I play 2 gedatsu.. gedatsu is early playing card in nature but gives you a good head start against the worst matchups: Lucci, Bonney, Zoro. Any decks that wants to play early 4 costs that sticks like Kuzan, Urouge, Chopper. You need to concider it
If you add raigo you can use the strategy that allows you to kill an opponent character and at the same time play kalgara at the cost of a life and then you take it back the next turn with noland
But then you have 2 lives left😅, maybe considering that in the third turn your opponent has put a strong character, you take him down at the cost of maybe 2/3 lives that if you play well you can keep and win
Like the list a lot, i was a similar list but just couldn’t find where to fit the frankys but i like the idea of just cutting the 1 cost searcher event as a whole. Would love to see you revisit this in OP09 to see how you fit in the brooks and robin events if you end up liking them
El Thor not needed tbh, and not as searchable as Earth Will Not Lose, and has no bonus search effect. Also in some matchups, like against Blue Doffy, you do need to go for board clear. If you're busy clearing board, you're not touching their life as much, so El Thor is not even live
@@WillofDDT I play both currently, as it is still searchable with Shura and having the possibility to defend yourself and your pieces more in the late game has been very helpful
2-3 copies of El thor + earth will not loose in my hand are my win condition in the end game when the opponent wants to go all in but cant. Edit: but I guess there are different ways to play kalgara. The version in the video with 4 additional 2ks is good for successfully defending your own board
I’ve been running garchu in my carrot build for higher end targets as with zou or milky on play I can rest any of my minks to rest their big body and then restand a don and drop my 10 drop doffy. Sweet list as always!
@@WillofDDT no problem! I definitely want to see about adding a hody or two after seeing your build! Mine currently is 2x OP01 Bepo 4x OP02 Carrot 3x OP02 Shishilian 4x OP04 Doflamingo 4x OP04 Rosinate 4x Op07 Bonney 4x Op08 Inuarashi 4x Op08 Carrot 4x Op08 Pedro 4x Op08 milky 4x Op08 Wanda 4x Op08 Zou 2x Op04 Because the side of justice.. 3x Op08 Garchu
sakazuki is terrible but black is so good, you can still win a bunch with him, without ever using his leader ability, 5 life he can attack life is good
@@andrewkarki3845 gonna be honest, i dont like this decklist...u could try cards like el thor, blaze slice, it you who should dissapear, franky egghead, yellow capone, the rush katakuri or yellow cracker
Honestly I considered Raki, she's finally a decent card now with this leader. Still, I'd honestly just rather have the 2k counters in hand. So many times when playing this deck you can just bait your opponent into swinging all-in at life, and then you casually counter of 15k, and just win the next turn lol. So since it's working so well already, I feel I don't need Raki personally
Love the content as always, I was really happy to see your solid gameplay and funny rewinds this video! Love you playing "ol' reliable" especially since I plan to play her in the 4 regionals this upcoming month. I did want to ask you with ST13 (B/Y) and ST14 (Black) Luffy on the rise majority topping in these last 2 OP08 events how would you alter this OP08 decklist? Does 5c Luffy and 8c Rosi rejoin the deck list? Do we lower the Zoro count? The 8c kid feels currently good vs zoro, kat, and the mirror like you said, but I think with so many black decks topping there will be higher ratios of games where we won't play it. *big sad* BUT I did really respect how you played it in that pudding matchup, you got great value from it. I also noticed your Bonney lists have stayed steady running just the Bonney searcher instead of the double searcher engine, which is cool and I'll give it a shot :) I'm not sure if you do any type of coaching or just have a few minutes in discord one of these days but I'd love to discuss Bonney's OP08 matchups/deck builds. If you do not have the time I understand, still a big fan of the videos you get out here for us bud✊ Discord: TinyMononoke
Hey! To answer your question in short: Yes, my list changed because of the rise of the two black decks. In summary I removed Zoro completely. I’m play-testing heavily with 2 different lists but currently am liking the single searcher package with Bonney. I will for sure be posting Bonney videos where I no doubt will run into a bunch of black decks. Keep an eye out for those and let me know what you think. Those should be more informative. Thanks for your comment and appreciate the support!
loved and subscribed ! Can you pretty please make a guide deck ? Like what's the gameplan vs Meta Decks like Lucci, ST14 Luffy and Blue Dofla ... etc ? ^^ Thank you very much ! keep going !
