It's Oct 7, 2024, I'm not sure if you're still responding to this video. I'm looking at a 2007 Avalanche LTZ with 59k miles. It's in decent shape for its age. What is too much for it??
I'm trying to do the same on my channel. It really would be awesome to make that dream come true lol. Great review of the Avalanche. I really want to get one if I sell my Grand Cherokee. My father has a 2004 Silverado 2500HD and I enjoy driving that. I miss having use of a truck bed, but also have two children. So this truck would be just what I need.
I know im late to the party, but i Iicked up my 04 a couple months ago. Am the second owner and i got it at 280k miles. Runs great and havent had too many issues. Am actually surprised that even with the small back window and the bed pillars i have a great view when reversing. The amount of times ive dropped the midgate to help family move, i always get a chuckle when i can carry more than my brothers F150 or dads frontier. I do have one problem that if anyone can help with that would be great. All my interior light buttons turn on the bed light.
Great vid..couple things to add! The driversside strut tower loves to start to rust where the cap meets the welds. Also, the floor board stabalizer braces. They arent available to purchase so you need to find donors if you plan on replacing floor pans since the bottoms eat away on these cars. If youre really looking for a mint car, look in the trunk under the passanger side carpet for a cut in the top of thee wheel welll. Fuel pumps are replaced there often. Replacing the fuel pump takes dropping the exhaust, suspension..ect..then the tank. Often..people will cut a trap door in the trunk to access the pump. These cars are super fun because of the torque..altho not fast. But they are awesome cars...just rust buckets. 91 gta 5.0 tpi
You can replace the heater cores in about an hour without taking a single bolt out of the dash if you just drill a small access hole behind the map compartment glove box thing. I did it on my 92 firebird. Unless you're really anal about keeping it all original I think it's totally worth it, you'd never even know there was a hole there with the map compartment in place.
Got my 2012 in 2019(?) or 18. Pull a 25' trailer with it. No problems until a thief drilled a hole in my gas tank at 3 a.m. Ever since check engine lights all over the place. New tank won't allow you to pump gas without the pump constantly clicking off. Otherwise love it.
Bought one from my mechanic buddy in 2020 and love it. Every time I bring it to him for work he keeps telling me how much he misses it hah. Had a bit of a leak in the bed but some silicone grease on the rubber tonneau cover seals made it all water tight. All of the truck bed water gutters were missing on mine so I replaced them all. Plan to camp it in this weekend with the mid gate down and a foam mattress laid out. Hoping it will be easier than using a tent.
I had the 4 speed trans on a 2010 1500, I rarely used the tow function after 280 000 km the trans was the only good left ! I hate the tow feature on GMC/Chev trucks, I just used the manual gears. Hill decent feature works good though. If your doing any serious towing just learn to use manual, the tow feature is crap.
K im gonna throw this out there cuz im loving the comments on vids of the Avalanches ...just got a 2005 with miles on her. .So many im embarrassed to say, its way beyond 200,000. So WHY isnt it a gas guzzler which I completely was prepared for...great surprise.
You are making perfect sense. I had a 2008 GMC Envoy Denali that I absolutely loved. I bought it 5 years old and used as a trade in at 110K for a new 2018 Jeep Cherokee. I am looking at this video because the Avalanche always intrigued me but I didn't know much about it. The Tahoe and Suburban were on my radar. I'm definitely going to look for an Avalanche if I can find the 2500.
I could be mistaken, but another easy way to find out any codes your computer could be flashing is by putting key into ignition, turning it to accessory, back to off, back to accessory, then back to off, then back to accessory and leave it there. It will then do flashes to tell you the codes it has for check engine. This is the case for most GM cars of that generation.
Personal note. As an old coot, it does my heart good to see a young fella on the right path. Getting out of debt, jumping into a side hustle and delaying personal gratification for a better financial future. VERY WELL DONE SIR! Ty Bill.
Good video, informative with no bs. Just bought a 2011 LT black on black with blacked out tint and 24" rims. NO OWNER MANUAL. 506 pages on line. F that. I went from a 97 Sierra 2dr long box . Pwr steering and brakes, but nothing else. No ac and radio delete. To this. This is heaven on wheels. Climate control, stereo, power everything and a backup camera. Previous owner installed touch screen infotainment system, dashcam and a cb sw scanner. Now I gotta get me a cell phone so I can pair it up and do hands free. I know it's just more thi gs to break.but for now it's pretty sweet. TY Bill
Once you get the nice stuff there’s no going back haha. From 16 years old till 24 I drove a 95 C2500 with 0 features. Now you’ll never get me back out of a Lexus haha.
I have an 84 transamp original owner.42803 miles 305 I output 6 speed at 5 speed this week.Yeah, I just got needs a little too healthy and I got a 97 formula. That's the monster car
I had an ‘89 Iroc brand new. Another thing to check are cracked A pillars. I tweaked both of mine from drag racing it and basically just driving it hard.
Nice Avalanche. I always love the GMT800 platform. Im a Suburban Z71 owner and adore it. Highly underrated IMO. Debating on new 5.3 or 6.0 when its time. Current 5.3L has 350k+ I plan on doing some long haul towing with it unless i get a cateye (will convert to round eye) duramax first. Really would love a 2500 Suburban for a duramax swap.
So i bought my 1986 v6 firebird off my neighbor, and the heater core was leaking onto the carpet. Very first issue I addressed. It took a lot of cursing, praying, and gymnastics, but I did manage to replace it by myself and it's holding up 2 years later without a problem. The biggest pain was connecting the coolant lines through the firewall, but every job has its quirks.
It’s crazy how fast they actually are. I had this bird and an 06 mustang GT that was cammed and had some other cool mods and the bird always felt faster.
@@garfunkelsgarage2509 yeah birds are my favorite. I had alot of 77-81 birds but 3rd gens i had 2 irocs and 4 or 5 birds and a 91 z28 convertible and a 91 rs convertible same color at the same time.
