The official RU-vid channel for the City of Conway, Arkansas.
Over 100 years ago, Conway made the strategic decision to pursue institutions of higher learning as a means of growing the Conway economy. That choice has paid countless dividends ever since. As the colleges have grown, so has their economic impact. Perhaps more importantly, over time they have laid the foundation for Conway’s modern workforce.
The presence of Hendrix College, the University of Central Arkansas, and Central Baptist College is without a doubt the reason Conway has such a remarkably young (median age 27.3) and educated (almost 40 percent with at least a bachelor’s degree) population. Those two qualities stand out nationally as the city competes for jobs in today’s economy. The result is a regional economy that has been recognized as one of the most diverse in the nation.
Very disappointed in the Planning Commission, they obviously do not care what the citizens want. There was a petition signed by 140 citizens and a dozen people in attendance to oppose rezoning so one person can build multiple duplexes for rent. He was the only person that spoke for it. and everyone else opposed it. IT is now time to take it to the city council. And it is an election year. There are some in the commission who voted for the measure to pass that have businesses in Conway, I will make sure never to do business with them or their employers and encourage others not to as well.
RIP - corner of dude's house - first 5 sided house? I'm thinking the trains should do circles too, but just a thought. Maybe the entire town could just be a giant circle? So many ideas. Only downfall: This could be the first time in history 2 cars could be hit by a train at the same spot.
I don't disagree but it is also easier for us to say that- bc we know the outcome. And they do deal with people who do this to try and get out of charges etc. it's a shame. But his passing wasn't bc of the officers. He ran. Had he not. He'd probably have wound up passing from the same thing- just a different manner. (Assuming this was a heart condition that was undetected)
Even if the police think the person is acting, they should still take everyone seriously when they say they don’t feel good, same as when someone says they have a bomb, most of the time they’re bs’ng but they still have to bring in the bomb squad etc; it’s happened one too many times where somebody has died in police custody because the police thought they were faking it. You can see this guy was distressed right from the beginning. I’m not saying it’s the cop’s fault, the guy had underlying medical issues like sickle cell disease. I just wish they would take it seriously because that one out of ten may not be acting. Let’s hope the family files a lawsuit.
This man is grey and going in and out of consciousness. Acute chest syndrome does not present as the standard shortness of breath like an asthma attack. How are they not educated on sickle cell disease and crisis.
I get that he evaded police but how can these people now automatically realize he's in acute chest syndrome from sickle cell crisis. Have they not been trained or see the other videos of cops allowing people to die under their care because of this exact thing.
He can't breath because his is being invaded by blood cells restricting him from oxygen. Sickle cell crisis acute chest syndrome. He has minutes to live.
I do believe it should be trained of medical conditions that can occur. Even tho this guy ran, he was going thru sickle cell crisis acute chest syndrome happens with dehydration amongst other things and leads to death rapidly. With black people they should be extremely aware of this. I've seen this happen in police chases too many times now.
Sickle cell crisis happens after excursion. He should have never ran. He may also not have known he has it. The cops didn't do anything wrong and what a run that police officer went on. Looks like it was mad hot out and they are wearing equipment.
Yea, go ahead a put in another stupid round a bout, instead of fixing the roads, harkriderstreet pass H3, is terrible along with other roads in town...
Thank you for your interest in Conway's continued development, Debbie. As you know, roundabouts are safer for pedestrians and vehicles alike! By reducing conflict points and impact speeds vs traditional intersections, accidents with injury drop by 70-80%, and all crashes fall by 35-50%. This frees up resources like Fire, Police, and EMT to better serve our community elsewhere, and that's before we even get into the increased traffic flow. As for Harkrider, there are developments in the works for the area you called out. If there are other specific areas you'd like to see improved, please contact our Transportation Department at 501-450-6165, and the Mayor's Office at 501-450-6110.
@CityofConwayArkansas I would just like to see the roads that we have, that in need of repairs fixed, I understand the round abouts, but, you get in some areas it's ridiculous, and alot of the people don't know how to use them
This isn't the first in custody death for Conway PD. Maybe they can explain why Mr. Morris was repeatedly tazed over and over, and why when Mr. Morris asked for an ambulance after telling officers about his heart, why no help was given? Why did they sit on top of him when he couldn't breathe? These are things Conway PD needs to answer! I feel so sorry for Lionel's family and girlfriend. His death was so unnecessary and could've been prevented. I don't think the police handled this well at all.