I've been running 2 copies of 9c Zoro instead of kid as my boss character and it has come in clutch and won me several matches. Def going to test kid tho to see if it's better or not
Zoro is definitely terrifying! In some matchups I can see him being perfect. But oftentimes, Law is down to 1 life from very early on, and dropping a 9c Zoro can be a little risky, whereas 8c Kid gives you some good defense. And combos really nicely with Brook and/or Cavendish. But if Zoro's working for you, roll with it. I might try and test it as well!
@@WillofDDT ah yeah that makes sense. I think the best combo you can do with 9c Zoro is on your 10 don turn use Law's shambles to get whatever you need out on the board (I.e. if you wanna build defense bring out law blocker->chopper blocker), then attack w/ Cavendish to bring back 2 don and then play 9c Zoro
I'm sure the Kid Killer will come up clutch here and there, but by and large Zoro is better for the deck, and more searchable. Consistency is better than diversity usually
Bro i'm trying to figur out a deck list for ruff but with the new support i think its still bether without , like card like magelan , kaido pquli , these cards are pretty good
How does 7c Kid help? Don't get us wrong, we think it's a solid deck but Doffy's gonna be very tough for Pluffy, particularly if they start putting Gravity Blades back in
@@WillofDDT you go 4c6k into 7c8k + 5c6 into spam 7c kid is what is happening right now in OP09 meta. Watch IKailaKai's video on it. Pluffy is only using a couple new 09 cards but the core is the same
I feel like the Smoker deck is more slept on. that new 5 drop tashigi is so strong with its trash ability and -4 cost to anything that it lets the deck shine.
That Tashigi is AMAZING, finally makes Smoker's leader ability feel efficient. Always felt like a very clunky leader ability otherwise. We have some friends who insist Smoker can become the new Control deck of the format, even better than Lucci, especially since it can make use of the Navy HQ Stage. We're skeptical to be honest, but we'd happy to be proven wrong and see Smoker rise to the top!
I don’t think Hawkins restands after attacking leader. 13:24 The card pecifically states after attacking a character it restands. Still a decent card but it definitely cannot steal game off life.
Hawkins restands himself if he BATTLES a character, not ATTACKS a character. So even if I declare an attack with Hawkins at my opponent's Leader - if the opponent uses a Blocker to stop the attack, Hawkins still ultimately battled a character, and therefore will restand. That's the scenario I was describing, sorry if I didn't make it clear.
I'd say it's a little tough. The best spot would be to replace the Zoros or 8c Kids. But the 8c Kids give nice defense, and the Zoros are double-searchable and playable off of Blocker Law, while KidKiller is not. So I think it's sorta hard to fit it in honestly
I've considered it, and I acknowledge it can be really good, but I think it's worse than Kid for a couple reasons. One, it's not searchable. Two, unlike Kid, he doesn't force the opponent to swing at him, so he doesn't offer any protection from your opponent's swings. But Rosinante + Luffy is a really sick combo that basically locks your opponent from KO'ing anything on your board, which is super cool - But only useful against black decks. Kid I think is more useful against all matchups. If the meta ends up being a CostReduction+KO focused deck, maybe Rosinante is the move. But in a diverse meta, Kid is better overall
In Korea, we are in OP2 format still, so I'm surprised to see there isn't too much of a difference over there! Love the upgrades though. Do you have any suggestion for what I could use as a hidden trump card in the Korean format? I'm entering my first tournament on the weekend with law.
Thanks for watching! I forgot Korea is in OP2 right now! Obviously, you won't be able to play Canvendish or Green Luffy, but the rest of the deck remains about the same. I would recommend running 2 copies of Red 5c Unlockable Luffy, 2 copies of Basil Hawkins, 3 copies of Dadan, and copies of Restand Law! You can also put in 1 X-Drake if you like. But other than that, no, no secret weapons I can think of haha 😅 Best of luck, hope you win the tournament!
@@go_gonu Yes I actually do think Kid would be very good; I would play 2 copies! Once again, due to there not being any Cavendish in OP2, you can't do the 8-Don combo that I discussed in the video, but you CAN still do the 10-Don Kid combo: On 10-Don, play Kid, activate him to play Brook, Brook activates to attach two rested Don to Kid, and then you can use your remaining 2 active Don for Leader ability, returning Brook to play a 5-cost Green card. You get a ton of value out of this combo just generally, and it should help you against aggressive decks like Whitebeard and Zoro!
holy shid man. I am impressed with your combos. I have always wanted to play this deck but didn't have the cards until recently. I decided to make a chopper variant of the deck and it's been pretty fun. I have been struggling with some of the plays though because there are so many lines. Have you tried any animal/chopper builds with Law at all? I might try this list but I got all the choppers so I might just play with that for now, but I am curious what you thought of that engine.
