Hi! I'm doing a video series about the ecology of Pokemon! I'm in need of assistance in every way imaginable. Help me out here: Discord: flakaby Email: professorflakaby@gmail.com
I have learned something about the marowak dojo: 1. Only escape orbs, orans, and poke spawn down there, so free healing and escape orbs 2. The kecleon shops reset after dojo runs, so if you find yourself with an abundance of poke, or you really want a certain shop item, you can reroll the shops pretty quickly
The reason why Charmander is shown with a full set of teeth while the others in its line largely have bare mouths may simply be for expressiveness' sake and possibly also animator/artist laziness/simplicity, I'm not sure, lol. But like that scene of Charmander getting scared by a Haunter, I don't think that expression would have the same impact if it simply showed Charmander's fangs and not a full set of teeth.
I'm not sure if Skarmory is actually retracting its neck in its sprite animation or if it's simply largely that perspective makes it seem like that's what's happening there, with perspective being very hard to portray properly in single flat sprites.
Wait maybe eevees are so rare just based off of 0:32 and the visual of eevee evolving into flareon its because they are evolving more then they are reproducing and so they are hiding in their new habitats areas your wouldnt specifically find a eevee
This would be fascinating to listen to, but I can barely hear you talking over all of the background noise, even after it’s been turned up. And turning it up on my end just blasts my ears out via the music. Keep up the work, cant wait to see better stuff, because there’s real potential here
Some notes; I think the evolution from Sneasel to Weavile vs Sneaseler makes sense if you assume an increase in population of Sneasel. Remember that Sneasel requires a Razor Claw to evolve and there are no natural ways of finding a Razor Claw. With Sneaseler being more solitary pokemon, and maybe having their own disputes, Razors Claws were more common due to individual Sneaselers battling it out and one party winning, leaving the remains out for others to find. Essentially it created a steady supply of Razor Claws that could be used for evolution. However, if a population boom happened due to human intervention, the avaiability of Raozr Claws would go down because of the protectionism that humans would perform (as you don't want your Sneaseler battling it out often of if so, at least you have other pokemon to defend it when things go rough). With the decrease in Sneaselers and an increase in Sneasels (due to capture, breeding and release programs) it would make sense that at some point, the evolution from solitary hunters to pack hunters would arise from the reduction of Razor Claws making evolving into Weavile a more sound option. Remember that Weavile does get the move "Beat Up", which basically allows for all pokemon in the party to take a swing at the offending pokemon. A great move for Pack Hunting which means that its great for the Head of the Pack; Weavile, being the only one to get a Razor Claw and then evolve with it. This also makes sense since the shift from Fighting/Poison type to Ice/Dark(Evil) type would explain their more pack mentality and their shift in hunting style. Instead of being able to perform singular hit and run tactics, they have moved into being pack hunters that gain a resistance to their prey instead of an advantage.
5:28 I wouldn't say "artist laziness" per se, but I would say stylization. from a character design standpoint, fletchling is purposely designed to be a bit simple, and look like what a child might imagine a "chick" to look like, so the feet having no claws might have just helped that design aspect become more clear
I'd like to mention the arrows are *all* reversed. In ecology, arrows represent the flow of energy and nutrients, so they go from prey to predator, not the other way around.
Hey good video but in the future please turn your voice volume way way up and your background music way down. You sound so quiet it makes the video hard to watch
What I find interesting is that there are entries about Charmeleon that describe their tails as not just dexterous, but strong enough to lift multiple grown men. My idea is that this Pokemon is an active hunter that evolved to use it's body for subduing prey, making it much more physically utilitarian than it's other stages. This is especially true when you notice that it's stats take greater advantage of its Physical moves compared to Charizard's more Special capabilities (minus it's X Mega Form).
your editing, image choice, and sound effects are top tier!!! higher volume and bit slower pace would make this perfect. love the concept and idea!! want more!
This is the exact kind of series ive been in the mood for. Just having a bit of a hard time hearing it. Can someome who makes eclogy inspired pokemon shirts (especiaply buttonups) sponsor this?
Have you consider doing a video on pokemon that could be more domesticated than others and how that could impact their habitat? Like cats that kill a ton of pray jut for fun causing huge problems in their habitats?
I'd love to see/make some sort of project that makes a better listing of where things actually live when they don't have to worry about gameplay balance, fanbase pandering, and the fact that modern gen mons don't appear in past regions. Like, I imagine that Talonflame, as the analogue for the Peregrine Falcon, would be found in ALOT more places than it is, and there are probably alot of encounters from Poke Radar or HGSS radio that wouldn't be there if not for gameplay neccesity Also, It would be very interesting to come up with an ecology when you have stuff like large Geovores (or whatever you'd call a mineral-eater), Mineral-based lifeforms, and whatever you'd class a Ghost as. Probably would ignore some of the Dex Entries that are nonsensically extreme like Magcargo or Machamp
This is the pokemon world. They tend to be eco-minded and on top of these matters. So the waters around the dock is likely quite clean. If it wasn't then the tree in the center probably wouldn't be doing as well as it seems.
Amazing video, I would only ask to flip the arrows when it comes to predator and prey relationship. They should be pointing from prey towards predator to indicate the direction of energy passing between trophic levels. When I was much younger I remembered this as the predator opens its mouth (the arrow head <) and the tongue (the arrow stem -) goes to what it’s eating
The most interesting bit between Corsala and Mareanie, the SOS call of Corsala is has the chance to summon a mareanie, so while most of the time, Corsola is doing a call for help, sometimes their predator might show up.
I really liked the video. But it's kind of hard to hear you. Overall of the sound effects. Maybe turn your voice audio up or turn the background noise down a bit? You get drowned out a bit by everything else going on and I can't hear you.
In addition to what other people have said about the volume, could you also maybe speak a bit slower? This sounds like such a fascinating subject but you're going way too fast for me to process what you're saying,
It's videos like this that remind me why I love Alola! One of my favorite regions for sure with so much thought and consideration put into its worldbuilding.
There’s gotta be something wrong with my headphones cause you’re voice is louder than the subtle background music for me and everyone else is saying the opposite lmao
