In 74 Volvo put in the larger Box Main frame in the uni-body 140 that breathed better and a less tendency to rust out but basically from 68 to 86 all doors and glass fit. Just loved that Mechanical Fuel Injected 74 B2000 Engine with the manual 4 Spd Salisbury Tranny and Hone OD and Posi 3:90 rear end - Easy Rev 6800+rpm with a lot of torque. If you have 68 B2000 with Twin SU's I highly recommend you put in the Marine cam ;o) In 75 Volvo went with McPherson Strut and the Slant SOHC 4 which lasted to to end of of 240 series.
Northern Ontario Canadian here: The 74 Volvo 142GL with Mechanical Fuel Injection on that B2000 Red Brick engine was the best Volvo of all time. Drove many Volvo's; 68 142S, 74 142GL, 76 244DL and my last Volvo an 84 244GL built in New Brunswick Canada which I retired in 2020. Short term driving a 67 123GT and a 72 P1800E Coupe. Fantastic Cars - Wish Volvo made them like they use to.
it is the car that made that I went to Volvo, since I owned 1-164, 2-240 and now a S70, I must admit that the s70 is very deceptive in regard to earlier models.
The car looks great. I had a 69 in gold with a black vinyl roof I bought in 1972. I was 17 and I think I paid around $695.00 from a used car lot. I learned how to drive stick on the way home.
My Father's '70 1.1-liter 2-door sedan was a sort of mint green, took a hard hit to the left-rear quarter panel and when the Buick body shop returned it the trunk lid, left-rear fender and rear panel under the trunk were painted a hideous mis-matched overcooked broccoli green. it stayed that way for another ten year until he traded it for a 1985 Dodge Omni. The taillights on Pop's and most '70 kadetts I saw in the period were all red, with no dividing trim except between the red taillights and the back-ups. I don't remember the three-color lights but I do remember horizontal dividers in the '68-'69 models.
Beautiful Kadett, l had on when l was about 17, 40+ yrs ago, twin carbs, painted it red & boy that car was fun to drive. Had two driving lights on the grill.

Was für ein toller Opel Kadett. Ich habe nur gute Erinnerung an das Fahrzeug. Mein Vater hatte diesen als Kiemencoupe in den 60er Jahren. Familientauglich, sparsam im Verbrauch und flott unterwegs. Aber ihr 1900er muss richtig schnell sein.
The lastb of the wonderful " boxy but good" Volvos. The B20 engines were bullet proof and visibility was great. It was all downhill with the 200 series with the appalling cow catcher front end and the hideous ladder headrests. Then came front wheel drive and it was.all over.
... Right now, I have the opportunity for either a '63 544 or a '66 amazon ... I'm torn between the two ... Any feedback? ... They are both priced about the same ... And both running, driving, and stopping, etc ... Regards

About 98% of the 5200 Mk.6's were standard steel so this car is rare. Out of the price range of most of us but a decent SS can be had for under £ 20,000 today. Sure beats a new Ford Fiesta.
Custom coachwork was relatively popular on the MK6, representing close to 20% of production. Only in the S-series cars did special coachwork demand drop off to low single digits, demand for special coachwork being concentrated on the Continental chassis.
