I would love stickers and patches! I have a patreon where they have like seasonal cards and stuff, you could definitely do fun things and I would love to be a patron and can't wait for your shop to open!
I don’t know if you tried it or if someone else suggested it but with the paper cutter I would pull the blade towards you. For me I have more power than pushing it away. Also I haven’t used that particular paper cutter but sometimes you have to hold down the paper really tightly so where the crescent shape is would be a good place to hold down. But also sometimes you can get a bad paper cutter. If you’re thinking of buying another one try and get one that’s second hand or for printmakers/bookmakers and also one you can buy replacement blades for or easily sharpen the blade too. I find the little craft ones stop being great after a while. also, can you tighten the blade pulley section? that can help a lot too. I hope you don’t mind my suggestions whether they are helpful or not. It’s so exciting watching you set up your shop and you should definitely start a patreon 😊
@@LetsGetBookedUp this is very helpful advice , I’ll definitly give it a go next time I’m using it ! It would be great not to buy a replacement 🥲 thank you !!!
I don't have enough brain power today to say all the things I thought about commenting while I watched the video, but a few that remained coherent: - Love the corset + bloomers outfit! - I am terribly fond of your signature hairstyle, but it looks super cute when it's down, too. - I'm sorry you've had so much difficulty with the shipping logistics. In this day and age, it really should not be as hard as they're making it. - You're doing great, even if it doesn't always feel like it! We're all so excited to support your dream!
I would absolutely subscribe to your Patreon. I’d been thinking of ways to support you so I’m super glad you’re considering it - even w/o the extra stuff if it stresses you out (but I love the stickers n stuff you sent me before 👻) Also, your curls were adorable during that convo. 🩷Also also, love the Tuna show so much! 😻 - Kada 💗
The outfit is super cute! Shipping is the main stress that has kept me from opening my own small business lol totally feel you there. Also, i went to school for graphic design and printing and printers and paper cutters are STILL the bane of my existence, dont feel too bad about that lmao. I think a sticker club patreon would be so cool! I've seen a lot of artists do that and it's always tempted me lol. I'm so excited for the shop to open!!! My birthday is August 2nd so it feels close enough that I can justify some birthday gifts to myself from your shop hehe. You got this!!! 💖🦇💖
@@stopbeingana-hole4151 it’s good not to feel alone, but I’m sorry you struggle with it too 🥲 we’ll get there eventually, even if it takes us a little longer!! ❤️
I was listening to this while sketching a linocut design and here's a tip : you can do color gradient lino printing using different paint colors. I highly recommend it because it looks so cool ! Also, there’s a Municipal Waste album called Big trouble in little China so I had to double take.
Whoa!!! That’s a great idea - thank you !!! And lol no way! I wonder if they’re related in any way 😯 (also I watched the movie the other night and it stars Kurt Russell, from the Thing, (and directed by John carpenter , of the thing) it’s bizarre. 😂)
Also also - please don’t beat yourself up for feeling stressed and overwhelmed and frustrated about shipping stuff. You’re not stupid, you’re not pathetic, this shit is confusing and complicated. This is your dream and you invested so much money and time and passion into this it can feel really disheartening when you get stuck on the logistics side of this. I’m just glad you have a supportive partner to help talk you through this - I know my partner makes the biggest difference when I’m spiraling about something with vet school. I know we don’t know each other lol but I’m very proud of you and I know you can do this 💜💜💜
@@sarahrussell741 this is honestly so sweet and really supportive 🥺 thank you for the kind words !!! Self compassion is definitly something I would like to work on more in the future - but in the meantime yes having a supportive partner is Incredibly helpful 🥺 I’m glad you also have a support network ❤️ thank you for the encouragement, it genuinely means a lot ❤️
A recommendation I've seen a lot and have been eyeing is Vograce! I hope I spelled it right, but basically it's a art merch supplier for your stickers, print, keychains, etc, with a ton of options! You can order big and small quantities as well. Not sure about their background
@@RattusRattus ohh my gosh okay sorry! I'm like 38 minutes into your video and I was so confused, I probably should have waited until the video was over 💀💀 my bad!
