Many tabla solo stalwarts lack the right temperament and patience to accompany vocal classical. They want to make their presence felt at the expense of the overall impact of the performance. To accompany vocal is a different skill. Unfortunately the tabla sangat is quite irritating here at times. The good thing is that it's not as bad as some other stalwarts who excel in tabla solo but make a mess out of a vocal classical performance.

“Before the Zhabdrung’s era, Western Bhutanese who spoke Dzongkha wore Tibetan attire. Later, Zhabdrung changed this to create a unique identity, distinguishing Bhutan from Tibet and the rest of the Himalayas. This differentiation was essential to avoid claims from Tibet, and I feel proud of this unique culture introduced by Zhabdrung Rinpoche. It is one of the reasons we remain blessed and independent. The caste system was mostly prevalent among Western Bhutanese. In my village, we were not allowed to marry tribals and lower-caste Tibetans. However, I don’t believe in such restrictions, and my wife is Bhutia. My parents easily allowed me to marry her because they believed we share the same origin but with different attire, as mentioned earlier. If our dress had remained unchanged, we would be identical. We understand Bhutia culture about 90%.”
আপনার বাংলা গানে রাগের প্রভাবের সিরীজ খুব ভালো লাগলো। আপনি উল্লেখ করেছেন - বিলায়েত-আলী আকবর-ভীমসেন-রবিশঙ্কর-জশরাজ সকলেই রাগ ধানী পরিবেশন করেছেন। আমি যদি ভুল শুনে না থাকি তাহলে এটাই বলতে চেয়েছেন তো? কিন্তু আমার যতদূর জানা আছে এঁনাদের কোনো রেকর্ডিং বাজারে নেই যাতে রাগ ধানী সম্পূর্ণরূপে পরিবেশিত হয়েছে; তর্কের খাতিরে বলতে পারি 'আমার সংগ্রহে' নেই। আপনি যদি দয়া করে উক্ত পাঁচজনের রেকর্ডিং-এর লিঙ্ক দেন আমি উপকৃত হই। জবাবের প্রতীক্ষায় রইলাম।
This is how khayals should be sung. He is not like other pundits who start teaching the audience while singing. Pt. Venkatesh concentrates only on himself and his singing. He is by far the best now.
দাদা আমি বাংলাদেশ থেকে বলছি। আমার নাম মোঃ আজাদ, ঢাকা থেকে বলছি। আমার জীবনে বহু ছবি দেখছি, বহু পরিচালক দেখছি কিন্তু আপনার মতন এত মন মানসিকতার ব্যক্তি দেখিনি। বাস্তব কিছু তুলে আনার মত মন মানসিকতা যে আপনারা আছে- আপনাকে অনেক ধন্যবাদ। আশা করি এই ধরনের মন-মানসিকতা বড় বড় পরিচালকদের হয় না। দাদা জীবনে টাকাটাকে বড় মনে কইরেন না। তবেই আপনাকে বড় মনে করবে সমাজ। তবে আমি সাধারণ বাংলাদেশি একজন ব্যক্তি হিসেবে পরিচালক হিসাবে আপনাকে ধন্যবাদ জানানোর ভাষা আমার জানা নাই। আবারো অনুরোধ করবো এই ধরনের ছবি বানানোর মন মানসিকতা হারিয়ে ফেলবেন না। ছবিটা আসলে বাস্তব জীবনের একটা ছবি।
