This is golden good Sir! Thank you. Looks great too! Im in the process of building something similar, not as nice looking as yours, but hopefully as efficient. My sleep has suffered for as long as i can remember and Im ready to change that as I too am a hot sleeper. We have the temp at 67 degrees at night and my body becomes a furnace under the covers. I'm either too hot or too cold and nothing in between so I toss and turn all night. I bought a duct fan on amazon at 195 CFM with a plastic duct to run under the covers and have an extension cord that has a sliding adjustable setting. Im praying it works. I can no longer afford to have poor quality sleep as it affects my day to day.
@andyshank7379 what type of oil did you use? Just curious. I know the filter worked. But I’m just wondering as an owner of one of these junk cars what you used! Thanks
Eco trash Timing chain out of tension until oil pressure gets there Don’t worry soon enough the guide will fall apart and the pistons will meet the valves or if your lucky the head gasket will go out and you will be able to change the chain guides and tensioner then that will buy you another 70,000 miles
The noise referenced in the video was resolved with replacing the oil filter with one that is equipped with an anti-drainback valve. This keeps the oil from draining from the top end of the engine. On a filter without the anti-drainback valve the noise would go away after oil reaches the top side of the engine. I did not want to cause wear and tear, so replacing the filter with the correct one resolved my issue.
@@andyshank7379 The Cruze 1.4 oil filter housing is made by HENGST® which means it is already equipped with an anti-drain back valve.. If you have that filter on now the oil is flowing without being filtered.. replace it immediately Your problem was the type of oil, the viscosity was too high
I confirmed the oil filter I originally installed was in fact not equipped with an anti-drainback valve. After replacing it with the correct oil filter from AC Delco the concern was resolved. Oil viscosity was not the root cause of the issue. Dexos Approved AC Delco engine oil was the only oil ever used on it at the time of the condition. Again, oil filter corrected my issue and the oil had no impact to the resolution. @@GadGetHackss
Iv heard that they are. I don’t own this Cruze anymore. Got rid of it many years ago. Have no idea if it’s still on the road or not these days. It’s about 10 years old now.
@@andyshank7379 idk I’m going to have to check cos I just got a oil change and don’t no what filter they used .. it not the same exact noise but it like a errr for one second on a cold start but I need someone to start it so I can actually be under the hood I no it coming from like the front right of the engine I hope it ain’t something to do with the timing chain.. and I also got oil seaping out of the cover gasket I think that’s bad so I got to replace that also .. and I ran into a freakin spark plug with a heli coil on it cos the guy stripped it before .. I pray that I can jus get the same exact heli coil and a new spark plug and that it screws in there
I gonna totally make one of these after my Bed Jet pukes. Bed Jets DO NOT last long before the motor burns up. Can’t repair, I tried! I’m on my 3rd one in six yrs. They make it impossible to find the mega cheap made in china motor to fix. And Bed Jets warranty sucks! Thanks!
@@andyshank7379 hey so you are familiar with your belt tensioner spring yea? mine is seemingly normal most days but maybe once a week I'll be idling in the driveway and hear it go off. I only got a chance to inspect it during sounding off one time. the spring just compresses and relaxes like over and over super fast. I'm not sure why it does this, do you think it's normal or maybe I need to replace something worn? I mean it's fast, it sounds like a bad lifter or something is why I noticed it cuz its going so fast and ticky sounding. but I finally seen it that one day and realized it's that spring by my pulley system just going crazy every once in a while
It’s holding up really well! I’m still using it daily and really love having it during the hot Texas summers. Good luck with your build and reach out if you have questions. 👍
I'm building my own setup, just ordering parts now. My wife likes to sleep under a blanket year-round so it'll just be for her side of the bed; I'm happy to sleep with just a sheet in the summer. Bedjet sells their flat hose accessory for $50 as a standalone without having to purchase an entire system (I'm also buying their overpriced $99 twin sheet that's designed to receive the nozzle from their hoses). This is much less work and no sharp metal near the bed for probably the same (or less) cost as all that 30g sheet metal. Between the flat hose connection point and a basic 120V Amazon 195-CFM 4" fan I plan to cut two 4" round holes in an small hard-shell cooler so it can be filled with varying amounts of refreezable ice packs. This allows for additional cooling at a level we can experiment with and vary depending on the house temperature . . . happy wife happy life. Although my setup will be different I appreciate your ingenuity and sharing your way of coming up with a solution.
