I make videos about games I like: RPGs, Point & Click adventures, Survival/Crafting, & Turn-Based Strategy.

I also stream regularly over on Twitch (under the same name). Feel free to stop by and chat with me anytime!
I never know what I'll be in the mood to create, whether it's a longer "let's play" series edited from my live streams, Short silly videos to stir up some laughter, or heck, maybe even a review here and there. There's likely going to be something for you here (as long as you don't mind a little bit of foul language and dirty humor). Life is too short to be serious all the time, and far too interesting to shove myself into a tiny little box in order to play nice with the algorithms that dictate much of our modern digital lives.

maybe its because i never play old games but recently i was playing fallout 1 and it was genuinely quite a pain since its an older game with kinda bad designs and also maybe because i played new vegas before this the dialogue option was also quite weird like how it was scripted. like suppose i learnt of the ignua cannibal scandal or if i learned about vance kidnapping children because they are in the back i cannot just report them to the police there is some dumb ahh dialogue about oh me being scared or what not. idk maybe its cuz i was losing it on the game before but the game design is bad. the AP system is such a chore like you need 5 points to shoot a gun meanwhile your enemies sometimes can shoot 3 times in a row. the best strat in the game is either getting power armour so nothing fazes you and get good weapons but in early game just hide behind ian and dogmeat and sneak in some shots. i need to try fallout 2 now but yes fallout 1 was kinda bad
@M1cromanag3r
@M1cromanag3r 6 дней назад
Sounds like the game just isn't something you'll ever enjoy. And I'd say don't bother with 2. It will be more of the same. The AP is well handled IMO it's just a matter of balancing usage, positioning, etc. And the enemies do have just as restrictive AP usage. Juat certain monsters' attacks cost less AP (as do some weapons). But with a decent build those extra attacks shouldnt be an issue, and you can beat the game without the power armor (though having it makes encounters with super mutants much less challenging) The biggest issue with the game is without reading the manual or watching a guide video, you're likely to make poor choices when building. Some starting traits, as well as perk when leveling, aren't made equal. But again if the old-school feel and jank out you off, I wouldn't go into 2 expecting a vast improvement. I'm currently in my INT 1 run of Fallout 2 and I'd say it's harder than 1

Great video, I basically agree with everything. Didn't know about that last point though (the spoilery one). A real shame cause that's exactly what I did and was thinking in my first (still unfinished) playthrough, which I decided would be the most morally good playthrough I could imagine. Still love the game though. And I completely agree with it essentially having ruined every other RPG as well. BG3 has become my standard now and I'm not sure how long it'll take before I find something that lives up to it.

Thanks. I have always had a bit of a high standard when it comes to RPGs. (and VERY picky about what l consider is actually an RPG at times) I'm kind of an "old RPG hipster" tho I really dislike the term. I was very familiar with Larian, having played nearly every game of theirs since 2002, and knew they were a good pick to carry the name of a classic that I loved (and still do) All in all, I'm excited to see what Larian is cooking up for us next. They stated they have 2 RPGs in the works, but after BG3, they have set some pretty high standards for themselves and the expectations of those players who just discovered they enjoy cRPGs

@@M1cromanag3r Agreed, most supposed RPGs released these days seem more like semi-RPGs or not even that, in my humble opinion. I don't care too much about it but it's certainly a bit confusing at times, which can be slightly annoying.😅 But yes, looking forward to Larian's next projects. Especially the one that's supposed to dwarf all previous RPGs. Sounds ambitious, but Larian has shown they can do ambitious projects well. Hope they live up to the now very high standards.

Fallout 1, Soldiers of Fortune, X-COM - all of these may seem clunky by today's standards, but at the time they were all revolutionary. People have to realize that before Fallout (and the like from the era) PC gaming was often very rudimentary and clunky. When Fallout hit the scene, it had a vision and granularity that couldn't be matched. There's a reason why Fallout persists when SO MANY franchises from the era either died or are hanging on by a thread.

I literally dropped Fallout 1 yesterday. I was doing caravan missions, and some encounters are just plain fucking unfair. I had like 8 + raiders spawn in armors, they had to have ridiculously high Sequence stat, cause all I could do was just watch them taking turns after turns, demolishing my party while I couldn't do anything and had to wait for my turn. It felt bad and shitty. I'm like level 8 or 9, have one skill maxed out (small guns) and had some difficult encounters before, but nothing that would felt as unfair as those caravans. I'm past the first major quest (the timers gone) and I was getting excited about finally not have to stress about it and explorethe world on my own pace. Question though how can you put a frag in someones pocket to kill them? I manage to pickpocket and place the frags but they never went of. Do you do it with Trap skill or am I doing something wrong?
@M1cromanag3r
@M1cromanag3r 16 дней назад
Sadly, grenades don't work this way as far as I know. But I believe it CAN be done with an explosive with a timer. (The plastic explosive or dynamite) Honestly, the caravan missions aren't the best, but it's odd that the encounters are that rough at your level. (Granted its been YEARS since I even bothered with them) I'm curious what your build is at this point (stats, tagged skills, and their %, and perks) And yes, getting the water chip and thus getting that monkey off your back that is the timer.

