This channel will be a smorgasbord of content, but related to my life as a Suburbia Dad in the Midwest. I'll be sharing videos about... mostly Lawn Care, some Grilling, some Jeep JK, and Reviews. I'm just an average guy in my 40’s who enjoys work around my house. I'm a self described introverted-extrovert and I enjoy watching RU-vid content. I am just here to have some fun and share some content. I enjoy being creative and learning.

Thank YOU!!! I don't know if you're reading the comments, but I have a question: Do you have issues with the deck belt tearing/breaking after cutting the grass 4-5 times? If not, what could I look at or do to prevent it from happening?
Hi! Thanks for watching!!! I didn’t have that issue. Here are some ideas… It could be pulleys that are worn down or not greased up. They would spin slower or not at all. If the belt is flying on them and friction / heat / improper wear would cause them to fail. Another idea could be the top of the deck not being clean. Material could get built under the covers and cause issues. Last idea, replacement belts are wrong size. Too tight or loose could cause issues with friction / heat / improper wear. Let me know if you find anything. Genuinely curious.
Love the video, found it 3 years later😂 thank you. If you wanted to use a tow behind trailer like that Gorilla Cart you have, you probably have to take it all apart?
Is the sharpening taking place when the grinding compound is coming in contact with the knife bed in reverse? Is this the reason to tighten the bed knife prior to sharpening? Did you readjust the bed knife afterwards so it’s making less contact?
Yes, aim for very very close but not touching. This will allow the reel to spin at high speed and be much easier on you and the mower. Lapping hones the top of the bed knife but does nothing for the front of the knife. That tiny edge is where the cut happens, you will need to loosen the bed knife as far away as possible and then sharpen the front edge with a flat file or other tool.
Looks like you enjoy the Time master more by watching your pace. You had a more leisurely pace with it. That’s what it’s about for me. Love my Time master!
You can’t beat it! And when compared to the commercial versions, Turfmaster and Commerical 30, it’s so much easier to operate and turn. I am a big fan of the Personal Pace. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I like 4 to 4.25 on most mows. Sometimes I do the parkway area by the road at 4.25 and everything else at 4. The heat from the road and sidewalk heat up that section too much sometimes. So, I let it be a little taller.
Same mower. I had a bad ignition coil and bought an oem one from local dealer. Put new spark plug in it and then cleaned carb. It runs rough. Very rich. Recleaned the carb like in this video but no luck. It fouls the plug in about an hour. No oil in the gas. Good gas. I’m at my wits end.
Maybe adjust the throttle or new OEM carb? It could be idling to low of RPM’s. In my experience, sometimes cleaning a carb isn’t enough. You just have to get a new one. I like OEM for this. I think this is the one… amzn.to/3WXBNxX Otherwise, it might be time to FB Market and look for a replacement. Hope this helps and good luck!
@@theSuburbiaDad Thank you for the reply. I found it’s puffing air out the intake. So maybe valves or bad head gasket. I’m taking it down the road to a local small engine shop. Thank you again.
Because a current is being induced in the meter's wire by the expanding and collapsing magnetic field created by the spark plug wire, there was no need to strip the meter wire, compromising its integrity.
The original ones can be upgraded by taking them apart and replacing the bearings with a better quality bearing. I did mine two years ago and still going strong.
I will NEVER understand why people think they need to add music to a video while they are talking and giving instructions or advice. Damn it people it RUINS the damn video.
Usually 4 to 4.5. Taller grass is definitely easier to stripe. Rarely under that range until Fall. I don’t think my ground level is smooth enough for under 3. I would probably blast the high spots out the side discharge. 😂 Thanks for watching!
Great video and thanks for sharing!! From what I can tell your lawn looks great. I just purchased a 42" Ikon and after the 1st mow put G6 Gator Blades on it. What a difference it made in clipping size and discharge. You'd swear you mulched it without all the clumps when you're done. I have been using them for years, but when I got the IKON the factory blades cut well, but left a mess in the yard because I can only get to mine once a week or so. They are pretty heavy, but will last forever. Also, a riding mower jack goes a long way for accessing that deck and keeping poo poo from running down your leg 😄
Blades make such a difference! I’ve never tried Gators. I’ve heard nothing but great things about them! And I agree about a jack. I’ve been using a Ballard V2, so fast and no 💩 on my leg. 😂 Thanks for watching!
