Every time I look back on these few pictures I took, I wish I had taken many more. Like I mentioned in other comments, I was looking at the color for a friend who built a radio control Airwolf model.
In 1986 my Late Dad and I were working in Long Beach, CA. They filmed an episode of Air Wolf next door to where we where working. I got to see the Santini Air and The Lady both fly in. Sadly The Lady did not scream when she came in like she did on the show but in my head that's the sound that I heard. And it was not the episode they filmed at the Queen Mary. The address for where it was is 1925 Pier D street. But when we worked there the address was 1925 Water street they changed the name of the street sometime in the 90's.
Must have been incredible to see The Lady herself in person! Very cool that you got pictures as well. It's so sad that The Lady is gone now.... I wish they would have preserved her for all us fans to enjoy. Well.. The Lady will always remain in our hearts and memories for as long as we all live, that's for sure! Airwolf will always be remembered.
It was exciting to find it and get to walk around it. One of the reasons I took pictures was to show a friend the color scheme for his radio control model Airwolf. I thought it was black and white. Some thought it was a dark Army green and white. I was surprised to see that it was metallic dark gray and light gray. In some of my photos, it looks black and white depending on the lighting angle. Now, I wish I had taken many more photos showing more details and the interior.
Sikorsky S76 looked ok nothing special as well in fact I'm not into helicopters none of them look that special , never seen another beautiful helicopter but Airwolf dam her beauty goes on without doubt she's the most beautiful helicopter of all time!!!
The Sikorsky S-76 at @1:11 was the personal ship of Pete Mckearn Sr and also used as HX1 in season 2’s HX1, and the BX gunship in season 3’s And a Child Shall Lead not to mention it also has a minor cameo in Season 3’s Crossover.
This incredibly AWESOME mecha went way BEFORE her time;it it a tremendously bad LOSS to all even those that do not like her but she is ONE and only the absolute ONE of a kind:bringing the Lady back is probably one of the most intelligent things that can be DONE
Great photos. You can see a lot of detail in the cabin of Airwolf, you wouldn't normally see. I may be wrong but I'm sure you can see the rear windows.
I went to Monroe high school in the '80's. I remember many afternoons being out on the football field & seeing the lady & Santini air flying by. They followed the 405 up to Valencia (I believe) for filming. Thanks for posting: thanks for bringing back memories.
I drove a truck delivering pianos from North Carolina in the 80s. There was a California 6 motel not very far from the Van Nuys airport where I would occasionally stay. That was when I decided to see if I could spot Airwolf.
Motel 6 Sepulveda now. Just looked at it on google maps street view. Same motel building I stayed at. I thought it was California 6 though but maybe always Motel 6. You can also look up Helinet, Waterman Drive, Van Nuys Airport and use street view to see the same hangar where Airwolf was kept.
Would have been very cool to see the LADY in person, it's sad that the helicopter wasn't kept in it's original form for fans to enjoy. Also, the sad ending to the airframe when she crashed.
This just made me wonder if they removed the modifications before selling it. I would think so. And if they did, does someone still have them, or were they discarded.
@@carlcdp The modifications were removed after filming and the helicopter was sold to an overseas company for use as an air ambulance. Unfortunately it crashed
