I also have a J121 connector problem on a Bali machine from 1991. The connector has a couple bad punch down end of the pins. Do I try get pins to replace or buy the IDC connectors? Not sure if I could get the pins out with the expanded punch down ends bent out to the edge. I would purchase the connector itself if I could get one. Good video.
Bought that mod from Mezel Mods. Here is the blog post link showing off the mod with pics, description and link of where to buy. Also a video is linked to the blog post as well. Thanks for watching the video. pinballsupernova.wordpress.com/2019/07/11/mods-install-and-overview-of-mezel-mods-mods-afm-tz-and-iron-maiden-spotlight-mod-tz-lighted-courthouse-video-install/
@@pinballsupernova that makes two of us. If you’re going to steal something using Linux make sure to clear your bash history before you release the distro =)
I believe the propellers work with the optos that are on the mod. I havent looked at this mod since I installed it 4 years ago but I believe the optos on the helicopter connect to the box on the mod which gives it power and when the inserts flash or come on, the propellers work. Trace your power lines to make sure everything is connected properly. I just quickly rewatced the video and there isnt much more I can really tell you then what I show in the video. The video is pretty self explanatory on how to install and the mod works. Reach out to the creator of the mod through Pinside and see if there is anything he can share about troubleshooting. The user who created the mod is Big Law
thanks for the positive comments. Thanks also for watching the vid. I believe i got those a long time ago, from the person who creates the code for Revenge From Mars now. Apple Juice or something he goes under?
Purchased some blade art and the link on PinGraphix site that was supposed to link to the installation video linked to a Topper video. Your Vid popped up after a quick search and was very useful. I figured it would be like installing window tinting. Thank You.
Unfortunately this mod hasn't been available for years. Mike D has gotten out of mod making for quite a while. That's why if its a mod that someone wants or needs, you need to buy it when its available because in the pinball hobby most of the time mods are no longer available such as this mod.
I gotta buy this when another production run of the remakes come out. There is only one medieval madness remake near me, and the right troll is kinda broken, it doesn't register hits, and there is an odd lag when you press the ball launch button, but its otherwise in good shape
great game, yes the troll issue is probably the switch that makes contact with the troll for hits is malfunctioning or needs adjusting, not very hard to fix and the ball launch button? That's a bit strange with the lag? Could be a connector or something strange or another issue with the button not making contact properly that needs cleaning or adjusting.
Nice pickup, good luck with the game. That mod I believe came from Mezel Mods back in the day. That mod actually came with my game when I purchased it from a seller. I don't believe that mod is being made anymore. Someone overseas was making the mod and Mezel Mods sold them I believe? It's been so long I can't really remember unfortunately.
Danny, sorry you think the video doesn't fit the game. That is the video that the manufacturer of the mod had installed upon purchase almost 9 years ago when this mod was released. I believe it was a bit of a joke and that is why it was put in during the fighting scene of the peeping Tom mode in the game. Those videos are editable and can be changed to whatever the owner would like. I was lazy and never changed it, also it doesn't bother me so that is why I left it.
@@pinballsupernova ah cool, good to know it’s editable. I heard this was a $1000 mod and for that price I’d want everything to be exactly right (or to my tastes, at least)
Most def, I think the mod was around $500 bucks? That was without the tv that you need to buy seperately from one I remember? Been so long, Yeah it was a pretty pricy mod.
This is the LCD version of Color DMD I believe.. I did this video 6 years ago and this was a friend's Gun's N Roses so I dont fully remember. But looking at the video it looks like the LCD version. Not the LED version.
Don't really know the answer on that. JJP probably sent this pinball machine overseas so I think in Europe the power is 220V? You would need to reach out to Jersey Jack Pinball and ask that question. I am sure they would be able to give you an answer on that. Thanks for watching the video.
Just imagine that you have multi ball playing in the background, and all the sudden the LCD plays the original creature from the Black Lagoon film as multi ball is activated
I really like the LCD screen mod for your creature from the Black Lagoon playfield. It’s really cool animations some that are not based on the pinball machine some animations that are not based off of it, and maybe certain animations they’re actually from the original film, and sometimes some animations that are based off of that film can be blending in with the playfield
Joe, don't know if the company is around anymore? You can actually buy these I believe on Amazon and make a mount for a pinball machine, The hardware is available , the company made the mount for the pinball machine I believe and sold the unit together. If you watch the video and click the more link in the info area , I have a URL link to my blog website that has the company name and some other info. Thanks for watching the vid. pinballsupernova.wordpress.com/2019/08/30/mods-lighted-pinball-mods-3d-hologram-topper-overview-and-install-video/
Here is a link to the topper, I would reach out to the company first to see if this is still available. lightedpinballmods.com/product-category/ultimate-hologram-pinball-topper/
This video aged well since in Nov 2022 toppers are $2000. Your topper beats most of the ones I've seen that are over $1000. Great job. If I had a Batman I'd be making one like yours.
Can you take an existing part and recreate it. I am hunting for someone to reproduce a Laser War Pinball machine ramp. They were super brittle and not very strong when originally released and so many of them failed. Then they released a replacement which was pretty cheap as well so they are notoriously bad for breaking. Is that something you would be interested in trying for a video?
Thanks very much for your informative demonstration of Cliffy’s protectors! I just received his entire kit for LOTR, & you video certainly helped me understand the basics of installation!
