Really excellent advice. Particularly the bit about better to do a little of this than not doing a “great” complex warm-up. Need to modify a bit for my wounded shoulder. But I’m gonna be doing this.
I'm not trying to nick pick. But you forgot the one major Golden rule. Do not let your head and or shoulders pause the imaginary line. On each side of the kayak. Otherwise you are going in the water most likely every time. If you need to pick some out of the water. It is best to lean forward as far as you can go. Then reach over the side and pick up whatever it is you are wanting to pick up. Not only this is a safer way. But also a easier way. I've seen too many people from beginners to intermediate make this mistake. Not only in kayaks but also in small boats. Like the canoes jon boats and flat bottom boats. I know it may seem funny now. But it lead into serious consequences. Especially around fast-moving water without white capping. Due to the cause of undertow. That can keep you underwater for 2 mi or more. Another reason why you must wear a pfd (personal flotation device) to help you stay on top of the water. Thank you for pointing out the mistakes people make. Especially for beginners. It helps me reinforced what I teach my kids and grandkids. The next generation of kayakers. 😊👍
Great series of stretches! Some of those I do, some were new and I'll definitely try them. I got 10 years on you Dan, and yeah, the stiffness problem only gets worse!
sorry for your loss brother, but know this your friend would want you to NEVER give up what you love and that's Kayaking and watersports, also keep going for those of us who wish we could but can't for whatever reason, do it for yourself and us, thanks brother.
Hands down best all round kayak channel out there we appreciate you sharing your knowledge and opinions! Quick question if I may, regarding the FeelFree Moken 10 V2 any suggestions to make that storage hatch water tight? I don’t get much water in there but occasionally it happens ty!
And I thought this would be safer than street bikes because I'm known several people to die from them. Sorry you all had to go through that brother. Ouch! Life is so short and precious. Speachless.
Great tips, all around. Best tip was life jacket. You saved me from going out and getting the wrong type. Thanks again. Subscribed. going to check out your other videos.
Amazing video as always! Very informative. I just bought and reviewed a GoPlus inflatable tandem kayak myself. I had a hard shell Pelican Angler before and was skeptical of the inflatable type but they are amazing. Can you review the GoPlus tandem inflatable as well, if you have a chance and see what you think? Not many reviews out there for it. Thanks and keep up the good work! 👏🏻😊
Hi Dan. Nice video. I thought I knew all Valley boats but the one you are sitting in I do not know. Could you tell me what it is? I own several Valley boats and found a 55 jears old Anas Acuta on marketplace as well. Happy as a child. Greetings from Holland.
Hey there. Love your videos! I have a question. Which one do you think is better for fishing? The Tamarack pro or the Pelican catch classic 100? Which one would you buy ?
19:25 Oooooh! Is that why sculling and rowing boats are so thin and narrow to cut the water for maximum speed? That makes sense less drag from the water?
Do you have a video on how to enter and exit the kayak when thete are some waves coming ashore? Here on the Bras d'Or it's not like ocean waves, but sometimes on a regular afternoon there could be one or two foot waves. Thanks.
We lost our first golden retriever to what we think was a brain tumor. Seeing you so emotional about Dax brings it all back. Awesome pups. ❤ You've got an awesome channel, and I'm sure you are giving Dax the best life possible for a dog.
Misleading title. Advanced skills?? Well presented but basic strokes and bracing are NOT advanced skills. I would re-name this. Surfing, navigation in fog, paddling and rolling in rough water (>3 ft swells) is what I would expect to hear about in a tutorial of advanced skills.
Thats a lot of skills i wouldn't of learned on my own. And it is passed the basics of going forward, and simple turns. But understanding and breaking down more ways to turn in different occasions. Its definitely not just beginner🤨
Dang seeing how cheap these are in these videos are crazy even tho you said they are up priced. I’m 2024 you aren’t paying anything less than 300 for a basic kayak
Good for you! Is that your first kayak? I got my first kayak a little over a year ago: Crescent LiteTackle 2. I’m thinking about expanding my fleet with a Crescent UltraLite, so I have some variety, though mainly so I can take a friend out and share the experience with others.
NOOB(ish) ALERT! The getting in and out of the water. I figured that out on my own with my new kayaks. It just seemed obvious. I wondered why the paddles had different 'holes' in the paddles. I did not know the feather setting. Thanks for that!!! Best advice is your comment 'consider more than just the boat'. Having the wrong gear is not going to be fun. I am still learning. Great video, thanks.