@@DeityDemon no no! I totally phrased it weird I just realized that now too! Thank you for asking - I think it was probably important to clarify!!! 😅❤️🥰
Your cat as a coworker fills me with such warmth <3. My beloved cat would always spend my working hours sat on my left shoulder watching me work on whatever it was I had to do, and it was the most heart warming feeling ever. You are such a good cat parent, and seeing your cat trust you so openly and happily is amazing 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have been struggling for years with trying to figure out how to sell my art. I really appreciate you showing the struggles of being overwhelmed with things especially the shipping aspect of things because that has been the point that I cannot figure out no matter how hard I try and I always end up giving up. I am also in Canada and just can’t wrap my head around how shipping works and can’t find any valuable info online. I’m not sure if you will see this but I would absolutely love if at some point you could put out a video or something just about how to figure out the shipping from Canada it would be so incredibly helpful to lots of people I think (definitely for me!) I love your videos so much and can’t wait to see your website!💗
@@katequinn5895 I really hope you can figure it out too! It’s so stressful but we’ll get there ❤️ IF this method of shopify shipping actually works and is accurate, I will DEFINITLY share , (just a matter of seeing if it actually works 🤞) in the meantime, this is the video that illuminated things (a bit) for me: (though it’s shopify specific) m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nMNgSZknryo.html (I just set everything to be in one zone (everywhere) in my most commonly used box, and put “carrier calculated shipping” so I don’t actually have to calculate anything myself, now to see if it actually is accurate 🤞😅) (how to accurately get envelope shipping cheaper now is my next quest…..)
99 dollars for the shop seems steep to me, and like 400 dollars....? That's a lott of moneyyyy oh my goddness! I'm using Big Cartel and their shipping management is maybe not the best, but it's good enough for me, and the overall cost of having a shop there is really not much at all
@@xXNekou right !!!! So wild. I just hope that the “weight only” calculation will be accurate (ish) - thank you for the comforting tips and advice also, it is very helpful to know I am not alone in the occasional shipping despair 😅😂 (I just hope $38/ month plan will work accurately !) (and like you said, as long as I can adjust and keep track, it’ll work out) 🥰
Do y'all have Buy Nothing groups in your area? People are constantly giving away boxes, seems like it would be great both not to pay for them and not to be using new materials when there are so many used that people are trying to get rid of.
@@ArtichokeHunter I never considered people might post their boxes on those groups!!! You’re so right - I’ll definitely be taking a peek 👌 genius move.
I can definitely relate to the struggles with figuring out the shipping costs. I think it has a learning curve like anything else, and it might be nearly impossible for you to get all the shipping rates right from the start. Once you actually start shipping items out then you see how much this and that costs and then you can adjust the prices accordingly. Don't beat yourself up too much about it, you're definitely not the first and not the last business owner to feel defeated by all the possible shipping issues. :) Personally I have a small shop online and there are times when I slightly overcharge or undercharge for international orders. If you see that you undercharge a bit - well, then it's your cue to adjust the pricing. And if you happen to overcharge a bit - you learn from that too, and you need to remember that theoretically shipping cost should also include the bits that you need to buy/include - the tape, extra stickers, the packaging itself, even the time it took you to pack the order and go to the post office, you know, it's something you will have a better handle on after you deal with it for some time. :)
Just started watching this video!! Can't explain how excited I am, like I said in another comment on a different video, August 21st is my birthday so I'm hoping to get something from your shop as my birthday present this year! Watching the whole video now and sending you all the best vibes for your shop opening!!! 🖤🖤🖤
