Speaking of the end of an era here in the Bay Area we've lost an easy 50+ dealer/scholars - from our Cheyenne pony beaded pipe bags , Washoe degikup baskets to Chumash treasure baskets, all 40+ monthly & yearly shows, all monthly & bi-annual auctios, all galleries, all University, public & private museums all dealer meet-ups, house shows our endless hilarious hang outs to complain about to many auctions & shows (many of which occurred simultaneously & even the gun shows being swamped with baskets) the jewelry dealers walking the aisles of plane's --- the show's in public parks - it was a glorious time now lost to a new world of nothingness...
I grew up around Christianity, and playing Nintendo games at home. #1 tip for any and every situation where you feel like youre missing something or hitting a wall or it feels like youre in a catch 22: When in doubt, look up. Look up at the art. Look up for the secret button. Look up at the bright side in a bad situation. Look up at your elders for advice. Ain't them clouds purty?
Well it’s the fault of the people who buy native jewelries, etc. from the tribes in the Philippines because it’s cheaper for them and would later sell them as from native Americans with higher prices. I am from an indigenous tribe in the Philippines and it’s these kind of people that makes me mad for using us but they also motivate me to preserve and promote our native practices and cultural heritage. Excuse my English, it’s not my language
I have never seen this. To this day I am stunned by how many paintings she created over her lifetime and how many I have never seen. I loved her as a student and today I feel that love and admiration 100xs more. She was a genius. Her painting are perfection. This is gorgeous simplicity. Life nature often is. Thank you, Mark!
I believe I have a Navajo Yei wool rug. What are the indicators of a fake”? It was in my mom’s old house. Which was built in the 1800. I’ve always felt drawn to it but until recently was unsure of the significance or meaning behind it. I just started doing some research. Would love any help!

Thank you for pointing that out. I believe it’s important to tell people to remind people that we may have come here to build a new country but this was their country first. They welcomed us until, of course, we got greedy and judged them as savages just because their way wasn’t the European way. Same as the Hispanic people. They were the original people of the west. And the white man came and took over the lands. Why? Because we could. So remember all you anti immigrants who the actual immigrants are and start thanking them for allowing us to be here. I’m so sick and tired of all the rhetoric about this so called replacement theory because we are the ones that replaced them. Happy 4th of July. Let’s hope this isn’t the last one we celebrate as a free nation.
Thank you for sharing this video. Yes. There is nothing wrong with purchasing jewelry made in other countries. Just NOT that which is "Representated" as Native American Indian "Made".
