Not sure if this video was picked so you could show your views on grabbed tricks, or ‘things that were a little too much’ for you, as you said in the video. It came across as very sassy, I can’t be sure that was a genuine reaction. If it was, as someone else has commented, I’m not sure we need that lens on skate culture anymore.
I appreciate your comment and glad I can be sassy if I want to. Nothing was scripted, it’s my honest opinion. If I can’t speak my truth then what am I supposed to say? I think you should check my other reviews as well. Let me know if they seem scripted or not the lenses you care to see. I can only speak honestly and reflect yo was not my cup of tea.
Let me comment on BangProof helmet . 1. You picked the wrong size 2. It's not another cheap made EPS helmet that should be replaced after any impact (as it cracks) 3. It's not a so called non newtonian (scam) nor just a high density foam as it will not pass the impact certification 4. It's designed for water sports so far but absorbs as much impact energy as a skate helmet, it's a matter of low temperature tests 5. It's covered with anti cut kevlar Water sports pros love it ❤
Thanks for commenting. I do think I picked the wrong size. It’s far too big. Maybe they will exchange it for me. I hope they make one designed for street skating.
I feel you on some of the tricks, I’m old school lol, my golden years were late 90s shit I can only do like one switch up because that was just not the style when I was jumping on handrails, Back then tru spin had just become the new hot thing. I definitely enjoyed the vid though, while I can’t do any of that I’m loving the creative aspect we are seeing in modern rollerblading, I know lots are crying were is the hammers but I always loved rollerblading for the creative aspects, and like you said the spots were calling out for the out of the box trick selection. I would rather now days watch a vid with crazy weird spots and weird technical tricks than someone doing a long rail or big gap. Even if it does not line up with how I would skate personally, it’s nice to see rollerblading evolve.
What a fire channel I love the fact that you’re 44 and I don’t see any slowing down with your ability. Very inspiring to me to get back into skating off the 20 years off at age 38 so thank you for the inspiration. Do you have a sub from me
I happy you found the channel and are inspired to get blading. My knees might argue with you about slowing down but my heart sits with you. Let’s get it forever!
@@BLADINGonTheBrain I went from pro bodybuilding and that lifestyle to downsizing 50lb over the past year. Why? Because skating is life and that hasn’t changed I just was taking a rest so I could walk around as “one of those meathead types “ 😂. Let’s get it !!!!
I'm tall and heavy, and I like the support a stiff cuff gives, but the Omni cuffs are TOO stiff. There's no give at all, which bruises my ankles. For anyone who has ridden Sebas: Those have the perfect cuff for me. However, I know many people find the cuff too stiff. Well Omni's are even stiffer than that! I did consider removing the cuffs and flap-wheeling down some of the material from the inside of the cuffs. But, because, they're riveted to the boot, I can't even do that
Hey. You can totally remove the rivets and put your Seba cuff on them. The cuff is very stiff at first. It does break in a little. Overall though if you don’t like a stiff cuff I wouldn’t recommend the Omni or Adapt skates. I wouldn’t recommend wearing a skate that hurts your body. I still have foot pain from wearing Valos.
I‘m a tall and heavy guy too (6.3 and 250 lbs) and I have a dynamic way of moving so I am hoping the Omni will do the job for me. Most other skates I have are somehow too soft. I own the old and new Sways, the Mesmer TS2s, the GAWDS 2 TSs and the Blanks. The Blanks are the only ones being stable enough to give enough support, I can ride them with the (pretty good) stock liner. The Mesmers I have to tighten everything up pretty hard then they are ok (the liner is darn good too), Sways and GAWDS need the MyFit crown liner (with stiff plastic inlays). Ordered the Omnis two days ago and I‘m pretty excited how they‘ll fit…..👍🏻🤙🏻
I was having terrible heel pain with the intuition premium liners, so I switched to some MyFit Prime (Sam Croft) liners and that pain is gone. Only pain I still deal with is tenderness where the cuff hits my inner shin. I love the look of them… but think I’d like a softer cuff better.
Dang. I’m sorry to hear of some lingering pain. Perhaps a little heat molding can widen that area. Do you still have the toilet paper rolls that came in the liner? If so you can heat up the boot with those rolls turned lengthwise.
Thanks. It’s crazy to have been working on a trick for years and finally be comfortable enough to miss, not die and then be mad at myself for not doing it perfectly.
