I seriously don’t get how the speedrunning community for this game is so small when it’s got such a cool and glitch filled any% route, more than some of the most popular speedrun games out there. Not to mention this game was very good/well received and had really high sales across the board. Incredible WR!
just opened steam, drunk asf. had an update for this game and remembered how fucking fun and cool this game was. decided to look up the speedruns for it and man this is truly something, insane how people find this stuff. good shit man this is sick.
That is called PE, or Pocket Elevator. When you press F11 multiple times during certain animations, Cal will start oscillating upward and downward back and fourth. You can look at where he is for a brief second and if he's high enough above the loading trigger we want to hit, you force push, which updates Cal's position. So we jump or double jump, then at the right time at the end of that animation as he lands, start doing F11's in rythem. Takes a lot of practice and quick timing to push at the right time. It can also crash the game if you go too high!
Jesus christ this run is crazy. I know this might be stupid to say but like some sort of explanation of why ur going to certain areas would be sick. Id love to know what all the techniques for this run were.
Thanks! We just found a slightly faster route that changes things a bit so it's outdated, but I do have a full tutorial on this channel if you want some insight into the smaller tricks and stuff!
Thank you! We're a pretty small community, yeah. We have a discord, there's probably 20 or less active runners. I'm hopeful the game will get more action sometime in the future!
@@Slash687 Nope it still works and on all platforms. It's a glitch carried over from the first game, Fallen Order. In the game all you have to do is have opened photo mode once while the game is open, then either pause menu on console or hit f11 on PC and it'll phase you while the game lags!
I'm sorry, it really works that way, because in the new game, not in the new game + I had perks that, according to the developer, should only be in the new game+, so I think the colors of the sword are there too. Once again, I deeply apologize and congratulate you on the record
Crazy that this could have been a sub8 coruscant if you got lamp jump first try. & I didn't know about that pNFT spot / OOB area after hidden grate launch!
@@angelo9176 sometimes certain pbcs will require more lag. if you're on pc, try playing on fullscreen rather than windowed fullscreen, and if you're on console, try tabbing back and forth for a bit in the pause menu
There are a few other ways, one is a launch. I'd join the discord in the description and ask in Ask-For-Help in there. We have stuff collected in clips about a few other options!
A few updates about a month after this tutorial has been made: At 15:22, we do Meat Room skip. The runner ZMoneyTrain actually found a faster method that uses pNFT here. Check the Discord to see how, it saves about 10-15 seconds since we don't have to wait for the elevator. At 20:10 when we do the Koboh pNFT, try to land on the medpoint, sit at it first, then run over to the elevator controls to save some time. For 24:26 Forest Skip, again ZMoney has found a trick that really helps with this launch in particular. We don't have a name for it but if you are in midair during a launch and lightsaber swing, then immediately Force Push, you will cancel all your forward momentum. This is super handy for Forest Skip, because often we need our double jump to land in the trigger, so not having to use it to cancel momentum is huge. At 28:04, we also don't have to do Balloon jump anymore. It is still the fastest method, but if you don't want your run to end, what you can actually do is jump up on the Relter, but immediately do a u-turn to the left and fly it over towards the balloon. Then, occasionally press drop to have the Relter maintain altitude. Simply fly it over the edge, and down to the Nekko Pools medpoint. This works because we have gone over a trigger with Forest Skip that usually makes the Relter despawn once you drop from it, but now it is there infinitely which lets us take it over the cliff. Check the discord or the latest WR to see it in action! And finally for 31:30, the Early Tanalor Dev cutscene skip, we still don't have a consistent setup, but runner abgncheqcpjdam found a slightly more useful setup where you walk around the loading trigger in the middle of the tower room and over to the consoles. You'll get the prompt to interact before the screen triggers, then you can try spamming pause from there as Cal walks in. Why you'd want to do this is less factors to control, since you don't have to also make Cal move while spamming pause. Good luck!
Did you make sure to enable photomode once before attempting any of the PBC's? Opening start menu then going into photo mode once? Let me check the link and try to update it! You can also find the link on the speedrun page for the game: www.speedrun.com/jedisurvivor
I want to say the Series S is the weaker between the S and X, right? One of the consoles has a much harder time with all the PBC related tech in the run, including the SNJ. I would join our discord and ask the helpful people there! We have a few xbox runners.
@@thegameguy7553 i didn't know had been optimized like pbcing on the mantis and just a bunch of optimizations that weren't there (or i just never noticed) last time i gave this game some serious attempts
Hey Charlie, not sure how else to reach you. Couple things: 1. Turn on the UI centering dot in the accessibility settings. 2. In the middle of the grate there is an invisible wall, you want to press up against that until you cant move. 3. Push, immediately buffer a jump, then you double F11 (PBC) and disable slow mode at the same time (PBC - Pause Buffer Clip) 4. The loading zone to get the elevator to load is bigger than you think, just kinda precise trick with all the variables Good luck, and may the force be with you
Thanks for pointing that out, thought I had changed it already. WR is now about 20 seconds faster than this, which was achieved by Jiti 15 days ago. I'd be back on the grind for the record, but Baldur's Gate 3 is out... :)@@NoEphingIdea
if i may ask how do you do this at 3:50. i have not seen it in either strats videos or what i have found in strats discussion thread on the discord server.
Yeah! So it's basically the same as the meat launch from the same grate. But right after you pbc you start swinging your saber and if you time it right, Cal gets an extra extra boost. Also have to time the jump correctly (right after you push you jump) and then Cal's vertical height in the air won't be too low or too high.
0:49 well how do you make you kal “”I make mine pretend he is a chimpanzee for the first part of the game”” tell me you don’t see it now that I’ve pointed out his unarmed dash looks like a chimp running.
The you must be unfamiliar with speedruning! That is why categories exist. This is Any%, which means anything goes to achieve the fastest time. If you care about it being glitchless, take a look at the "glitchless" category, which is currently around a 3.5 hour run.
