some questions: 1) Why did you wait so much before getting the shield spell? 2) How do you make the save screen appear? (I've heard Up+A, but it doesn't work for my emulator) 3) (by the way) What emulator do you use? 4) Why Midoro palace before Parapa? 5) Why do you cancel level ups? 6) Do you remember the dungeon maps by memory? 7) Some general tips&tricks for beginners? thanks you in advance, if you'll happen to answer, and congrats for the run
For 2, press Up+A on the second controller while the menu is open. Your other questions can all be answered by the phrase "optimal routing." Cancelling level ups in particular allows you to get attack levels up faster (you don't lose the experience when cancelling, so it goes towards the next level up)
how hard would you say is it to 100% this? ive played a good amount of 2D platformers both modern and classic and i would appreciate it if you could give me a score from 1-10 in terms of completion difficulty. this game looks delightful but im not sure right now if i want to dedicate myself to complete it if it turns out to be insanely difficult.
@@teero121 ohh that's a good question, while the platforming isn't too too hard in this, it has a lot of trial and error being a "puzzle platformer." you're required to 1cc (not game over) the regular levels in order to get the true ending, which I've done before on NES. if you play this specific version of the game you'll get rewind which will help learn the hard parts, and the game is pretty short. I'd say overall probably about a 7.5/10 but that's just me LOL I think there's plenty of harder games on NES, ninja gaiden being one of them. you could do it!! let me know what you think if you get around to it
@@Lite_zed oh really? i didnt get the impression of this being a puzzle platformer. then again i havent watched much gameplay but I got a decent impression of what to expect now difficulty-wise thanks to your description. ill try to remember to get back to you if i decide to pick this game up. thanks again.
“No major glitches” world record. You can add any criterion and make it a world record Check out my Zelda 2 speed run while sitting on my forearms world record 5:07:43
this is a really great way to diminish someone's fun thing they did on the internet while also showing how uneducated you are on a subject. the big discord channel we have of all the Zelda ii runners pretty much get together and discuss what's allowed in a speedrun category. you can also find the leaderboard for Zelda ii speedrunning online that will show all the different categories we have, the rules and all the different skilled people that play them! I probably have about 5000 hours or more in this game and have enjoyed learning every aspect of it with others. with your attitude you'll never accomplish anything nearly as meaningful as the runs and friends I've made playing this game.
@@Lite_zed I’m fluent in Japanese. Does that count as meaningful? By the end of the year, I’ll also have (finally) opened up my own small business. But yeah, I guess you’re right. It doesn’t quite compare to an unofficial world record speed-run with no major glitches.
What is considered major or not varies by community standards. This run used to be called simply “100%” and glitches are allowed, then some very wild glitches were found, changing the name of this catagory. (Or something like that)
thank you! I greatly appreciated having your run to make notes from. might give the all humans saved route a shot while this game still feels fresh and fun
@@Lite_zed I'm glad others are trying this game out because you have no idea how frustrating it was to figure out the trigger for the wall cutscene lol. No idea how I didn't realize the demon alice was faster, but that certainly helps bring the time down. Best of luck if you go for All humans, I would go insane unless it was on easy and friendly fire was gone.
Oh rightttt. I just "beat" the game. I was pretty confused and disappointed with the ending, clicked 'Quit' and assumed I'd accidentally started a new game, then closed the game completely. Did not realise it was a fake ending until I came here
I have to wonder how putting multiple crystals in the same palace counts as no major glitches. But then again, I'm not a speed runner, so... Either way, well played.
Yeah 3 crystals in palace 1. Didn't know that was possible but looks like a glitch. It's probably like this: when putting a crystal in the palace the game register that you've used it and the next step for the game is to register the palace as beaten so you cannot re-visit it. Between these two moments you can do that "Up + A" or something (I guess it must be frame perfect) to restart the game so you can re-visit palace 1. For me it's impossible to say if this is a major or non-major glitch. But I love that I know about this thanks to this speedrun! I thought I've seen all glitches but this was a new one :)
not dumb at all, they're randomized but they're within a certain range of frequencies. let's say tree code is between like 150-200 and sword code is 200+, so you can always assume the signal that's coming in around there is the code you're looking for. quick radio being enabled in options let's us seek the frequency out before going into the menu
