Mr. Rudd, good evening. Would you please be kind enough and tell me where to buy it? I really need it because of my health problems. Thank you. Julian Ibanez 04/26/2023
I have had this unit for a year now and it makes putting it on the centre stand a "no brainer". After breaking my foot, I bought this and use it to mount the centre stand up on a plate of steel to prevent driveway damage. Highly recommend this unit
The one I made just had two hooks on it to grab the stand arm and after I got it up on the centerstand I just put it in a saddlebag. Quick and easy, no assembly required.
The way that lever extension comes flying forward when the bike comes down... If you aren't paying attention and your leg is in the way, that's going to be a powerful crack in your calf or shin. I'd definitely remove that bar as soon as I set the bike up. If you aren't setting the bike up properly, you aren't going to get it up even if you put 300 lbs on this device or not. Once I figured out how to put my GW up, it became very easy.
I've heard about these Phil on the goldwing motorcycle club . Can this be adapted to a 98 GL1500. I have a very hard time getting my bike up on the center stand. One..the bike is far heavier than I can lift with my foot.. Two.. the center stand legs are off balance leaning to the right. And.last..how do.i get your center stand helper?
No problem getting it on the stand when bike is MT. Before a trip I weighed all the stuff in the bags and my Tourmaster back seat luggage bag. 50 lbs of stuff in my 2 saddle bags and trunk. Tourmaster bag another 50 pounds. This tool would be handy for that scenario. Even with out the Tourmaster bag with just the 50 pounds in the bags all the way at the back of the bike it is super hard to get on stand. Remove the 50 pounds from the bags and bike goes right up.
Last September, my foot slipped off the centre stand and I broke the bone in my heel and tore all the ligaments in my right foot. Had I had one of these installed, I am confident that would NOT have happened. At 75, I don't heal like I did when I was 20, and seven months later I'm still limping... I installed Fred's unit today, and it makes getting my 2003 GL1800 up on the centre stand very easy, even with a piece of steel beneath it to protect the driveway from the weight of the bike. I'm 6'2' and 220 lbs, and that's still no guarantee your foot won't slip. This unit makes a real difference for me and makes me comfortable it won't happen again. But as the saying goes..." I'm closing the gate after the horse is gone...."
