That part where it showed Buck and the boys taking that tiger out in a box-- when I read the original 1930 book, I was under the impression that it was raining when that happened; apparently it happened otherwise in this film.
Fist fight no hat coming off,worst pistol shots I've ever seen,dead bodies helping to get them out of the way and spectacular cars exploding as they go over a cliff etc. Used to watch this show on Saturday mornings as a kid. The under belly of that rocket ship must have been tor to shreds from take offs and landings but I loved the design of it.
I wanted to study physics in order to stop another planet from destroying the earth. My father said that all of that stuff was nonsense and forbid me from watching these shows or trying to learn physic because I was too young to understand it.
Basically the same as Dr. Who started off. To teach kids history in the guise of a sci fi program. Dr. Who quickly left it behind after the Daleks showed them the ratings they could get by straight sci fi.
Most of the 1930-ish serials were not polished, but that is a post-retro perspective drawn from today's polished productions. It is a historical view of the times and what was considered suspense. The cars, clothing, homes--all of it a testament of life pre-WWII. This presentation has a few film flaws that are not in others on RU-vid. Oh well...not complaining, just reporting. Love the boxy cars, dirt roads, dusting up as the cars speed along! Precious! :)
