Fantastic video! So, how is your okuma revenger pro doing since your purchase? I also would like to know if this reel will be good for spinning? Thanks
Nicely done. I'm going to try a similar project, but add wheels possibly. Just a few questions. The rivets at the top of the shoulder straps look like they might dig into your shoulders in the way you had the metal plate positioned? Do the metal L plates on the hip belt not dig into your sides ? Is that a 40l tub ?
Hi buddy, yes i have actually. The footage of that trip is actually reserved for my friend. He is a catch cook ambassador and will probably feature me in his next catch cook if he has enough footage.
Hi Buddy, may i know what's is the size of the bucket?? As im planning to get it done someday. And do you think Meiho Bucket Mouth 9000, can be installed this DIY H frame??
Hi there thanks still getting to grips with editing step by step. Getting all the supporting equipment etc but im trying when i have spare time, not easy with work and a small one lol. Thanks for the support
Hi buddy thanks appreciate the feedback. Yes i definitely am pro Gama slim hook yet strong and the form of the hook is also a bit different, love it when using worm baits mostly. Never tried bkk, different masala for different people hey😉
For sure buddy. I also like taking a fish home every now and then. But one in every 5 or so sessions is more than enough. And i will refrain from taking home undersize and breeding stock.
Thanks a mil much appreciated would like to see a video how you keep your tackle box organised and what you take with on a trip you know that sort of thing
Hahahaha im still struggling with that keeping it organised part... After fishing everything is mixed lol... But i can see if i have a solution. Would benefit me too. And thank you,.. I will be doing a video on what you need when going out on fishing trip, coz there are stuff that can seriously hinder youre trip if you forget them at home.
Awesome video. Are you able to include a bait presentation your videos. Sure the chokka strips is simple enough, but it would add clarity too. A friend mine always uses a small home made dangle. Got a beautiful Geelbek. Im gonna try dangles too.
Hi buddy thanks for the positive feedback, much appreciated. I will do that possibly within the next two weeks. If im lucky i only get to the water say 3-4 times in a month. And i started my videos in the poor time of the month haha so hopefully next week i can upload one. Th3 chokka strips is so simple and really not anything like those fancy chokka prepped baits that one see guys doing from the beach... To my experience, kob between the reef dont still look at youre bait too long they just smash it. Where as from the surf presentation is much more important. The strips, not hammered works for me, if the kob are there the dont leave it on the plate. Stay tuned thank you.
Chat to Kegan of Fishing republic. Ive never had much luck anywhere else than the reefs (Langrif mostly). You can try Die Eiland and / or Shark rock (careful of this spot).
Hey buddy, yes what Brent said is good advice. To add to that you can try the spot behind the tidal pool in beach road, also the area between ocean basket and harmony park on low tide or high tide from the beach... Check water temp and that water has atleast slight colour in it... Prawn and chokka even wonderwurm will be good baits to target kolstert and even kob. The seasons are changing now very soon we will be having the excitement of winter edibles. Heres my number if you wanto talk on whatsapp regarding more in detail talk. 071 173 1768
Hi Vernon, nice video and concept. It might be a good idea to use thin rope or coloured line to display the knots, as the line you are using is not that visible on camera. Keep on making those videos boet!
Thanks much appreciated. Thanks for the tip. I was thinking the same thing. Something thicker amd brighter for illustrative purposes. I will do a short video on the knots that i predominantly use in my traces aswell as the snell of a hook. My lighting is also not up to scratch, for the moment making due with what i have. Have a great day further.
Hi there Stuart. My pleasure. Firstly what grinder are you using? And secondly i would say if you are throwing chokka bait for kob or elf on strand reefs then anything from 10ft rod would work. Although i prefer 12ft-14ft just to have a little more height on my rod to be able to bring my sinker over the reefs and not get stuck as easily. Im using a daiwa bg 5000 grinder paired with a loomis&franklin archipelago rod 12ft xh. It has a casting weight rating of 1,5-4ounces. I would say a daiwa bg 4500,or 5000size is perfect or if you are going shimano a 8000 or 10000 size will be good, or if you are using a rovex big boss the 6000 size will be perfect... Do note that between the brands of reels the sizes differ, for instance a daiwa bg5000 will be about the same size(in terms of line capacity) as a 8000 or 10000 shimano reel.
A great budget option would be the adrenalin tripple x 13ft spin rod which you can pick up secondhand for anything between 800 to 1000 bucks, and the rovex big boss 6000 grinder retails at 1000bucks +-. That would be a great setup and not as expencive.
@@keepitsimplefishing6164 Thanks Vernon for all the info. That's a HUGE help. I'm will have to get back to on my gear. Not sure the specs. Where's the best place to buy? Somerset Sport?
You can support Kegan Matthys from fishing republic in strand, across the municipal swimming pool in beach road. He has alot of knowledge and experience on fishing and gear. Otherwise you can phone around between fishing republic and somerset sport and Jacitas bait and tackle in brackenfell... I personally only make use of Jacitas bait and tackle and Fishing Republic.
Yes ive had mine for a few months now, for under 500bucks its really not that bad, aslong as you look after it and dont overload it with what you are targeting it should be fine. I have that reel and a daiwa bg 5000 which is currently being serviced. Happy with both of them.. Please if you have any other querries on topics tackle or fishing related dont be shy to ask and ill try my best to try and cover it in a video.
Hey buddy thank you. Yes im looking to tackle those small details that everyone look past but its yet so important. Still struggling to be the best behind the camera but in due time im sure ill get better. Thanks for watching.