@bigwhiteshogun oof. Yeah, I can see why you're struggling a bit. Sadly. The Here and Now perk is a trap. those types of bonuses often are in RPGs. And the low agility not only affects your AP but also your base AC (though 21 AC w/ armor is respectable) Tbh, the build looks like a bit of a jack of all trades, which is doable, but for a first time through is rough (as you, of course, have experienced first hand) and luck I took a look again at the perks list, and your stats caused you to not have access to some of the best in the game. I'm could run a test build with FALCHE.exe and use your stats to see if I can try figure something out for you if you'd like If you're desperate you can always download Falche.exe, which is a save file editor that allows you to change all of the details about your character (or just make a godlike character lol if you just want to experince the story) Just don't add a bunch of AC as it will cause your end of turn processes to take FOREVER for some reason.

Anyway, thank you so much for all the tips and help. I try my best to finish the game with what I've built, it's the best way to learn. I just wish the game explained better at the beginning some of the stuff but I assume since it is an older game, all that stuff was included with some physical manual attached to the box.

Great video, I love the way u articulated your views and mostly agree with u. I read some of the responses as well just to read the room- your fanbase seems pretty cool too. I see your issues with this and fallout 4 as one word - Bethesda. 76 is just fallout 4, rushed/better dialog tree/predatory in nature/mixed up non broken perk system - update for no reason. They were trying to create their own GTA5 online and it actually morphed into it's own thing. It's a pretty cool community if u hangout for a few. However, getting back to Bethesda, they are, what they are. I didn't really like Fallout 4 as a Fallout game, but i loved the way it tried. I too loved the legendary Fallout 1 and 2. The grind and hold it had, which translated to 3 and New Vegas, differently and diverse. When 4 came, it was difficult for me to accept it for what it was. When I did, i loved it. We actually are kindred spirit, for i too shook my fist to the clouds; but it rained on me 😮. If u are willing to die on that hill, i will respect your choice good sir, but i say that our expectations are our premeditated disappointments. 9:46 yea most things are locked by default in the start of the game, most of it you have to unlock by finding schematics and or completing a quest, and Vats needs a perk card to target specific points on an enemy. I personally like the leveling system in 76 because of how I can completely change my character build on a moments notice. but if it wasn't a online game I don't think I would like the level system. as far as 76 goes it only gets better with friends

5:18 the only reason I'm okay (not thrilled by but ok) with this feature 1) as a game mechanic it is here because 76 is trying to be a new type of group multiplayer game which I respect the need for having players have the right stuff 2) from a lore stand point the largest amounts of pre-war ammo would be in more abundance only 25 years after the war verses 200 years after the war so tripping over the needed ammo is less offensive to me in 76 specifically but it has some major draw backs. Just stumbled across this video, and while i agree with some of the things youve said, 'mainly the positives' i disagree with others, the fast travel costing caps is to give players that 'i dont wanna spend caps to travel, gives players a choice to do so, if the fast travel was just free then people would just fast travel anywhere and ecerywhere and there would be no sense of exploration, which is the best part of Fallout imo. Theres needs to be some kind of detremantal negative to fast travelling and the charge is fine. Also, the base building is great! One of the best im my opinion. Playing the game for the first time and almost instantly expecting all of the building plans available is just silly. Almost every open world mmo/rpg with base building doesnt give you that, especially not entirely open world ones. This game has come a looong way since launch, and i agree, the lack of npcs and dialogue made the game feel empty, but from what they did, in the time they did, fair play Bethesda. Also, the in game 'Atom' purchases, arnt mandatory, if you want to buy it, buy it, if you dont, then dont, no one is forcing you to, Again, every game has microtransactions, lets not make out this is a new thing. To finish, and i hope you take what i said lightly and that i dont mean any hate towards you and your opinion, as i come from the point of view that, any critisism, is good critisism. Give it a good chance, this game is incredibley fun, and if you enter the world of 76 with an open mind, i believe thats what youll have. Sorry for the long reply, just a few things i wanted to point out and say my piece. Peace.✌️