ive really loved the way u let us into the process of the whole preparation. this is so exciting & im seriously so proud of u, also being very honest with ur struggles too. i related so much to that bit where u said its so hard to ask for support/help/a hug etc when being in need for it (ive been with my partner for 4 years & struggle with this A LOT too so i really hear the frustration that comes with objectivly knowing its ok + good or logically "not so hard" while being caught up all on the floor) i find it really helpful ure being so honest about ur path <3 thank u so much
ahhhhh it is so comforting to know i am not the only one that struggles with that sort of stuff!! (though i am sorry you also struggle with it, because it sucks, but its always nice to know we are not alone in our problems) i was really anxious to share the emotional parts of the video/leave it in but it makes me feel so comforted to know others deal with it too! we will get through it !!!<3 <3 <3 and god i know. Tuna's a real life angel. ;-;
I used to make stickers with Sticker Mule for years now but left so quick when I got that email 😔 Sticker You looks like a good alternative so I’m going to try them next time I need stickers 🤞
@@RattusRattus No problem. Also we’re all so excited for your business to start. We see and appreciate all of the hard work you’re putting into this, especially when you’re doing this all by yourself. You are amazing and inspiring ⭐️🌟
I’m so excited for your shop been watching you for years And I completely feel you on the coping mechanisms I always struggle on picking them cause I won’t know if they work until the moment but you got this and I’m super excited for all your stuff
Just going through this again and if you need, I’m free to help a bit with the Canadian tax stuff too! Luckily i work with our tax team at work and I have to learn about tax in my classes so if you have any general questions, lmk! I think I’m kinda qualified to answer some stuff ☺️
I love the idea of a sticker/patch club for a patreon! I agree with the digital content being harder to maintain - plus so much of the time I forget to even check it.
@@Alice_Addams13 was definitely considering it! I think the issue is the paper I wanna print on is so thick you need like a Super Special Printer to be able to make it go two sided 😔. At least for the single sided stuff (like patch packs, thank u notes) I think pink cardstock is a great idea!!! Appreciate the advice ❤️
For faux blood I would just reccomend trying to make your own with sugar syrup and food dye, that way you can get the best color you want and control the ingredients more to make sure its vegan! I am not entirely sure how makeup-able this is but its edible, you can control the thickness when you basically dissolve sugar (more sugar = thicker etc) for a precise recipe I would look up simple syrup! I hope this helps! 🫶
@@Baghead03 ah yes! My main reason for not doing this in the past is I find it SO stainy 😭 if anyone has recommendations for non-staining food colouring please lemme know!!! I’ve only tried the grocery store one so far and it was. A mess 😅 Thank you for the advice though!!! I think this is definitly a good call if I can just find the right food colouring 🤔
@RattusRattus I'm pretty sure there are also recipes that uses coffee grain ( if you want that darker color ). If wonder if mixing a bit of red dye with some coffee would make it less stainy since there would be less food dye? Other wild idea would be to use something like strawberrie jam for the color/ texture 🤔
Loving to see you grow your dreams. Hope we all people out of US get to buy someway :D. Have been so busy but this video gets me so happy cause I know that in my next free days I'll have a lot of content to see with popcorn and just relax!
The Clutterbug system has changed my life. I'm a ladybug like Cassie herself, and when she showed how she keeps her clothes, it shocked me to the core. She uses Ikea's Kallax. Each type of clothing has its own drawer and does not need to be folded. You just throw a T-shirt with other T-shirts and that's it! I've been using this system for about 5 years now and my clothes have never been better organized.
Cass is a genius. I really want to see if Caige will use a similar system for his side of the closet!! I’m going to show him this comment - he’s a Total butterfly and many of his clothes end up in a pile on the shelves anyway, so putting in a bin to catch them feels so logical! (Not to throw him under the bus - he’s a very good egg lol)
I need to figure out how to make the sewing machine work... I know how to use a sewing machine, I just haven't used one in years and I don't know how to use the one I currently have access to
is G1 frankie non binary? I thought G1 frankie was a cis and G3 frankie was nonbinary? I use they/her pronouns but i didn’t know G1 was nonbinary aswell!!