Hey, thanks for watching, and yes this leader is the king of epic combos 😄! Lots of lines to learn for sure, when I started with this leader I would spend so much time thinking on my turns lol. But as you get more reps with the deck you'll start memorizing all of them easily and remember exactly how much Don they cost. I can't say I've ever tried an animal/Chopper engine for the deck. I'm not sure how well it would work honestly, only because one of Law's main things is that he wants to run a lot of searchers with overlapping targets, and recycle those searches a lot. Unfortunately, I don't think Animals overlap with a lot of other types. Nami/Bonney/Dadan work really well, because they have quite a few overlapping search targets. If that Chopper build is working for you though I'd love to see it!
@@WillofDDT I am trying to post a pic of the list but I don't think YT will let me. it's just 19 copies of chopper and a supernova/strawhat package. carrot is there too. you can be my samurai is a tech to make up for cards and you just shambles the rest cards anyway.
@@nobodysbusinezz Ahhh gotcha, I gotta say Carrot is a very good include! If you're still running enough Supernovas and StrawHats then maybe the search synergy actually works fine! I've always considered You Can Be My Samurai, also seems very smart for the deck, glad to hear you've tried it and like it! Unique build! Will definitely take plenty of people by surprise
@@WillofDDT thanks. Yeah it's more for the novelty of saying in playing a build that's basically half chopper. It can fill board really efficiently. The new op08 chopper getting cards off top of deck is pretty huge.
@@WillofDDT so I tried the sanji Mihawk build weren’t a fan I prefer the 10 drop Kaido. My main issue is if I play black like lucci or Moria I struggle I think I get stuck with do I swing board or leader
Two things: I'm 99% sure issho effect allows garp minus the cost of a 10 cost character to 6 cost. Also have you tested the navy stage for a little bit of extra neg?
Yup, I mention exactly that in the vid 👍 By attaching one Don to Issho, you can bring a 10c down to 6c. Have not tested the stage tbh. That's an interesting idea honestly, definitely clutch when you're just a little short of getting those big enemy units into range of your KO's 🤔
Have you thought about finding room for the other 1 drop Nami? Its easy to remove, but every turn its on the field you can attach a rested Don, so you get the Garp effect without using your active Don.
In my previous Garp builds, I've definitely tried to take advantage of Rested Don attachment effects. The problem with Don Nami is that she is not searchable by Searcher Nami. Personally, if I were to try to fit more Rested Don effects into this build, I would use the 2c Luffy from OP1. He attaches two Rested Don to himself, so you can trigger Garp's effect twice off of him. He's also searchable. And can swing at the opponent's life if you want him to
You need 5c Luffy ST01-012, has Rush and by giving 2 Don!! Opponents can't activate blockers when attacking. He is a powerhouse for a red deck. 10c Luffy ST10-006 is similar, got Rush, when attacking if the opponent activates a blocker, K'O an 8000cp character.
Yeah unfortunately there's a lot of cards that we just don't have space for in this build because it's meant to be a KO Effect focused build. I'd love to throw rush cards in here, but the deck space is just too tight If you want to see a Red/Black leader who abuses Unblockable Luffy and has some other Rush cards, check out the Red/Black Sabo Deck profile we uploaded a few months ago!
Sure, but you could attach 2 Don to any unit to achieve the same thing. Luffy himself isn't helping the primary goal of the deck. Neither does the Franky that I've included in this list to be fair - but at least Franky has counter. 5c Luffy does not have counter and doesn't really aid in either cost reduction or KO. I don't think it's a great fit for this list personally. But if I had to cut something to make room for Luffy, I think I'd cut Franky. I will admit, having an Unblockable Rush is always nice to have for the end game. But mid-game, I do think establishing the Zombie Luffy is more important for this deck's playstyle
I agree, the rush luffy has no synergy at all. If you want to play a rush character, I think kid and killer is better. On 8, you can theoretically play moria, revive k&k und red brook, attach two don to him from brook and seing for a big number.
