Art demonstrations, television clips and promotional videos for bestselling kid's lit author and illustrator, Tony DiTerlizzi.
#1 New York Times bestselling author and illustrator, Tony DiTerlizzi, has been creating children’s books for over twenty years. From fanciful picture books like The Spider & The Fly, to chapter books like The Search for WondLa, DiTerlizzi imbues his stories with rich imagination. With Holly Black, he created the middle-grade series, The Spiderwick Chronicles, which has sold 20 million copies, been adapted into a feature film, and translated in over thirty countries. The Norman Rockwell museum’s retrospective, “Never Abandon Imagination”, featured artwork from the beginning of DiTerlizzi’s career as a contributing artist for Dungeons & Dragons and broke attendance records. He has been featured in Time magazine, USA Today, CNN, PBS, NPR the BBC and The Today Show.
Even if it's 3 years ago... uploading this at 360p is slightly hypocritical in contrast to your enthusiasm to share. Still, definitely worth watching, thanks.
I just watched the WondLa series and it was pretty dang good! Looking forward for season 2 that revolves around the second book. Hope we get to see Hailey and Eva eight, and see Eva with white hair in Season 3
All these fantastic pieces really spark my drive for more fantasy in this world. However, this proves to be a difficult task for me. So if I may ask, for fantasy creatures like in Spiderwick chronicles and dragons where did you look for your inspirations? This technique/style has always been a fantasy staple but I could never manage to find other sources. If anyone else can answer this question please anything will help. Good Vibes.
Dear Tony DiTerlizzi, I have written to you before when I was younger which was a few years ago, I wrote to express my feelings about you and how passionate I am about your work, I would like to say that I am close to finishing a book just because I felt inspired by you and your information! In one of your videos I have seen that you used an « Oatmeal sketchbook » but of very fine quality, and I have found to be very interested in such a sketchbook because I love drawing and am interested in drawing fantasy like what you do! But I can not seem to find it and hope you could recommend a website, if you cannot find one, that would be fine since it would just be an honour to talk to you! Sincerely , Levin
The cool thing is = when OG authors of the game play D&D, they play it just like the rest of us - no theater level acting, they argue with each other, the come up with dumb ideas and even dumber jokes. It shows what a universal game D&D truly is!
Thank you a lot for sharing this, it’s so inspiring and interesting to look and listen what you have to tell about these artists who had an influence on you and so many others. 😊
This was so interesting, as someone who studied Art History, this was wonderful and definitely reminded me of my bestest teachers who made each lesson so fascinating you could listen for hours and be captivated by every new info and picture!
Fantastic info and dive into pen and ink. Well done! Love to see you take a trip through the stunning Robert Lawson ("Ferdinand" - talk about a master of negative space!) and the charming pony world of Norman Thelwell...
OK, let me get this straight. David freaking Zeb Cook is DM’ing for Tony DiTerlizzi, Larry Elmore, AND. Steven Erickson?!?!?!?!?!?! In a B/X game? Good grief, why are there not 50 million views on this???? ❤❤❤
I would LOOOVE to see some of the variants of giants that were mentioned in Beyond Spiderwick, like the two-headed one. And maybe the Grace Children could add a section on Spriggans!
Love your work, I just wanted to share that I can't find a really good book on writing anthropomorphic stories and creating anthropomorphic characters. I'm talking about a HOW TO BOOK. I don't see a lot of writers and artist producing such a book. Can you recommend one?
