i never watched a Insect Glaive speedrun before, but damn, this is looks so much fun, after 900 hours i will definely try to learn this weapon for real
its unfortunate how much dmg it raises. i think its like extra 70dmg per ammo. its too powerful to ignore. if u r on pc, nexus mod has "remove special scope " and "special scope normal pov". those will put the special zoom back to normal zoom.

This run uses a moveset mod emulating valor LS which was originally from GU. The reflect hit is part of the spirit 1 attack. You can refer to 2:09, before landing spirit slash normally, there was a very short window of where the hunter hold the LS in a counter stance (like in the thumbnail), and if u time it correctly, it will perform the "reflect hit" as u've seen. The timing is quite strict though not as hard as iai slash, but prob easier than iai spirit slash (not sure).
seems like heroics doesn't even make that much of a difference. watching this contemplating getting back into and finishing iceborne. Stopped shortly after reaching the guiding lands and dropped hunting horn in iceborne because I disliked the new spinning attack.
It was probably my last opportunity to stream for long hours before getting perma busy in irl stuffs, so I felt the need to do something memorable (aka something dumb).