@@gentlemanzgi3512 Absolutely, Moria into a Rush unit from grave feels really good, and is a play I would do with R/B Sabo all the time. But unfortunately this deck just doesn't have the space 😔
Wow i'm surprised there is no Black Nico robin here for the massive cost reduction. Personally any Garphat list I cook up runs her just because a Ice age every turn she is unanswered just does so much work for my testing. Are you considering teching in any of the Animal kingdom pirate cards coming out in OP08, like maybe the 2k counters or Jack? Jack being basically a 11 cost means he also can hold up Frankie's anti KO effect better than others as he has to be reduced more to go below frankie's threshold.
Thanks for watching! I personally felt Nico Robin was a little too slow when I tested her, especially since you need an 8+ already on board. I feel Issho gets the job done himself. But I do like your suggestion of Jack, he certainly compliments the cards that want high-cost characters, and also works really well with Garp's leader ability. Would definitely test Jack for an OP8 build!
@WillofDDT one more thing to consider about Jack is he helps you if your on the Odd Don curve, as he is not only the 7 cost play, but also sets up a combo with a follow up play with Either of the 8 costs you run. For issho for example he allows you to not only hurt your opponents hand on play but also allow Jack to KO a 6 cost or less on your 9 Don turn while filtering a card in hand if you play issho., ANd, if your playing moria next turn you can actually use Jack to put Hina or Rebecca into your trash thanks to the draw and trash effect the previous turn, use gecko to do the combo, and off of hina's reduction allow you to to kill a 8 cost or if you brought back a Rebecca and a 2k brook from your trash, even a 10 cost if your fighting a purple ramp deck like pudding (thanks to Garp knocking then down a extra 2 from the brook attach.) He just allows so many swing plays while also being such a fat body to get rid of so he is able to be a pretty constant enabler for the straw hats. That's what I found in my testing anyway. Personally think it might actually make this leader more of a sleeper threat. But whether or not you go down that route I wish you luck on your locals journey into 0p08 my guy.
@@Starocean56 Phenomenal explanation! I didn't need more convincing to be honest, but as you explained it more I'm sold beyond the shadow of a doubt on Jack being an auto-include for this deck. It makes a lot of sense, and I'm excited to update this build for OP8!
Ive been running a garphat list too Id swap the stage for the draw event cause worst case it is a draw and best case set up a sanji pop Its hella fun either way always enjoy garp
Ah, I see it now, it's called "I Have My Crew." Actually a pretty solid choice. I guess the only issue is that you need to play it the same turn you plan to drop Sanji, whereas Stage can be setup a turn before. But that Draw 1 is SUPER valuable. I'm gonna try out your recommendation!
Definitely have considered both, it's just hard to make room. If you put in KidKiller, I'd drop Zoro, and if you put in Dragon, I'd cut some of the blockers, maybe one Luffy
18:41 if opponent just plays Rebecca Spandine instead of just Spandine we lose the game. Basically they played around Hody which doesnt make a lot of sense in that spot I think.
I think you have a good point in that Reiju is not an extremely oppressive deck. However, we place it so high not because it's unbeatable, but because it doesn't really have any *bad* matchups into the rest of the meta, whereas almost every other deck does. In our experience, Reiju does suffer a little bit into BY Luffy, but even that is winnable for her.
That's actually a really great question, cuz technically there isn't any "Once Per Turn" clause in Issho's card text - but the answer is no. The "End Of Your Turn" clause in One Piece is an activation window that only occurs once. You're not allowed to continue repeating the effect. If an effect happens at the end of your turn, it effectively has a "Once Per Turn" clause built-in.
It's sure dominating those topcuts! An excellent BY Luffy Player will probably get further than an excellent Law, you're right about that. But for the majority of players, Luffy hates that Bonney matchup, whereas Law just isn't too scared of any opponent in particular
Honestly fair - gonna be honest, we just forgot about it 😅. We feel it falls in a similar category to RP Luffy. It can give some of the top decks a hard time, like, say, vs Lucci if it gets double Magellans. But its key units all being 6k power is tough when facing Law. Some quite good matchups, some really bad - but with specific pieces it needs in specific matchups, and no way to search them, it's overall a very risky pick for a regional we'd say
Honestly, we'd agree with you. Reiju is an extremely capable deck, and it probably can go up a tier. It just has a bad matchup into what we believe will be the most prevalent deck of regionals, so we put it in Tier 2. Outside that one matchup, it's a very solid deck
@@WillofDDT Thats true, but its a rock-paper-scisors meta. Everyone has a bad MU. You put lucci in tier one even tho he hard loses to BY Luffy. Yes, she isnt the best, but she has good MU vs Black, Enel, Nami and i guess even vs Blue and bonney.
