I can't believe they stole the score from the original "Cape Fear" by Bernard Herrmann. De Niro is no Robert Mitchum. I guess Hollywood ran out of new ideas even before this remake.

If I Made This Version Of Cape Fear, Here's Who I Would Cast. I Would Cast Bob Balaban As Max Cady And Arnold Schwarzenegger As Sam Bowden. I'd Have Arnold Seen As He's Never Been Seen Before. He'd Be COMPLETELY SHREDDED(YES! Not All Big And Bulky And All 'Roided Up!) Whereas Mr.Balaban would be all muscled up and shown as Arnold's Physical Superior, Plus I'd have Bob sporting a goatee as he played Max Cady. You see, I think that having those two actors switch places...one who is a little beanpole get all muscled up and the other shrink down to a beanpole would make it all the more terrifying!
Cape fear is one of many theatrical representations of the general rape of the the justice system. Or the diety of that. We love this movie because we relate to both characters. In different ways.
man. De Niro used to be in the top tier. This is one of my favorites. He really nailed that kinda ambiguous Louisiana Florida Georgia southern accent...What might be kinda friendly under other circumstances becomes kind of menacing and taunting within the context of the movie. Dude used to really go all in. It's a shame what he's become.
