Have you tried the BIN Aqua? It sticks like the red tin Bin, but it's water based instead of shellac. I use it on Melamine wardrobes as a first coat before Caparol or Tikurilla. Try a tin - key test it. I use it instead of 123 now.
what is the instrument you used for scraping at around 2:00?. need to know what it is called so can buy. I have same exact issue. Also my wood is warped a bit too. Any suggestions?
I think this could attract a lot of criticism from some corners. The Selemix 2k Brigade. The Only Spray Faction. The Adhesion Primer Unit (who would say that 123 isn’t as good as etc etc) but I think decorating is about respecting that there’s many ways to achieve a good outcome and maintaining a budget/profit 👍 I’m proud to be a decorator and sometimes I earn £500 a day and sometimes I do it for £100.
Painters have always painted windows plastic are just a lot easier than wood. You can spray for ridiculous amounts of money or just paint them. Nothing lasts even spray. At least painting they can be touched up or recoated with no massive cost. Thanks 👍. Love being a painter and decorator.
I actually painted a plastic window with oil based satin coat. Sets harder than gloss, it's still good 3 years later..oil based settles nicely, no brush marks, though I imagine yours will be even better.. good work
putting your good work aside for a moment. your camera work was pretty good, I mean showing the gloss finish beside you taking it off with the scotch cloth and sliding the object up and down we can see what you are achieving I think was pretty neat.👍
Any exterior paint from masonry, Matt, satin or gloss. Seal the surface first plenty of stabilisers in the shops. Under coat before gloss everything else two three coats. Thanks
@@PaintingandDecorating It's already painted but need to repaint. I have searched for satin and gloss paint online but only Dulux, Johnstones are coming but all saying only for wood and metal.
Great video. Any thoughts on why my white uvpc sill has developed a motley light brown effect? Have used a restorer which faded it but did not last long.
Thank you, there can be a few reasons for some plastic to fail. The sun is the worst and water sitting on the sill doesn't help. Trees and algae and also over cleaning can wear the plastic sill. Sometimes water running down walls can pick up contamination and stain sills.
@@PaintingandDecorating Many thanks, the sill is South facing so gets sun most of the day, when it shines! Maybe I have overcleand with a cream like restorer, any suggestions as an alternative?
There is joy to be had when you get into “ the zone” of ‘cutting in’ with a good flowing paint…time seems to stop for that moment…(which could be hours)
Great job well done 👍 I’m a decorator 35 years you did it spot on but please do yourself a favour and buy some proform contractor brushes they are a game changer And I’ve used them all trust me. Including acorn eagle 27 Harris super Hamilton perfection plus
Another cracking bit of prep. You cant beat a bit of Zinsser, The whole range is amazing. I have been using the new BIN aqua on knotts and no bleed through 😊 Again amazing products.
Hi guys , great video as always 👍 , i painted 2 x double garage UPVC doors 4 years ago , using a similar system but i 240 grade sandpapered them, washed/cleaned with meths to degrease , applied 1 coat zinsser BIN123 & 2 coats dulux oil based opaque RAL 7016 leaving 2 days between each coat & to this day still looks as good as new 👌🙏
I'm on a big job, and just now stopped for a cup of tea and a sandwich and even though I am also a painter and decorator and people think I'm nuts to watch painting videos after I've been painting all morning, but I got to tell you my friend I learned so much from you guys and your channel is made a huge difference in my business thanks again for sharing the tips on the windows, do the exact same process except I wipe them down with methyl hydrate (which I'm almost positive I learned from one or you two Gentlemen). I know painting plastic is sort of lousy, but done right, the paint sticks like crazy and they always look much better. Thanks again for all your help and another great resource/reference for anyone who needs a 100% expert advisor and trusted resource. You two are the Best.
Was thinking doing mine but was a bit put off about it being a disaster. Hope i can see the end result & it may give me the push. Do you have any tips if the pvc is damaged? Can normal filler be used?
Well it won't come off as it's well bonded to the plastic. But how white and marks and stains I don't really know. It's exterior water based and new ground to me. Oil is been faded out. Oil between 5 and 10 years. Water based could last a lot longer with it's new technology. Thanks
Yes colder than normal but it's only a blip. Summer is somewhere 🤔 as long as you do the preparation well it should bond so it won't come off or chip. Thanks 👍
Again it's all preparation wash and sand may be wet and dry. You need to remove the shiny surface on tiles. And a good primer Zinsser bin or 123 thanks 👍
Great job. The primer looks a bit full of brush strokes (not your fault) so do you have to lightly rub down the primer to smooth these out before applying the final top coat ? Many thanks 👍🏼
To be fair most water based finishes leave more brush marks than oil. But any white primer on a dark surface will show all the brush marks. As you build up the coats to 4 it all sits back and looks okay. You do give a light sand in between coats this also helps. Thanks
@@PaintingandDecorating many thanks for your reply. Hope you didn’t think I was being critical of your great work. Your channel is excellent and has helped me many times👍🏼. Is it two coats of primer and two coats of top coat ? Thanks All the best.
No not at all but it needs explaining. One primer and then one undercoat followed by two satin coats. I don't think they will look solid enough with 3 coats. Thanks
It does help it depends how damp an area is. It stops condensation sitting on cold walls and speeds up the heating of a room and holds heat for longer l. Good stuff