I’m sure you could, I just chose to place it there. Depends on how far away you want the fan from the bed. The further you go, the more powerful fan you’ll need. You’ll also be less likely to hide it. If appearance is not a concern, then put the fan wherever you want to.
I learned from another video that duvet covers can be used instead of the Cloud Sheet since it has button closures and a pocket to put the BedJet head into (much cheaper than buying the Cloud Sheet itself). I like the idea of that since the air flow would be more evenly distributed instead of just on my feet/legs... but that leads me into a question - Do you know of a flatter head that I can use to replicate the head on the BedJet? I imagine I need that "flat duck billed" shape that they use in order to fit it inside the pockets of the duvet cover so I can seal it up, either that or I need to reduce the 4" opening down and then fit something more wide and thin on.
Andy - thanks for sharing the video! How many cfms does the 6 inch fan put out ? Pressure high enough to overcome the weight of the comforter and get good distribution of air? Thanks again.
Lowes lists it at 160 CFM. It is not going to lift heavy quilts/blankets. But it does push air up around your legs when the blanket is over you. You’d need to get a stronger in-line fan if you want it to really push air to lift up a blanket. This one won’t be doing that, it’s not strong enough. But I have never been dissatisfied with mine so far.
Awesome! Let me know how it turns out, I may upgrade my online fan to this one as iv considered it for awhile. At the moment though, mine continues to work well and I love it!
Apologies for leaving that detail out. Yes. The vent has been positioned open. I was able to open it and it clicked into position and has remained open without further intervention.
Resolved: I reviewed a GM symptom diagnostic flow chart for noise on startup that only lasts a few seconds. The solution was really simple. Last oil change I installed a WIX oil filter that didn’t come equipped with an anti drain back valve. I installed an OEM ACDelco oil filter and the concern has not returned since.

This concern was resolved with an OEM oil filter many years ago. Perhaps changes were made since then. But my concern no longer occurred after the OEM filter was replaced. The oil was correct for the unit.
My 2014 so nds exactly like that, but constant! I just changed the PCV system, the purge valve, vacuum hoses, coil and plugs within the last 2 weeks. Still making that freeking rattle noise. I change the oil using Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30 and matching filter
right now it's 6 degrees Fahrenheit my Ranger speedometer started this yesterday is a 94 says I'm doing 55 miles an hour when really I'm more round 40-35. when truck sits in warm garage thaws out it returns to normal operation. Im sure its the speedo thats faulty since its electric.
Sorry for the length: I work for Ford Motor Company now as a Technical Support Analyst for their Technical Assistance Center in Dearborn MI. So that being said, I now know tons about these vehicles. This particular model (Ranger/B Series) uses a cable driven speedometer. The speedometer is connected to the transmission by means of a flexible shaft (core), and a drive gear located inside the transmission. The core drives the speedometer which registers speed in miles per hour. It also drives an odometer which records distance traveled in miles and tenths of a mile. (Also in kilometers and tenths of a kilometer for Canadian vehicles). All vehicles have a vehicle speed sensor (VSS) (9E731) attached to the transmission. This is used to sense vehicle speed required for the engine management system and to regulate the speed control system for vehicles so equipped. Some of the testing we do for this is: Check speedometer cable and housing assembly for kinks or bends in the routing. Check speedometer and cable housing for rough or irregular motion. While speedometer cable and housing assembly is disconnected at transmission, check drive tip square for wear. CHECK VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR Check vehicle speed sensor for erratic or noisy operation. Check that shaft in sensor turns freely. CHECK DRIVEN GEAR Check driven gear for damage, wear or use of incorrect parts. CHECK SPEEDOMETER Disconnect speedometer cable and housing and check that magnet shaft in speedometer turns freely by rotating with a short section of cable core. I never did get around to fixing it. But based upon the symptom you are having I suspect you either have a cluster issue, cable issue, sensor issue, or the speedometer drive gear in the transmission is the root cause. I sold the truck to my Uncle. So I'm sure it still does it. Its still a tank though and running strong. Over 220,000 miles on it now. So they're good little pickups. If you feel like fixing it, theres some good info to get you started. :)
