We like to think of our lifestyle as something called Modern Subsistence. We strive to live a life in which we can support our family by ourselves. What this means is hunting and fishing for our meat, growing our own food, making as much of our belongings ourselves, all as a way to save money and live a happy, meaningful life.
Run a grinding disc along the top edge (flat) all around so the seem is split. Tap it with a mallet, and in 2 minutes you are done, no sharp edges to waste time filing!
Hi, brother. I just got Tikka T3X 308 and Talley scope ring too. After I shoot 50 rounds, the mount loose. So, I am wondering did you used some Loctite on your mount's screws? Thank you, Bro.
how to measuring this talley scope rings sizes? in official website is written, that of the medium high rings high is 0.610 inch. and this size from where to where is taken?
Great video! From my experience- stakes tend to bend or break during insertion- not under wind load. The Y stakes fail at the indentations- and those cheap amazon ones fail considerably sooner and easier than ground hogs. I broke 3 of the orange cheapies this weekend driving them into the ground at Santa Cruz Island in Channel Islands National Park. Would be interested to see you run the test with the stakes fully driven into the ground and the load applied above the indentations.
6:24 Before you do this, make damn sure the old contents of the drum were not flammable. Vapors can be just as explosive as the former contents, and guys have gotten killed cutting into "empty" drums that exploded. I was just reading about a guy in Pennsylvania who got killed by a burn barrel last week. Another incident in Iowa killed a man who was welding on top of a barrel, using it as a workbench. Filling the drum with water before cutting into it can displace explosive vapors, if done correctly.
I cut out the bottom andmake the barrel into a tube. The draft is outstanding and I can simply kick over the barrel when cool to move it to another location.
Good vid, but you made 2 mistakes. The french flat felled seam should enclose the heam, not having it poke out as yours did. 2nd a rollrd heam all round, not just folded over will make it stronger and more hard wearing
How do you find the recoil? I've shot a Tikka T3x in .308. I wonder how much more felt recoil there would be with the .30-06. Does it seem much different than other .30-06s you've tried? Some people say the Tikka recoil seems higher for a given caliber.
Nice review. I had a very disappointing experience with a Bergara B14 30-06 that would not group or feed in spring 2023. Gun shop took it back. I ended up with a Tikka T3X in 270 and later this summer 7 Rem Mag. Both guns shot 1” out of the box. 270 with Hornady American 140gr Whitetail (5 shots at 1.14”, Win 150gr Power Point 1.2” 3 shots). 7 Rem .9” 3 shots 175gr Core Lokt bullets and 1.2” with Win Power Point 175gr bullets. Couldn’t have asked for anything better than this.
I have one in 7 mag, there’s a lot of plastic on these guns they are simple the stock isn’t the greatest but not bad, but the accuracy makes up for any of the other above. Under an inch and I’m not a crack shot. Hard to beat the accuracy
Great vid. I missed the thread diameter and the needle size that you use on silnylon. Could you please let me know? You mentioned something about the thread but I couldn't quite make it out.

I sew almost exclusively with military thread and it's tougher to get through fabric sometimes and I only use hands no machine it's cool that you Sugested for people to learn one stitch . I've been learning Bushcraft as well it is an opinion amongst people that knowing a couple. I find that having one skill in an area is a thing that is not to be. I don't know if you inadvertently had that inference. But monsters work is not the greatest the thread will wreck the fabric before the fabric will not too good. My stichwork isn't the greatest I do backstitching over and over again or weave over and under in a simple loop. I know it may be a cliche but it's fun to learn. And I hope to teach my son and daughter some sewing skills and knotts skills as well anything I can teach them that we'll build their life. I found your encouraging. video also appreciate it. I subscribed and I hope you can be appreciated by many thank you.
So your method on making a burn barrel is, get a 205L drum and put holes in it ! Didnt need a 14 minute video to explain that!!! Can I suggest researching SMOKE FREE BURN BARRELS? They are worth a 15 min DIY video.....
If u tired to do this in the uk, the environment agency would be on you like a ton of bricks, they have me a 4K fine for “harming nature” by removing a log… wth
