During Operation Rheinübung, when Bisnarck set sail on the high seas, the swastikas were painted over with gray paint. But the fresh paint had been washed away by the sea and weather, and part of it was attempted by the sailors to restore it on Lutjens's order on the morning of 26 May to restore the aircraft's markings.
I always found it ironic that the Frogfoot factory was in Tblisi, Georgia, an enemy of modern-day Russia. How does anyone get replacement parts for their fleet of Su-25s?
The German navy had beautiful battle ships Bismarck and Tirpitz and heavy cruisers. There's definitely a fine art in building Battleships in WWll and Germany set the Standard.

Nice build my friend. You have done great job of tackling this kit. May I offer some advice. Marham tornados were largely stored in hangers or hardened aircraft shelters and as such did not fade like your paint depicts. The only time I have seen aircraft so faded are when in long term outdoor storage. RAF tornados didn't get so dirty either because of how they were stored and regular cleaning. Dirty Tornados were of course seen during the first gulf war deployment. The other thing to consider is that in 1983 this aircraft was brand new. I may be wrong, but I don't think they had the pod under the nose until a bit later on.
Thanks for the tip, yes I know about my weathered tornado, but I like to paint more worn models for a better look at the model. I don't really like the solid color, even though I know these planes have been well taken care of. 😉
Does Zvezda also produce a two-seat version? I don't think so, that's why I bought this. Also, it's an old Czechoslovak kit and I'm from the Czech Republic, and I bought it as a tribute to the company that could make this in the eighties.
The PE parts are thinner than those supplied in the kit and where they are flat, the engraving of the paneling was very weak, so they will definitely help in terms of appearance😉
Excellent and beautiful work, but in real life you cant paint in yellow the top of the turrets, because this make the turrets an easy target from the air.
the yellow towers were an identifying mark for the Luftwaffe. Admiral Lütjens is said to have given the order for his own aircraft to be painted. He thought the ship would sail to France under air support. He didn't know he was going to get hit in the rudder. To this day, it is not known whether this order was carried out, as the towers are upside down. It's a hotly debated topic. 🤪😉
because it is old, schematic, with the wrong instructions, the parts do not fit together at all and it took a lot of modeling skill to make a nice airplane out of it :-D
