Got any suggestions? I would love to hear what’s impeding your progress. What information is missing in your art toolbox?
Thanks so much Alex. I have been painting and drawing for 36 years. Many of the skills that we use are not natural but can be developed. If you use focus effort at attempting to improve each core skill you can go build your skills to an incredible level.
Thank you for the response! I've been trying to draw for 2 months. (Short time, I know.) Most of the art courses and videos recommend the ghosting method, but sadly, I don't have enough control over my arms to do it correctly. Because of this, I am trying to freehand everything. If I put focused effort into my art, could I eventually be able to freehand circles and lines? Is it a pipe dream?
@@alexlaxson3261 you can learn it. Try some of the exercise that Peter Han recommends. His Dynamic Bible book is interesting. The exercise on the first few pages are very helpful in helping the learner rewire their neural pathways to allow for greater control. You mind can be adapted to what you want if your willing to do the required difficult work of deep practice.
You're right about the Thalo Blue and green, I use them both sometimes but I actually use the student quality because the artists are too strong and cause accidents. A little goes a long way even in the student brands.
@@TimothyJahnArt can you give a tutorial of drawing something where you have to use different values and techniques? ... I think it will help me understand how to use value when I am drawing something....
@@TimothyJahnArt subject of the drawing can be anything (building, natural scenery like mountain, trees, cars etc)...just let me understand where and how to use values....
Exactly. There are a lot of misconceptions about what we should and shouldn’t use. I have seen many of my students make great headway when they let all of those preconceptions go. Good luck with your paintings!