@@BLADINGonTheBrain I know that feeling well. I’m jealous of a good back sav, it’s the trick I dislocated my shoulder on so safe to say I won’t be trying it again any time soon lol
Found your channel earlier today. Love the content. How can I get in that slack my g 👀 Edit: I agree with your sentiments on the video. I am a very new skater and have no room to be critique anyone but it’s about that feeling you get from watching the section. I loved this edit from start to finish but it doesn’t give the same vibe as the Colin Kelso edit. We all have preferences and it’s great to be able to discuss them with friends and peers; even if you may disagree.
Thanks for subbing. Please send me an email, bladingonthebrain@gmail.com and I will see about the Slack channel invite. I'm excited to live to view the Colin edit; I hear the vibe is very different.
@@BLADINGonTheBrain I appreciate you. I’ll send that soon just got in from a session so I’m cooling down. And it is a much different vibe. I feel like it’ll be more your speed.
there's a weird underlying vibe of just pure hate and animosity in this reaction, something I didn't know was still a thing within the inline community.
Totally appreciate you saying that. I really wanted to like this video and maybe the song brought my vibe down from the start. Is there a place in this community for alternative thought? I honestly spoke very highly of Sean overall. No hate at all.
As a Musician/Rollerblader and writer of emo music, I get you. Especially down tempo emo music, it just doesn’t shine in a skate video. Crazy to think that I actually toured with this band that is playing on this edit lol. I myself miss the punk rock, upbeat metal skate videos of the past. You just don’t see those anymore. It’s a different type of energy but…eh. Everything comes full circle though and I’m sure people will get tired of these edits and move on lol.
Oh wow. That’s a cool fact you just dropped. Is this band hella tight live? Check out Nils’ latest edit. It has the heavier, rock vibe. I felt the energy in his video.
When I saw that 6 grind switch up on that ledge, my first reaction was my jaw dropped and immediate playback. Your reaction was “why didn’t he grab his foot”??? Dude come on lol.
I honestly would rather see one very cleanly executed switch up than a bunch of flailing around. I wish he had done two grinds with grabs but I realize for what he was doing that was impossible. Still wish he had.
Love you, but I somewhat disagree with your assessment of it. The music fit perfectly & this was edited & filmed so well. This is one of, if not, my favorite edit in several years. That all said, we all have different things we’re looking for from vids.
Love you too and that’s why we can have an actual conversation on this. The filming and editing was tremendous you are so correct. I guess I’ve always devalued that part of the experience to a fault when I watch. Like Dom West and the Vine Street Videos highlight artistic. Same with Cayenne project. They highlight so much of the personalities that it maybe makes more sense to me. I wonder which of the 14 will be my fave.
@@BLADINGonTheBrain I'm curious to see which one ends up being your favorite, I always enjoy hearing the why behind it all. Sometimes, it's just a song you love that was used, sometimes it's a couple of clips, or whatever.
To be fair i was hyped as hell to go out and skate after this edit dropped and spent ages trying to do torque-mak-torque and mak-torque-mak on a ledge just messing about for hours. Seans been one of my favourite skaters since the Truth days though ✌🏼
I love that. I’m a fan of the Truth series too, classic Fish. Plus the comeback. Amazing vids. I think you nailed what’s different. I have no desire to do fast paced tech switch ups. You may never see me do a torque. Hahaha. I’m glad though that this video got you out and skating.
@@BLADINGonTheBrain fish’s sections in those two videos are my favourites. Its what made me start skating USD’s ever since. I do like all the techy stuff, but thats not at all how i skate personally haha. I just try and do the tricks that i know how to do well. I’m not a big switch up skater either. Just fun to try and get out of your comfort zone sometimes trying that stuff and failing miserably 😅
The helmet hat! Such a let down :( I hope more companies invest in different designs to give us more options because that pasta strainer liner thing wasn’t very confidence inspiring 😂. Appreciate the honest review! FWIW the ennui helmet isn’t my favorite either- super lightweight but the elastic band in the back isn’t adjustable and sits really low on my neck. Plus the shape didn’t work for me, even after trying lots of different foam variations.. the protec Bucky is my go-to for low profile comfort.
love the white soul plate and purple accent 👌 did a few oven treatments on my omni, on my 4th and 5th session they felt superb. Really falling in love with these skates.
Thank you. The spot is fun. No rails or transition but a nice spot to work on vocabulary and c ledges. I come here often when I want a curb that will always slide.