WOW! I have said it once & I'll say it again...COMPLY!!! None of this would have gone down had dude just COMPLIED. Right or wrong...COMPLY folks! It will be straightened out in the end, but, by non-compliance, situations just like this will always happen. Cops get blamed for shootings when, if the perpetrator would have only complied, the outcome would be different. Either folks can't understand, or WON'T understand, but they're quick to wanna riot, sue, become violent, blame Officers, everything EXCEPT realize that if their friend, loved one, son, daughter, parent, etc, would only have COMPLIED, then they wouldn't be in the position to wanna blame someone, other than who is actually the blame. Js... Someone mentioned it wasn't right that the Officers were laughing about it and someone replied, there's a thing called a nervous laugh. To that, I say... Sure...with the exception of the same Officer laughing & bragging about how he "Smashed Dudes Head Against The...", to 4 different fellow Officers he approached. THAT isn't a nervous laugh, that is straight up laughing AND bragging! Check out video times...26:26, 32:29, 33:47 AND 36:22! (I tried to pinpoint the exact video times, but they may be off a second or 2) I, 100%, back the blue, but THIS...just unprofessional & simply disgusting! I'm very curious as to what the Medical Examiner found in his/her investigation. What was the "Actual" cause of death? Because, if it was the result of having "his head slammed against the....", then, Houston...We Have A Problem! I cannot be the only one who picked up on this.
The cops should be sued all of them. If it was my family member they would pay I bet u that for sure. That was really excessive force only because he was of another race.
THEY KILLED THAT MAN. EVEN I CAN SEE HE WASN'T BREATHING RIGHT. WTF IS WRONG WITH THEM COPS. THEY SHOULD ALL BE PUT IN JAIL. IT DID NOT TAKE ALL THAT TO PUT HIM IN CUSTODY.
The lay person wouldn’t recognize the signs of distress in him it takes a lot of education and experience, the constant requests to change position, saying his arms are tired bc he can’t hold up his own weight, saying he’s dizzy, holding his mouth open, bobbling his head, saying “please” but not being able to articulate what he needs, not being able to finish sentences, his head falling in front of him, the fighting against them is involuntary he can’t help it, he’s fighting for his life, when they put the oxygen on him they should have requested the cuffs be removed in case CPR is needed, they got the proper O2 level and I heard the EMT say “no that’s not right” bc it was so low and the guy was still talking and shouldn’t have been. now the squad messed up they should have put a pulse ox on him IMMEDIATELY they messed up for real, they shouldn’t have asked all those questions, check O2 first ask questions after, they actually enraged me. They kept flipping him around checking his pockets “he’s trying to cover up whatever that is” he was fighting for breath, I’m just sad EMT’s didn’t advocate for their patient more. I’m sad for his family. EMT actually says “the pulse OX isn’t registering” they had objective data they just ignored it, if anyone is to blame it’s them they are medically trained. The officer says he can put the cuffs in front, they shoulda done that a long time ago. I wonder if this guy knew he had sickle cell, he could have been properly treated if they had that information, just heartbreaking all you ppl that fake not being able to breath or the ones that can’t breath bc of anxiety are the reason they didn’t take this man seriously if the other people would stop being idiots maybe officers would have taken this man seriously a lot sooner. The whole thing is tragic and so difficult to watch.
It looked like he put something in his mouth that’s why he was in that position. The problem is that everyone that gets arrested asks for an ambulance to get out of going to jail, this guys actually seems to be struggling, I would have noticed that immediately and called a squad but I also went to RN school, to the lay person he just seems out of breath, the fact that he’s saying he can’t breath should be a clue though, officers should keep a pulse ox in their cars but then that makes them medically liable if they check it and don’t do that right thing, after a reasonable amount of time if he’s still acting like he’s trying to catch his breath then they should have called a squad. They should have removed his cuffs as soon as he started bobbing his head around, again then wouldn’t know this it takes a lot of training and education to recognize unusual signs of lack of oxygen. He wasn’t able to speak these officers should have known and he asked to be held up and he couldn’t even hold his head up. I’m so sad they didn’t recognize his distress it makes me so sad.
Car shaking like it's on it's last leg! Lots don't know you're supposed to inspect your car before you drive it! Love the no hands driving while on the cell phone!😵 :18, 3:02. Why don't people realize you can still talk while having breathing problems! Police doctors!🩺🩹
so lose everything to the fire or lose all the belongings to the sprinkler. guess the second one is better in insurance eyes but if mold is present afterwards it will be a headache. but obviously it's better to save the structure and lives within rather than personal belongings.
