How is wading on the Susquehanna? I have to admit that it seems pretty intimidating to me. I focus on smaller rivers and streams for smallmouth in Maryland and southern PA. But I’d like to get more experience wading and fly fishing the Susky.
To be honest, I felt the same way you did when I first got started. It's actually not to bad as long as you have studded boots and sunglasses with polarized lenses. The more you're out there the less you even think about it.
Wow, what an awesome video as always. Very educational because I was not aware of the temperature change and how it affects fishing trout. Beautiful scenery. Excellent job. Little Nicki says hi and enjoyed it. 😊
Through out this video I could see you progressively getting better and better at Bass fishing. Through perseverance and knowledge from your buddies. Was that a Green Heron 3/4 the way through the video?
Thanks I definitely feel more confident now than I did at the beginning of that adventure. As for the bird I’m no bird expert but I do believe you are correct, Green Heron.
Nice chunk to end your video man! I fly fish a bit different with a torpedo float on a ultra-light rod, 4# test mono and size 10 or 8 Joes' flies and it is a blast. Keep chasing them smallies cause they are fun!
Thanks, I truly appreciate hearing that. It’s been a busy summer. I was actually in gods country chasing natives the past 4 days. There will be a new fishing story coming out next Thursday and more stories to follow soon after. Thanks for checking in and hope you enjoy the new stuff coming!
I really appreciate that. I feel I rushed this video a bit and am taking my time on editing the second part. Hopefully I will have it done in a week or two. As always thanks for tuning in Bud!
They actually came off because of a mistake I made, which I will explain in the next video. I actually would recommend these boots. Other than my mistake they have been working out great.
Lol, I believe I have an IG reel of you catching a wild one here. As for the korkers, I highly recommend them. They are comfortable, easy to put on / take off, and I feel like I can walk through almost anything with out having to think about it. They are on sale at precision for a few more days 20% off. If you decide to order a pair pleases consider using the link below. It will help me out with materials and gear to support the channel. Thanks for watching Bud! precisionflyandtackle.com/?ref=troutowl
Thank you. Also I always wet my hands. If you notice my hands are dripping wet and the release footage is set to slow motion so you the viewer can get a better view of them.
@@troutowl I fish for mostly Pa. Brook Trout and saw a study where the longer the fish is out of water the mortality rate climbs . Glad you know and thanks for the video
Nice video! I know this stream, it is a stream the local TU club has adopted and we do stream improvements on most every summer. Not sure if you remember me, but we met about a year ago at Caledonia State Park.
@@deansimpson3231 Thanks for watching. If you haven't watched my one year of fly fishing video yet, you should check it out. I use your streamer in it and I believe I mention you.
It was a beautiful day and the fishing was great as well. Caught my first tiger trout, not sure I'll ever be able to top him lol. Thanks for tuning in.
@@kragfearghal it was my first time seeing one as well. I don't know a lot about them but I believe they come from a male brook trout and female brown trout. I'm glad you are having some success on the water as well bud, tight lines!
Absolutely beautiful. we really liked watching this one, especially when you pointed out where the net was and the beautiful scenery with the purple flowers. Little Nick asked a question about why you cannot keep them. He wanted one of the fish caught today. 😂 I explain to him why, but I thought it would be cute for the explanation to come from you and I can read it to him. Awesome as always.
It's not that you shouldn't keep trout. Stocked trout are put in the stream just for that purpose, to take home and eat. As for native and wild trout you are also aloud to take them as long as they meet the states requirements. Though some people including myself would rather you not kill the native and wild ones. Here is my opinion on why I think you shouldn't. 1. They can help a streams ecosystem 2. They are also a good indication that a stream is healthy. If a stream can sustain native or wild fish it is most likely is a very clean stream 3. Native and wild fish are harder to catch which makes catching them special to me. 4. They are also more vibrant in color and with fully intact fins. Again this is just my opinion I do not want to tell anyone how to enjoy this sport. Thanks again for watching. (the trout in this video are wild brown trout)
Excellent video is always, I want to post some comments that my little great nephew wrote just to you about your videos that I show him. He says, and I quote Mr. Trout, I love to see you fish. I want to fish like you. Love, Nicki.
Thank you so much Nicki, you put a huge smile on my face! If you stick with it you will surpass me someday. I didn't get started until I was 40. The more time you spend on the water, the better you will get!
Thanks for the video I needed that. I live in central NH its March 31st rivers at bank full or higher, ponds still iced in, and rain/snow coming this week. Bin fly tying and getting gear ready but it doesn't seem that spring will ever come.
Glad I could help and that you enjoyed. The good thing I guess is when spring finally does reach you, you will have plenty of options to present the fish. Hope it warms up there soon bud.