@M1cromanag3r Месяц назад
I'd like to say I appreciate your candor and the fact that you understand that opinions are just that. I will never state my opinion and an objective truth. (or I try damn hard not to imply as such) but I do know my own taste and even after just under 5 hours of play time I could tell this was generally more of the same from Bethesda. I played juat enough to see key features and how they are implemented. As far as the fast travel, I can definitely see where youre coming from, but I guess at the same I have had experince playing open world games and online games (albeit most often solo) and fast travel was always meant to backtrack faster to places previously discovered and save time. In multi-player games in the past, and to prevent abuse, it was usually attached to a timer/cooldown, but it wasn't always behind an in-game currency. And to say microtransactions are in every game is objectively incorrect. I could probably find 30 games from the last 2 years that don't, and t9 see fellow gamers just resigning to acceptance about a practice that was never needed in the industry for many years beforehand and is now IMO a symptom of a much bigger issue in the gaming industry. At the end of the day, though, I will always accept that people will continue to like things that I do not and vice versa, and while some people refuse to understand that when I'm just stating an opinion, I'm doing just that, nd not making an attack on them for the things they enjoy. I can tell that you are a rather understanding person in this regard and wish to thank you for not getting defensive or angry and instead choose to engage in a civil discussion. It's something that has become far too rare these days. And it definitely happens far too often whenever I state a dissenting opinion on bethesda games. Thanks for being decent.
@Texturising
@Texturising Месяц назад
@@M1cromanag3r ofcourse, its easy to hide behind a keyboard and talk trash to people, although i have a different opinion, i value yours. But, again with the microtransactions, to me unless its a pay to win item, then yes, i agree the in game purchases are predatory and dont belong in any video game period. But, things like building plans and skins where they add no benefit other than to look cool, i see no problem with, and again at the end of the day, they are optional, you can earn loads if atoms in the challenges tab which you xsn spend wherever and on whatever you like, and there are 1000's to earn. The fast travelling stuff is subjective. Iv explored the whole map more times than i can remember and sometimes whizzing around from place to place is easier and you guessed it 'faster'. Time on this earth is precious and limited for some. So if fast travelling isnt your style, then best reunforce those shoes i guess lol. On a whole, i appreciate your approach to my response to the video, it could have been way easier to deny/ignore what i said, but you didnt. The leveling is the way it is to give an extra reason to grind, which is stupid. The funniest part of that whole thing is the people that SAW it was an isometric, turn based RPG, still purchased it, then complained about these exact aspects and refused to just accept the game wasn't for them, and instead called it trash lol I guess to some it may seem similar to what I've done here, but I feel there's a difference as I played this game kind of knowing what I was getting into but giving it a try to have a more informed opinion, as opposed to buying into hype and going to the extreme of pushing my subjective opinion as objective truth.

But then again when Tactics came out I was'nt nearly as dissapointed with the lack of roleplaying and story as I was while playing Fallout 4. So you are bang on

I have played 76 since day one. I'm one of those people that preferred the game before the NPCs I played the game with a friend and that's the way the game was supposed to be played. The game isn't for everyone and there are Fallout lovers like yourself that will never like it. And that's okay.

Im sure its improved but from talking to the amazing community thats been there for tears its pretty clear that the core of what it is has ALWAYS been there. This is exactly why I played the game and made the video. I've never listened to the, as you put them, "negative algorithm monkeys", but instead based my initial assumptions on live game play. I watched CohhCarnage live day 1 for a few hours to see what the game was all about, and from what I saw, I didn't really dig. But I gave it a chance to form a more informed opinion. This is Something I feel everyone should do with any media. Theere are numerous times I didn't watch a show because I was TOLD it was bad only to watch it later in life and enjoy it. That being said, keep enjoying what you enjoy!

Since I like Bethesda-Games (and love Fallout 1,2 and even Tactics to some extend) I do not share your overall opinion (no, I am not defending avoidable bugs/issues, they are a real issue). But what I really like about your video and opinion, you actually did take the time to play it. Thankfully without having to pay money for it thanks to Gamepass. People really should try it for themselves and see if the first ... let's say 8-12 hours have fun. It is a big game and world so the first few hours might be needed to learn a bit more about the game. Unless you played Fallout 4, then it should be evident within the first 3 hours or less since the games are so similar in how things work.
@M1cromanag3r
@M1cromanag3r Месяц назад
Yeah, i played a ton of 4. Once I started to feel the similarities, I didn't feel I needed another 5 hours to realize it wasn't for me. It honestly took me years of playing around with Skyrim and Fallout 4 both to slowly realize that it wasn't the same for me as previous titles. They aren't objectively bad. The devs just have taken the games in a different direction and, as such, moved away from things a lot of older fans enjoyed. But thank you for being respectful and seeing what I was doing here. It was less "I'm gonna make a video and crap on 76" and more of a "I'm gonna try to challenge myself to try things and form my own opinion" We can agree to disagree and still be civil, and your comment proves that. Thanks for giving my video/channel a shot, and thanks for being a decent human being 👍

