RACISM IN SMITHSONIAN? Theresa Machemer wrote a pseudoscientific article for the Smithsonian. It seems the scientific method is out the window and replaced by speculation instead. Her article entitled: New Research Reveals Surprising Origins of Egypt’s Hyksos Dynasty, is speculation. The article only has possible accuracy in detailing that some evidence gleaned from the teeth of a few so-called Hyksos proves the individuals were not from Egypt. But contrary to the title of the article, the article provides no scientific evidence that the Hyksos were definitely related to the teeth analyzed, nor does the article give scientific evidence that the probable invasion of Egypt did not occur from outside (as opposed to an internally created conflict caused by foreigners who lived in Egypt. It seems that the Smithsonian is becoming a place of speculation and propaganda as opposed to scientific thinking, scientific research, and quality analysis. I agree. I can boil in my wok, stir fry, and deep fry. I’d never go down to just one pot or pan, but if I had to, this is my most versatile. Even though it’s large, it stays on my stove 24/7 (with the lid on) and can be used even for small things like frying a single egg. So long as the wok is seasoned and you use a bit of oil, it slides as easily as on a nonstick surface.
