Hi Guys, Welcome to my RU-vid Channel. This channel is all about one of the oldest and most traditional crafts there is....the craft of shoeing Horses. The materials and products may have changed, but the skills of the craft remain and I aim to showcase them in some great, entertaining videos on this channel. I will also produce educational videos to help farriers and blacksmiths across the world understand what it is we do, why we do it and how we do it.
I hope you enjoy my videos and please help support my channel by liking, sharing and subscribing where you can.
Splendid work ! I would emphasise the temperature parameter for the cast and glue to be manageable : seconds are of the essence depending on the outside temperature
I need top ask you a question and I pray you will answer it. I have a mare who HATES having her feet touched but we still do daily. However, we had a very muddy winter here in Idaho USA. Needless to say, I have been battling thrush in her front right hoof since spring. We are to the point that the frog is looking much better; however, I am concerned about the sole of the hoof. The powder-like layer of un-exfoliated sole smells like stinky human feet. 1: can thrush absorb into the sole and keep the hoof soft inside and 2: other than keep it dry, should I wrap her hoof in an epsom poltice for a while to draw it out of the sole? Forgive my silly question but I am very concerned here and need some help. I am cleaning the hoof after picking with chlorhgexadine wash and treating with thrush buster but IF IT IS POSSIBLE for thrush to harbor itself in the sole of the hoof, how can I treat this??????
May I ask how to treat with an Epson police gel? I don't have the sheet police as you do. Should I pack the hoof with the gel or place something in-between the hoof surface and the gel???
Also very educational! <3 I wish i could find the video of someone using preserved hooves like these and they showed how the hoof flexes with and without irons when pressure is put on the hoof. I have no idea what that video was called, but this detailed explaination with a dissection really reminded me of it.
I had similar videos in my favourites years ago. Even one that showed the movements and return to the natural shape and stepping in slow motion. :'D This is really helpful in many ways! Especially since I started getting interested in scultping. Tho this should be helpful for other types of art as well I imagine. It shows the difference/change very nicely. Thanks for uploading this!
I wonder about the expansion of the hoof as it grows, theres no flexabilty with resin , i could understand for rehabilitation but other than that id be sceptical
It's good, since it returns to it's natural shape and functions (which shoes hinder greatly). Shoes are not able to flex, which a hoof needs to do, it alters the angle as you can see and they are slick metal on an otherwise rather rough hoof, so traction is also better for many surfaces 8if not all).
I'm a farrier, get abit demoralized working on my own, great to have other farriers share their work and experience. It's very motivating. I appreciate it.
The point of heel is back at the widest part of the frog and the wall and frog on the same plane. This horse will be plated to run and is in full gallop training and has trained in the UK during the 2023 season. The heels are not long, they have simply migrated forward. In time and whilst barefoot they will gradually come back with management.
Thank you so much Alex for sharing your course with us. It's very helpful and well organized, every thing was clear.❤ A big thank to Mr. Paul Conroy, I like your method Sir :) BTW: he was talking about some points you did in other courses, are they availible Alex, if so could you please share them. I am in urgent need of short and well explained videos :)
