It is great that things are happening in the US. As an urban planner from Europe, however, it kind of feels sad to see how much effort it seemingly took to install something we would consider as standard, if not sub-standard (but that is another story that would require significant change in the mindset of how a city should function).
I feel for that. Thanks to the channel NotJustBikes as well, where he literally points all the problems about traffic in Canada (let alone the US). Very big, and even unsafe car culture around here. The only safety is either paid with money or blood, unfortunately. Also drivers are just getting sooooo so much worse over here. Help us, our euro friends, lol.
I feel recycling is very important for the environment, but in my city, they have added restrictions to what can be recycled to the point that recycling is more of a pain than it's worth. All recyclables must be clean, so cans, bottles, etc. have to be washed. Water is expensive. No building materials, fabrics like clothing or rugs, and bedding, no styrafoam. What are we homeowners going to with this stuff? Donations are out because some of the things are too far gone to be reused.
Some items can't be recycled, as you said, so they go to the landfill. In the case of those items, we can work to reduce or reuse those items as much as possible. Yes, water is expensive for an individual household, but so is landfill space for a community. Thank you for your thoughtful efforts to do what you can in your community.
Great video! I can appreciate seeing this and reassured me that recycling pays off. So proud of this great city of Knoxville! Thank you all for your hard work. God bless

Randy Boyd at the Stadium Groundbreaking this morning (paraphrased): When I bought 14 acres down here, reporters asked if I was planning a baseball stadium, and I had to "pretend" that we were planning something else. That's called a lie, Randy. Randy Boyd admitted to lying to cover up his plans and increase his benefits. Is he sincere about the community benefits of the stadium? Or is he "pretending"?
