting” is a huge elephant. I keep trying to understand pieces of it; colour, brushstroke, edges, composition… until you can put them all together, you just can’t understand the elephant. You seem to understand him pretty well!
Haha thank you!! Love this comment. Focusing on them indivisible helps, and eventually they all come together. I often liking to learning to drive (particular manual gears)…there’s a lot to think about at once. And enevitsbly in focusing on area yiu neglect the other - ie going to change gear we forget to steer or check out mirrors - in painting we focus on colour mixing or paint consistency and forget about drawing and tone etc Eventually certain things become second nature, and it all comes together :) Keep going!!:)
Thank you. This shouldn’t be an issue at all, we have members from all over the world. If you are struggling pop an email to support@schoolofwatercolour.co.uk
I miss you (and your paintings) on RU-vid, Tom!!!! :(( If you were in the UK (iirc you weren't), I would have no doubt tried to catch you for some lessons.
The Resplendent Guatemalan Quetzal! My aunt has recently requested my take on this bird for her in a watercolor painting. You made this very powerful. Wonderful job Tom!
Thank you Tom, for this great video. l am new subscriber of your channel. Holbein is my first watercolor set, before discovering QOR, but l still using Holbein. Now, l would like to do some testing for the warm and cool primaries, 2 quick questions…. is Phthalo Blue Green Shade is cool blue or the Yellow Shade is better? What is best substitute for Prussian Blue, as l read they are fuigitive color.
