What is freedom if speech really? Every person is free to speak their own opinion in their own words to anyone they want. No one can control what a person says except the person themselves and once words are spoken they can never be taken back and unspoken. Freedom is what freedom is.
For me. It’s just respect. We didn’t grow up quoting our constitution or amendments. I wouldn’t even know what they are lol. Watching that, I thought, our parents said, it’s not nice to say that, you could hurt someone’s feelings. Also common sense comes into it. If I don’t want to be called a derogatory name, I’m definitely not going around calling whoever derogatory names. Or if something is really going to hurt someone, ok, I’ll say it, it’s my freedom of expression - if something u do is going to hurt someone like shooting them, because of something that was written a few hundred years ago - is that OK? Things change. Wear the same clothes, eat the same food, speak as they spoke a few hundred years ago. But we don’t do we. We grow and change. Many things written hundreds of years ago have changed, except one in American - bloody guns. That really hurts someone and their family and community, but let’s never EVER change that. Delete this comment if you like. I have freedom of expression but I don’t mind if someone doesn’t like it - delete it, I’ll live. Someone, a child, children who’ve been shot have less chance of living and using their freedom of speech or expression ever again.
They miss a big part of it, judicial law. These are situations in the past where the topic of so. E one's speach has come up in the courts. The results of the court case then determine if that situation is legal or not. If it's determined that person had the right to say what they did say then its now protected by law unless overwritten by a higher court or government. Instead of one over arching law to free speach which then has to be fought legally to be excluded we have flexibility built into individual examples which is very flexible especially in the modern technology age with internet, smart phones etc.
Aussie here, I can’t even remember the last time I had take away lol. My grandchildren have Maccas for a treat about once a week I think. The fries are too thin for me, only because I’m used to chips aka fries being thicker. Must ask my grandchildren what their favourite Maccas is.
Its funny how American food goes straight through us 😂 I loved American food, the salads were amazballs but everything was too much, we learnt to share
The disgusting hate speech and lies and threats of death etc byTrump and what he is saying about Haitians and other non-white people including Kamala Harris is absolutely not allowed in Australia, and he could very well be arrested for that. Hate speech and harassment is taboo here and will not be tolerated.
@@MrLutzkrieg because American beef is grain fed while Australian is grass fed and why Australia beef is world best and no 1 in world as beef exporters.heard pro chef's say this.
Good choice of topic. Very interesting and an eye opener for countries obsessed with their freedom to say exactly what they want, no matter if it’s true or if it offends.
Are you gonna watch the AFL Grand Final tomorrow? Brisbane made it again you know.... despite their horrible start to the season. You've been missing out on a great season Neal
The law steps in when there is hate speech, disciminatory speech, bullying, intimidation etc because in those cases free speech impinges on anothers right to live in safety.
lol what a load of BS i have sworn at police officers and they do nothing, gets them mad. too much bs lies out there. i even swore at a judge in court lol.. he did nothing and knew i was annoyed at the bs lies the cops said to get me in to court and threw the case out. Australia has more freedoms then USA in a lot of things..
on average a full flush uses about 11 ltrs of water . with 1/2 flush you only use 5 ltrs . that really is saving alot of water and it doesnt compromise any cleaning or health problems . everyone should have them around the world .
well i was born in england and came here when i was 5 . im now 60 , if i invented something now , id say it was an australian invention . as i had no idea what was what when i was 5 . it was only after being here many years that id learned anything . and my environment gave me cause to do things . so id say it was an aussie invention more than an english one . to be honest . where your born , really means nothing . we all live and breath the same . and there are clever ppl in all walks of life . yes some things apply to some and not others . but in general , were all the same . and as long as an invention helps ppl and not hurt them , its all great .
I agree…I was born in Denmark of Danish parents. My DNA is 99% Scandinavian (MyHeritage….so much fun!). But I have lived in Australia since 1972, and became a citizen as a small child….I am Australian. If I should invent something, it will be an Australian invention.
This is such a hauntingly sad, beautiful rendition of the Dire Straits song. Their singing & harmonies are always outstanding. BTW, Tim, Austin & friends do fund raising for at-risk veterans (some excerpts are available on y/t). Thanks for playing this one & your comments.
This so-called Science Journalist is a bit of a joke. Has picked a few inventions to make a joke of - apparently doesn't know of or care about some of the biggest, most important Australian inventions.
Australians have immigrated from ll over the world. Why can't 2 immigrants from Denmark inventing something in Australia be accepted as an Australian invention.
It doesn't cost money if you are going public. I've gone to hospital and its been free. Had a cesarean and stayed for 3 days and that was free. He really needs to say it costs if you are going to a private hospital.
That would be no1 on my bucket list. I’ve loved fighter jets for nearly 40 years now since I went to my first air show at 8year old, and got to sit in an F/A 18 Hornet.🐝

F'ken no more goon for me Dazza. I'm f'ken 54 these days and the last time I thought it would be a good idea to charge on with some goon was Christmas 2019 and I was f'ken crook the whole next day and wonky the day after that. Ok I will admit I'd mixed it up starting on beer then Vodka jellyshots Bundy Rum but it was the Goon that fucked me.

I spent years typing up the patent specifications for the Cochlea hearing implant, but it was only one of the hundreds of inventions that came across my desk up until I retired. Multiply that by the dozens of other IP firms and you could only guess at how many inventions have come out of Australia.
No not a hearing aid. The bionic ear or Cochlear implant is fitted under surgery as part of it goes under the skin. A hearing aid just sits behind the ear.
i started smoking when i was 9 and just before i turned 16 they changed the law to 18 made it harder to buy smokes at 16 than it was at 9. same for pubs and clubs i could get in when i was 15 was harder at 17 because they changed the laws and had to check id.
