some very cool and very old footage! I work on the lake doing habitat restoration. I would not be surprised if the guide is still known on Bear Island.
It was about 3:15 or so. Yeah, the trooper was quite nice. Said we were welcome to stay and that he was just there to keep an eye on things. Had a good conversation about military takeoff technique, etc. Seemed like a pretty good guy.
I forget what they said the actual time was but it was between 3pm - 3:30pm It's nice to see that state cop let you do that, most of them wouldn't let that happen.
Bad, bad track maintenance. The same line that goes through Leslie has had to flag a crossing at least once due to poor track connectors ad just all around disrepair. Sadly, it hasn't improved since JAIL took it over, and I've seen a couple places at least where the ties have completely rotted away and there's nothing holding the rail to the trackbed.
well they are called the twins because they are both the same class of locomotive meaning they are both 2-8-4s and are very simular in looks!! Yes 2 different RRs and there are slight differences to them but the general public cant tell the difference!
Well, I usually have the kids with me when we go railfanning...and the little playground behind Spartan Village really works out great. Unfortunately, the view is a little obstructed...though, perhaps one day soon someone with some pruning shears will stop by and thin the brush out a bit. This side also has the advantage of southern exposure lightwise. Also...I understand the RR police come by the north side of the diamond pretty frequently.
Gotta be careful around CN trackage. They wrote me up a warning ticket for trespassing. I was 30ft from the tracks. I think I was on public property. Road Right of way. But I didn't argue with them cause SP4449 was coming through.