I have been very fortunate, my stock pulleys on my 21199 model still are in great shape after 2 yrs and my timing belt still looks new. The only two things I have had to replace which I fixed yesturday is the pto belt and the blade engagment cable.
You’re a unicorn! 🦄 I’ve had a TurfMaster and Commercial 30, and I still like the handle bar / controls more on the Timemaster. Cut quality seemed just as good as well. The commerical models are not the most comfortable to use on your hands! Thanks for watching!
@@theSuburbiaDad I prefere the personal pace. Being diabetic with neurapathy I can set the pace I want, basically better for me. Don't know what the unicorn stuff is about but to each their own I suppose.
@mrgreen2769 a unicorn object is something no one ever finds or is hard to find. Your stock pulleys going strong, it’s a unicorn find! Love the personal pace. I wish that was in the commerical line!!!
Changing oil on my Apex again but this time installing aftermarket drain hose to make it easier to drain the oil. Also finishing up on the lights installation, mounting the smaller ones on my engine guard both to the sides and rear to help when heading back into the barn. If I ever see you at a GetGo gas station I’ll show pics. (I deliver gas to their stores)
Here is the one I got…. amzn.to/3Xvxqeu It’s no longer available. I feel like people have used this one… amzn.to/3VOwEYH It looks identical to what I have. If you try it, let me know if it fit! Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.
I would like to suggest spraying the underside with some silicon spray once it has been cleaned. The type of spray you can get at Wally World to waterproof a tent. Inexpensive and no oil to further clog the deck.
After adjusting the height on my Earthwise it clunks more now? I never took the C clips off like an idiot or maybe their called E clips im not sure. Any ideas why? Both wheels spin the blades so the gears should be in the right spot. Also there is play on the wheel guard casing thing. It seems like it should be flush but it moves around a little. Is that normal?
It sound like, maybe, the reel is too close to the bed knife. Adjust the screws on either side until it spins freely with as little gap as possible between the knife and reel. That’s my best guess. When I’ve had clunk sounds that was why. Hope this helps!
I suppose it would depend on the engine you have. It should be in the manual for the Kohler and Kawasaki. Hope that helps! I’m sure by now you found it. Thanks for watching!
Nice install! I have the exact same set up on my Husqvarna MZ52. Awesome lights and very inexpensive! I like them soo much I also just installed the same setup again on a new DeWalt 54" zero turn I just picked up. I did it slightly different on install, I connect directly to the battery with the ring terminals that came with the led light harness. I removed the included switch as you did and used these switch wires to tie into the key switch. This kept the load off my mowers electrical and directly on the battery. Now is this better for such a low use set up, who knows, the results are the same and the light is amazing! Just another way to do it!
There are a million ways do to anything and get the same result. So, if it works, perfect! Love the collection you’re building. Keep it up! Thanks for watching!
Lawn looks amazing! I sold my 52” ariens ikon because i built a new house but alot smaller lot! Im torn between buying toro 30” push or new ariens 36” zero turn! Any suggestions?
If you have the space to store a ride on, I would ride. 😆 Are you talking about the Edge? Timemasters are nice. I swapped my pulleys out right away for the Exmark ones. It’s a common fail point. The cut is sweet though. I always side discharged. I think it cut better shooting the clipping out the side. But, if you can ride, I’d ride. You might consider a small stand on? I have a 36 stand on and it’s sweet.
@@theSuburbiaDad professional reel mowers has goven cuts per meter or foot/inch. That means how many times reel knifes will meet bed knife during 1 meter ride. The higher the less ribbon effect you will see on the lawn when cut low. I will be gratefull if you could measure wheel diameter or circumference and how many times reel will cut during one full wheel rotation.
It’s nice to be able to make one less trip! If I used the bracket, it would stick out further than I wanted. So, I modified the install slightly. 😆 I was thinking particularly on my 36. It needs to stay that to get in and out of gates. Anyways, thanks for watching as always!
