Hi there! Thank you so much for visiting our ranch in the interior of BC, Canada. My name is Chelsea, and I'm deeply grateful to you for taking time out of your day to spend with me. Here on my channel, I share about our life and farm at the base of our little mountain. I talk about everything I've learned in the past 20 years of homesteading, including gardening, animal husbandry and cooking with homegrown food. I love to create content to answer your questions, so please don't hesitate to ask in the comments section.
Again, thanks so much for stopping by, and if you'd like to follow along on our journey, please subscribe!

I’ve always been curious-what’s the purpose of curing squash? Does it really help with storage, or can you use them before they’re cured? We don’t see squash used much around here, and I’ve never actually known anyone who grows them, so I’m pretty much in the dark on this!
That "acorn" squash looks a lot more like a black futsu squash to me (maybe it's just the footage) which is very different from acorn, dry, chestnut-like flesh and soft skin, a moschata type, an acorn is a pepo
I've cooked collard greens in a pressure cooker with vegetable broth, diced fresh tomatoes, and diced onions. My Dad is a vegetarian. I recall cooking them for about 45 minutes to an hour in the pressure cooker. They were nice and tender. I've also cooked them on the stove in a large pot or Dutch oven. Cook some smoked turkey drumsticks or wings in two cups of water or broth. They should cook for at least an hour or until the meat is tender. Add the collard greens, diced or sliced onions to the pot. Bring to boil and reduce to a simmer. Check for tenderness after about 90 minutes. If they aren't tender, cook for another 45 minutes. Add water or broth if the liquid gets too low. Pot liquor from collard greens is fantastic for sniffles. Corn bread, fried pork chops, baked or fried chicken go really well with them.
If you put a few marbles in the bottom unit of the steamer when your water level gets down you will hear the marbles and know you need to add more water
Beautiful squash harvest ~MY GOODNESS~! I can feel the happiness within you while watching!! 💖 WONDERFUL that your sunflowers have multiple heads just from letting the seeds drop and germinate for next spring. I had planted marigolds and each year they got taller! it was such a delight!! (Southern California) Thank You for Sharing~!💚
I only have grown butternut and account squash. I would love to see how you prep some of these different squashes. And what's the best uses of each squash. ❤
Hi Chelesa , can I. get your salsa recipe please ? I watched your video. but didn't get the measurements. Would please share it with me ? I don't want to mess it up . Thanks Chelsea !
Hi Chelsea🎉😊 Can you please, please pretty please tell me what kind of food processor you have, where your husband got it , most importantly where can I get one. Also, on the Cowboy Candy do you know in lbs how much you used in the first batch? Love ya girl ❤
I wish our Costco had those big mozzarella blocks. Thanks for the tip on putting the cheese in your food processor and then freezing. I find I use our cheese up before the best buy date. Do you freeze it because you don’t have space in your refrigerator?
I usually wipe my squash with vinegar before I store them and have never had much of an issue. Idk about bleach - feels like something that shouldn’t go directly on food… I imagine it would soak through the skin the same way it soaks through our skin?
Great video! I have looked high and low for the dicing implement and can not find it without purchasing a new machine :( Lucky for you to have received it in your machine purchase!
Why don’t yu buy a soda stream yu will have alot of fizzy drinks yu just get the canisters refilled yu can buy extra canisters and just keep them filled ❤
i’ve noticed over the last few hauls when you purchase groceries some is organic and some isn’t. do you prioritize buying organic or prefer to go with the best deal/cheapest?
I don't know how you do it!!! Your gardens look amazing! I have a small garden, it takes me a lot of time to weed then harvest an process but thankful I enjoy the tasks. Our favorite is canned green beans, yes bacon
20:22 Oh dear, please learn to lift using your legs and knees, not straight from your lower back. Future self will be grateful. Especially when lifting forward, away from your body as you do here. The force is the multiplication of the item's weight and the distance to your spine; you're killing your back here.
you can make a 5 gallon bucket with a rod and a piece of conduit on it so it spins. It is the BEST bulk mouse trap. Put a little water in the bottom of bucket. I put a scrap board as a ramp and peanut butter on the conduit. Seems like a lot of work, but it continually catches mice instead of 1 and done like a trap. I have them in my shed and catch 2 and 3 at a time. I think it would do wonders in your cellar
I am also in zone 3b here in Minnesota. My peppers didn't produce well because we had too much rain in June and July and unusually cool weather. The zucchini did well and the eggplant were very prolific. I wish I had more room. I love squash but didn't plant any this year as I had a knee replacement surgery. On aug 20th. I love your harvest videos.
Curious as to what the little old building is on the left at :24 ? I've wanted to ask several times and keep forgetting. I've not watched every one of your videos....but I'm working on that lol Haven't ever heard you mention that building. I've jokingly said for years that our hay equipment belonged to Noah. But hey, it gets the job done and didn't cost us a fortune.
Someone probably asked it before, though I haven't seen it in the comments. But I always wondered, how big are your pantries? I mean length x depth x height. 🙂
I want to know how you take care of your bell pepper plants to produce such large and shiny peppers. Your garden is very lush and gives me a very comfortable feeling.
I have crookneck squash that came back on its own. My? to you is it crossed in my compost pile with pie pumpkin and zucchini. They are huge! Could I just put them on the shelf and keep them?
