I love this series. Not sure if you still do this. But 5'6" plus size, double curve Natural Romantic. Blue Spring. Still exploring essences, but I'd say Romantic, ingenue, natural. Maybe a hint of ethereal. Restaurant manager, so comfort and movement are key.
That dress 👗 is stunning on you! I see you first bc everything harmonizes with you. Color is the first thing the eye notices, not shape, not pattern, not line. Think about a stop sign. You see red first, not octagon. I didn't realize that you hadn't had a color analysis when you were dressing as a Dark Winter (neutral cool). I couldn't figure out why something wasn't quite right. 😕 Now the Bright 🌞 Spring ✨️ colors (neutral warm) really make you shine! The Bright Spring has the warm yellow of Spring "neutralized" with the cool red of Winter. I know it's hard to up the chroma. You feel too flashy at first bc not used to it. I dressed as a Soft Summer but turns out I'm a Light ☀️ Summer and had to go brighter. Still a neutral cool season but the cool blue of Summer is "neutralized" with the warm yellow of Spring. Versus Soft Summer where the cool blue of Summer is "neutralized" with the warm orange of Autumn 🍂 It makes for a totally different color 🎨 palette.
I just wish someone else did it for me, I honestly can’t be bothered, I don’t know how to do fashion, Too many rules, Too complicated. I feel like natural but I am short but not gamine or ingenue or whatever…and not romantic either. Still enjoyed the video though 😊
@@Gabriellearrudadesign That's awesome! Can't wait to see this next stage of your style evolution 😊 The bright spring colours are looking great on you!
I’m sorry, but you’re more like a natural dominant Ingenue. I read a lot of the comments and I completely agree you are not a romantic romantic style seem to look cost to me and more like the clothing was wearing you
@Gabrielle Arruda Which type is you? And could you please do a video how you typed yourself. I’m really struggling with type if myself, I can’t even see me as a mix of two.
I’m almost sure I have gamine essence, but I struggle so much with clothing, anything that goes out of my body outline looks huge and weird same goes for things that are too fitting. Is that usually the case for gamines?
Ive been draped as a Blue Spring Natural Romamtic through House of Color. But when i took my test, Im very yin. I still feel i have some angelic essence in there. If we had to get technical, i feel more woodland fairy 😆 i love long flowy dresses, but in a green with browns. More natutal elements with an ethereal essense.
Hello Gabrielle, greetings from Germany. I'm glad I found your site and I'm already in the starting blocks to discover my personal style. Your videos are very interesting and varied. Big compliment to you! While researching, I found Louise Follain's website, which is celebrated as the "new" Birkin in France….But you probably already know it? I think you also have a certain resemblance to her, you're doing fabulously! Kind regards from Cologne, Sabine
Oooh I really like your points. As someone with 2 conflicting main interest in style..I really liked the points on expanding on out preferred style and understanding it. Thank you
It's interesting....I guessed two of your essences right but the last one I didn't and I was like... Nop, Is definitely not that one hahahaha and curiously enough, I think your face has lots of ethereal, but the ethereal clothes don't look as cool on you as your first essences.
I re watched the video and I was wrong, I didn't say Dramatic I thought the other one was classic, Romantic was evident, Classic was also pretty close for me because you look very elegant and it suits you too. The third essence I had chosen was Ingenue, but then I thought "The why does she look so awesome in that second gamine dress too?"
Exploring style for bipoc can be such a frustrating experience because most analysis for western style is centered on white features and white American cultural/European concepts of femininity. But I'm noticing a lot of us are figuring it out more easily now because there are communities of us who share what we've learned. Realizing I'm not an autumn was huge for me (haven't been professionally typed but I did trial and error with makeup since that's my special interest), and I think Makhosi and I came across the same Reddit thread about Kibbe and biwoc! :)
How would type: Liya Kebede Yityish Titi Aynaw Hanan Tarik Fryat Yemane Meron Getnet Zahara Jolie Pitt Tahounia Rubel Dennenesch Zoudé Amleset Muchie Ruth Negga Because often African women are typed bt white people as dramatics yet the fact that Ethiopian dress is an ethereal flowing white dress of transparent gauze surely indicates that they can't all be dramatic
Thank you for this video. I’ve been typed by John Kitchener and have 40% Romantic essence (but wasn’t sure how to incorporate it). What about warm weather Romantic outfits (Summer/Spring)? I think John was referring to the fabric itself saying ‘I long to be touched’ because of its soft tactile appearance. He is not suggesting the person wearing it ‘longs to be touched’. Also, I’m shocked you think gypsy and exotic are considered offensive? Must be an American thing? Being called exotic is a compliment here. It means you seem interesting, worldly and intriguing. We eat food from all over the world so WHY can’t wear clothing from all over the world? 😉😊👍👍🇦🇺 Australia
If I have a pretty basic white, cotton, button up, pointy collared blouse, would that be considered pretty Yang? And if I had it in a soft pastel color, would that would make it more yin? In the end would it be considered blended? (Or equal yin/yang)
Yeah, that’s it, I’m giving up on shopping. If I’m not supposed to settle for whatever garbage the fashion industry is selling and I don’t have the money to pay for a top that costs more than a plane ticket then shopping isn’t for me. I’m going to invest invest in a fucking sewing machine and make my dream style come true.
I would be interested to see a video on the differences between inverted essence/kibbe combinations. For example, what a Kibbe Natural with Classic essence would wear vs a Kibbe Classic with Natural essence.
We definitely need more females creating style systems. Systems that are more inclusive and less from the viewpoint of the male gaze. I would be grateful for some more input regarding different life stages and ages. Both of you have already really helped me - a 60 year old. At my age, I also have the advantage of being able to look at clothes that I wore in the past - the mistakes, which usually involved me following fashion (the 80s wasn’t a great time for ethereals 😬) and the wins (so that’s why those long, flowing dresses looked so good!) I decided 2 years ago to go grey/white, which also made me reflect on my current style. Turns out that soft summer, soft dramatic, ethereal, looks quite good with long white curls. I’ve ordered Ellie-Jean’s book and can’t wait to read it. ❤❤
Aw I keep hoping to see me! Maybe if you do another video one day you can include: Kibbe Dramatic, thick long brown curly hair seems to contradict the dramatic styling i see, and I lean retro 70s, romantic with long dresses, casual/street/ I wear jeans/tees the most. I am a 50 yr old art teacher so like to feel colorful and unique, but not too out there because I'm teaching. Also, layering is hard here in the tropics! Anyway subscribing!!
