Watching this in 2023, it feels quite impressive even by present standards - exciting to see electric aircraft making progress. But this was from nearly 12 years ago - truly revolutionary then, a very clear retort to those who think electric aircraft would never be feasible. Now 12 years later Harbor Air has a flying prototype electric conversion DHC-2 Beaver on floats, with plans to convert their entire fleet to electric and use them in commercial service. And more recent electric Lazair videos show that the concept has advanced quite a bit - now with four motors it leaps off the water almost absurdly fast.

The water valve on the mixer takes water from the cooling hopper and is used when the engine is working hard. Water injection way before their time. If you have the engine working under load and just open the water valve a little, you should hear the engine change note (quieter) and I am told that it will also be an increase in power. Some more anecdotal evidence to your suggestion. I worked for the Mount Clements Pottery fueling their 24 hr tunnel kilns with oil. The long experienced tenders of the kilns said the kilns fired faster with less fuel on humid days. I also had a small oil fired ceramic kiln and sprayed small amounts water combustion area for more efficient firing.
O.k, but HOW FAR is the RANGE on this thing, AND how long does it take to recharge, whereas a GAS powered plane can travel quite a long way, AND be refueled in a minute, or two. 🤔
Fantastic this electric powered aircraft, although water is not the best environment for electrical circuits. The next step could be a human powered plane (pedals), a flying bicycle. Perhaps it has already been tried and the pilot survived the landing, as the flight itself does not hurt.
