I'm ADHD, probably AuDHD (only have the former officially diagnosed for now) and I have a very irregular work/effort output, which has always been an issue at school then at work. It always hurts to hear "if only you took less breaks, with your productivity, imagine how much you would achieve", because people who say this don't realize that if I don't take all of those breaks, that amazing productivity goes down the drain too, and you only get slow and poorly done work out of me. I realize it's inconvenient for planning and coordination, but that's how it is, you have to look at my productivity as an average over time. I'm a sprinter, not a marathon runner. Or like a surfer waiting for the next wave of energy and motivation. There can't be waves constantly, by definition they come and go. I NEED that amount of rest to be my best self. Also simply in terms of my happiness and health, because productivity is not everything, damnit.

You can make a lasagne with a tin of lentils, tomatoes etc. Or a simple curry with rice, sauce and kidney beans. So many things. Or pasta with veg or lentils. Tofu stir fry. Quick simple meals that don't cost much at all. Take a look at The Happy Pear on RU-vid. They have loads of recipes. Keep it simple would be my advice and then build it up from there.

I had my hair shaved once. This was actually the sign of my self destruct tendencies. I was suffering from deep depression in my late teens, and my parents were totally misunderstanding everything. They were like "if you'd be learning like you should, you'd have no time for being depressed". I wanted to scream, often cried. Once I have painted my hair, face and hands with some leftover enamel paint from painting walls, because I didn't want to go to school (they forced me to go even if I was genuinly sick). I was really in a bad shape and even looking back, I needed to rest. After that I tried to get rid of the paint, but it stayed on my hair. So I had no choice, but to shave it. I couldn't wait my hair to grow back. I wore a wig, but I still felt bad about it, as my natural hair was way thicker, shinier and had nicer color. It also had a natural white strand above my left ear, which I really loved - it looked so cool, like it was from a fantasy movie. I felt stuck for like 1.5 years (my thick hair do not fall down util they're at least 10cm long, and even then they tend to look pulled up; think of an afro, but from straight hair standing upright) looking like I didn't want to look. Now, when I'm a mother and a homemaker, I don't have time for daily combing or such, yet I'd never go even for short hair. I just discovered hairstyles that do not require too much care and look OK. So whenever I need to, I can look really good. I have long, heavy hair, but after learning more about actual haicare, I've learnt how to care for them to save time and especially - money. And as for cutting them - I've been cutting hair myself for like forever. Nowadays there are really good tutorials for various long haistyles. I always cut myself (yes, myself!) by layering. And all I need is just a comb, some water, haiband, good scissors and like 30 minutes - mostly for combing. And I do it only once a year. So in my case shaving a head was not liberating, it was a sign of a sickness.

@@thediaryofnow Sure, but what I meant is that it's not empowering or anything positive by default. Hair, especially female hair, has it's own meaning in culture. There are African tribes, where women shave their heads, no exceptions. But in other cultures hair is a sign of feminity, health, prosperity etc. "Every woman should shave at least once" is not a good idea.

@@thediaryofnow Oh, I've forgotten to mention: in the ancient Greece shaved head was a sign of enslavement. And as for more modern times: shaving head was a common punishment for women, who were dating German Nazi soldiers in occupied Europe. And this was considered a really harsh punishment for a woman. I've also heard about modern times women who were abused, that their oppressors shaved them, even if it made no sense - I mean if you rape somebody, you propably would want them to look appealing to you, but for some reason, they shaved their victims. Propably as a sign of power or something. I don't mean to argue anymore, as you have written, to each their own. I just want to show that shaving female hair has culturally more dark, diminishing meanings, than empowering ones. But I'm also against the demonisation of female baldness. I'd hate to see people making fun of shaved women, whatever the reason. For me it's something like getting a tattoo or jewelry with some symbols: do you know what that means? Are you OK with those meanings? And... is that really you?

Great idea but how. If you tell your employer you're struggling, you're a problem and employers get rid of problems. NDs are already suffering a higher unemployment rate and if you can string a sentence together, you can forget about PIP or any other benefit. The vast majority of people do not care about ND. I'd love a break but instead I'm running on three hours sleep because of having to deal with other people and their mess ups. No one else will pick that up. I agree about burnout but what do you do when you have no option. You go until you can't and then you crash. I hope your other viewers have better luck but realistically it doesn't happen for most NDs.

I think what we also need to remember is we try so hard and to be honest, don't need to, much of the time. No wonder we're exhausted. I've realised this and am putting in less effort at work and it's been fine. The 100% is us pushing ourselves above and beyond cos we've felt criticised or inadequate but mostly no one notices if you can function and do your job just putting in less effort. Thanks a lot! I don't agree with veganism or similar concepts, but I belive it's crucial to define clearly what we're discussing. For example I had to tell my friends, who call themselves vegetarian, that the're pescatarians, because they eat fish. Actually there is a long tradition of pesca-ovo-lacto-vegetarian diet during religious fasting. There's even a traditional term for such diet and foods: "jarosz/dieta jarska/jarski". And there arouses a huge misconception that we have huge population of vegans and vegetarians, because those two groups tend to be bunched up together for statistics. So it looks like we have supposedly 1/10 popularion living sorely by eating plants, while such lifestyle is incredibly rare. And I come from a big city.

I eat a mostly WFPB diet (no meat, fish, dairy or eggs but occasional vegan junk food). I still wear leather products I had before changing my lifestyle. Does that make me non vegan? Plant based is a good term but the general population don't understand the difference, so I just identify as vegan

Hi ya. I think most vegans have worn leather that they had previously owned. I no longer do but I’ve been vegan for nearly 9 years. The whole "you were never vegan" idea is exactly why people consider veganism a religion or cult, and not just a life-style → the "you were never a vegan" take is the result of what is known as a "purity spiral". The more vegans that adopt this extreme mindset, the faster Veganism will disappear because it's such a turn-off. Purity spiraling destroys movements because it *_ALWAYS_* results in shrinking membership, and often erodes support from external, adjacent groups. Your're going to become more and more isolated with fewer and fewer people wanting to play with you.

I'm a high masking autistic woman that didn't find out until late 20s, and the prevalence of my strange experiences was so well known that friends would say that my life was like a TV show. I couldn't explain how or why I'd end up in such strange situations. Luckily, for the most part... there are some that were harmful... these situations were completely harmless, just weird. I still end up in the harmless situations from time to time, but now that I know (and am open about who I am/don't mask as much), I'm better at saying "nope" to offers that lead to the dangerous situations. It's also easier to make better decisions about who to become friends with when you're open about being autistic... lol, the awful people just stop talking to you or refuse to accept.