@@M1cromanag3r the title of your video and thumbnail did help a lot as well. I am making a big circle around things like "... is bad/a failure" or such. I think, the world would be less fun if everyone had the same tastes. It would be a boring place. And failure is part of a process in learning and developing. Even Bethesda acknowledged, "voiced protagonist" and "always exactly 4 dialog-options" were no good ideas. I am leaving the low number of people who loved voiced protagonists out of that picture... the unlikely will do those again. On a totally other note, since this was the first video from your channel (we'll see what YT will show me in the future): nice hair color ;)

You have to watch tutorial videos. This is not Fallout 4, you will not figure everything out by yourself.
@M1cromanag3r
@M1cromanag3r Месяц назад
Then that's bad game design, in my opinion. If a player can't figure it out by playing or reading a game manual, then there is a serious issue. Unless a game's main appeal is that lack of knowledge given to the player and thus part of the fun is in the discovery) Enshrouded has a deep building mechanic. The game helps explain its building mechanics, AND it's one of those games that is about experimenting and learning things on your own. Bethesda just didn't hit the mark IMO

@@M1cromanag3r with what you're saying videos are out new game guides sadly and if you can run threw a game and find every thing on your self i find that to be lazy game design
@M1cromanag3r
@M1cromanag3r Месяц назад
@thedarklordsknigh there are some things that must be left as mystery for sure. Hidden treasures, optional bosses to find, content tucked away to reward curiosity and fuel the urge to explore and discover. But needing a game guide to cover the basic features of a game implies bad game design. A developer should want their game to be intuitive on the basic level. Whether through a straight-up tutorial, tool tip pop ups, or a guided beginner area to establish mechanics disguised as part of the game. One of my all-time favorite games (Graveyardkeeper) does a pass poor job of explaining how and where to gain the blue experience points. I love the game but will still criticize this flaw. Just because you enjoy a game doesn't make it immune to even your own criticisms. If we just sat back and willingly ate up everything devs through at us without contention, we'd end up with pure slop because they know we'll buy it regardless.

I personally don't have any issue with the building and I think it's one of the best building systems that any game has. No it isn't perfect, nor is it for everyone but I personally enjoy it. The leveling system IS weird at first, I do agree. Although, I did come around to it once I figured it out. I like it because it allows for a lot of diversity.

If you enjoy building things, I gotta recommend Enshrouded. The building in it is fantastic. Though I'd say give it some time to cook and let the devs work out some of the other aspects. But it has an enjoyable building mechanics, and I feel it is implemented far better than 76. And I could definitely see the potential for more diverse builds with the way the leveling works. Definitely something Bethesda has been sorely missing as of late.

I have so many friends that LOVE ark. I couldn't get into it. I tried. I can see what they were going for, but it definitely fell short in terms of playability for me. The building "snap to" needed mods (build plus?) in order to function better, and the hit boxes were horrendous. That being said I'm honestly jealous of those that still enjoy bethesda games. I miss that feeling of wonder previous titles had. It's definitely just a sign that their games are no longer for me, and I'm no longer the target audience. Just sucks when a company used to get you and your taste, and they pivot. Keep adventuring and keep having fun doing it!

Honestly I don’t really have issues with the micro transaction in this game, since you can actually earn atoms by doing challenges or get them form the season pass that’s free for all players and you’ll occasionally get free utility items when you log back into the game but I do have mix opinions on the resource object for the camp they have in the store. All around I wouldn’t say it’s the worst live service I’ve seen but that’s just my opinion.🤔🐱

I think where my biggest issue lies is twofold. (Minus my long-standing issues with Bethesda as a developer) 1. I very rarely play Multi-player games. 2. I really dislike microtransactions in general and feel they are a big part of the failings of AAA studios. I can definitely see why folks are accustomed to these practices when they have spent more time with modern multi-player games. It's just very jarring from my standpoint as an older solo gamer, where everything in the game has always been accessible through in-game means and not a weird secondary currency. But if you're having fun. Then have fun, and don't let my or any other opinion make you think you're wrong for how you spend your leisure time.

But I honestly do see why some people would like it. There's are good things going for it. And I definitely wanted to actually play the game to either confirm or disprove my initial bias. I'm a very firm believer that one needs to make up their own mind. (I've enjoyed so many games/movies/shows that are commonly low rated by critics) Which is what I feel I've done. While some have been very rude with their responses, at the end of the day, there are people like yourself who see the intention, and at the end of the day I feel better knowing I just gave an honest opinion based of my own experience instead of parroting internet rhetoric.