Well, I created this video like 5 years ago. I just watched the video and I pretty much followed the video even though I created it 5 years ago. The one cable of the shaker motor goes to the board in the front of the cabinet, the second cable which goes into the back of the cabinet goes to the other side of the board in the front of the cabinet. Once the cable is in the back of the cabinet, there should be an empty cable already in the back of the cabinet that plugs into the cable that is coming from the board in the front. I don't know if the Cointaker shaker is different than the shaker I installed? My shaker came directly from Stern. If my video isn't helping you should look for another video on this installation and see if that helps. Thanks for watching.
@@pinballsupernova I’m pretty sure my Spiderman is different than the way your Metallica is wired, even though it’s a sam system. So that’s where the confusion lies.
this is from one of the replies below from a viewer who reached out to Cliff - The maker of the protectors Cliff just got back to me. So he says the drop target protector is actually a universal piece and can be installed the way you did it initially and many do. That said it seems the primary location is where we both have it now. Additionally you could buy 2 of them and stick em on both sides.
Hello Cliff, Unfortunately not. I believe this mod was only made in a limited quantity because of the display monitor having issues. I was lucky to get one when the mod was available.
Great video thanks man. With the soap method… Can I do this same method for Jersey Jack pins? Not sure I will have the clearance to drop in like you did? Already destroyed my GnR art blade 1st attempt lol…got a new set Thanks …
Thanks Anthony. Much appreciated. Sure the soap method should work on any decal in any game. I use that method not only in pinball but other things that I apply decals to. Soap the decals really good, let the excess water spill off, then go into the game and move the side blades around for positioning. You get a lot of forgiveness with the decals before they actually stick and dry. Good luck on the install.
I’m looking to make a similar mod for a different pin. Only if I understood how to power up a miniature motor. It is a motor inside the helicopter right? This is cool!
Mike , yes there is a motor inside the helicopter and optos to activate the motor from the insert lighting underneath. You should reachout to Big Law on Pinside and see if he can direct you with how to create the mod. Big Law has created some great pinball mods in the past. Thanks for reaching out.
Looks like you're a fan of Lawlor games. Very impressive collection! Why is the display on the Nascar solid blue instead of using all the colors? Did you not use the thumb drive to install the update?
Jesse, Thanks so much for the positive comments. The video was created before the rom was available for Nascar. I had a ColorDMD installed set to blue. Thanks for watching the vid.
it looks like the Stern/Sega whitestar have that extra board to the left that apparently most other machines don't even have? Is that correct? Because most other vids for stern color dmd's say that you don't re-use the old power cord at all. They either remove them or just leave them hang unused. But they don't seem to have that 2nd board on the left either.
jesse, i installed this so long ago I forgot actually everything about the install. But from what i remember, Whitestar games have an extra board comapred to the Sam games that are newer. I believe the board change took place on World Poker Tour.
I own this sound & light ornament and love it! Wish either Hallmark or someone would sell similar, battery operated pinball ornaments that feature both light and sound...
Thanks for the post, well this topper was created 6 years ago. I would think Stern created the topper to match the Kiss backdrop during the live stage performances from the 70's. Six years ago, toppers really weren't being created by Stern like they are today. I like the topper honestly. I think it looks great while the game is being played and it lives up to the live performances of the backdrop that was being used by Kiss in the 70's. It doesn't really matter to me since I sold the game and the topper years ago. If people like it or not, the topper and the game goes for good money now. Especially the LE that I had.
@Pinball Supernova ENTER ==> A.2 FEATURE ADJ. ==> A.2 29 TOPPER ADJ. NEW EFFECTS ==> YES (NO= ORIGINAL FAC. SETTING) See? Give the option to the operator or player to choose was so easy. That was lazy from Stern. Anyway, I found that topper very very cool, love it. Just needs an "update". something like 2.0 or 3.0. I'm owner a 1979 Bally Kiss and definitely I'm going to make this topper for it.
@@retrogamescl Dont think you will see that option from Stern, the game is out of production and Stern has a huge backlog of games and hardware to create. When they can get 2000 for a new topper and 10,000 for a new game, i doubt you will seeing any revisit of updates to an old topper unfortunately. Just my opinion.
I have this mod gor my NASCAR and love it. Only thing with mine is, it is only activated when the top drop target is hit. When it is hit and down, the rpm stays pinned to the max. When the bank resets, that's when the rpm meter goes back down to zero. What did I do wrong with my installation?
Found your install vid. What I did was attach mine up front. That makes it so the wire isn't long enough to reach all the way back to the spinner splitter. I'm going to cut your green wire and extend it, solder everything together and shrink tube it. Then it'll work as yours does with the spinner. Thanks for uploading the great install video. 😊👍
@@getreal3336 Thanks for the positive comments. Much appreciated. I did not create the mod, i just show how to install it. I believe the mod was created by www.hookedonpinball.com. Thanks again for the comments
It works far better for me connected the way you did yours to the back spinner. As you're facing and playing the machine, mine is installed on the left front on the blue plastic in front of the scanner hole. It looks perfect there. It's unobtrusive, when you look at it while playing, it's where it would be on your dashboard. Makes you feel kinda like you're driving. I love it. Edited - I meant to say that I love the checkered flag NASCAR sticker you have on yours. Way cool! Mine's plain black.
