Having recently traveled back-to-back to both Shanghai and Tokyo for business, while both are great, Shanghai felt more modern, had newer infrastructure, was a lot greener, and had a better mix of ultra-modern and historical buildings. Overall, China wins.
depends , when I stayed in suzhou a neighbour's city at 30min in car, the price of a luxury hotel in front the Celine , bvlgari and LV (Louis Vuitton ) shops the cost is around 33euros the day. a little expensive being in China .
I actually like shanghai more as well than tokyo but overall like china more than japan. But i like japam as well my top 3 or 4 but china is just on a another level
yeah I should you visit Hangzhou and suzhou , there is a phrase, there is the heaven in the sky and there are Su & Hang ( suzhou and Hangzhou ) in the ground.

In China, people generally don't care much about what you do. Unlike Japan, there aren't many oppressive rules and regulations that make you feel constrained. It's also very safe. Even if you dress provocatively, people might just give you a few extra glances (which I personally think is probably because they find you attractive). You won't encounter the kind of harassment you might experience in Japan, like Chikan on trains. BTW, Welcome to Shanghai
