To paraphrase Darth Vader "Impressive. Most impressive.: The 10-18 had done you well." I know I am a few years late but this is the kind of video I love, filled with images!
With the CF to SD adaptor did you have any issues with compatibility? How large of an SD card were you able to use? I use SD cards in my other cameras and would prefer those if I bought the H3Dii. Great photos. I love that CCD sensor look.

works great with that adapter, I think I got up to 32 GB or 64 GB but i have a fast shooting style and the camera can handle it - it's a lovely experience!
LG
I love that 135 f2 as well. Wonderful images. The 6D is a good camera, but you would've been successful with any brand because you have an eye for composition. Bravo.
Very inspiring video Dirkson.... thank you for doing this for all of us!!! One question... I saw that you use especially prime lenses! So... What are your favorite zoom lences? I saw your 24-70 2.8... is there anything else that should I consider in my mind?? And plz... for the rainy day which one lence did you use? I am not a photographer but I want to buy a 6D mark I... I'm in love with photography and in a special way I love this kind of colours that they are like you are seeing a movie... so so good colours... so much life in them!!!!!

6D or even 6D II are still great cameras. I have a videos like that also from the 6D II, check it out. I used the Sigma 35 Art lens in the rain. I dont use zoom lenses, i would get a 50mm f1.8 and a full frame camera like the 6D and thats all you need for the beginning.
One more Question... Why you don' t use the zoom lences? What is the main reason that someone prefers to use only primes? I'm sorry... I am so new in the photography mystery... I' m trying to understand... I love your job! Amazing results!!!!!
I am debating between 5d iii and 6d. I recently bought canon RP but looking for the second camera. Don't mind to have a DSLR. Or maybe another RP should do the job. I fall in love with you work on 135 mm lens.
Hi Jannis, I'd be grateful for your expert opinion on the 6D vs the 6D Mk 2. The reason I ask is that I currently have a 6D, and am thinking of switching to the Mk 2 because it has new and useful features. The original 6D has a fantastic sensor for landscape photography, which is my main genre. How does the Mk 2 sensor compare to the original 6D sensor please? I'm particularly interested in the "colour science" and dynamic range aspects. Thank you.

color is similar, I find the flip out screen to be of excellent value and you can touch to focus which also works great. It also got super cheap, I bought my 3rd one for 600 Euros/Dollars.
Thanks, I really value your opinion. The flip screen would be really useful for landscape photography. I think I will buy one when I see a good used example. As you say it represents fantastic value for money!
I just bought a used 6D (27k shutter count). I’m really excited to use it! For context, I am a professional photographer, and have been for the last 7 years. I use an R6 Mark II as my main camera currently, but I want to use it as a dedicated video camera, so I bought a 6D Mk 1 as my main stills camera.
A little hint about that wonderful CCD sensor. The native ISO is 50. When the photographer chooses a higher sensitivity, the program adds gain to do so. Phocus adjustment in post processing makes it happen. Mirror slap will challenge the photographer when hand held. The H3D is a specific set of artists paints and brushes. Amazing images await you.

hand held actually works well, even with street portraits with people moving. you kind of only use the center focus point but even wide open it doesn't miss, great to work with even for portraits without tripod.
You cannot compare the new features enjoyed today full frame 35 mm style sensors to the H3D. They are in a different class. You must use a medium format camera in a much different way and with it a different style. My first camera bought in 1973 was a Mamiya RB 67 with a variety of lenses, then Bronica's. I never owned a 35 mm camera until 2002 when I purchased a Canon 1DS because the digital wave forced me to do so. My life was a camera on the tripod and a meter in hand. My world was to create and not record. I did not need the automation of the Canon until my career sent me to sea as a scientific photographer on a research vessel. My main job was to record the science and the scientist as they discovered and uncovered Earth secrets. I had to be extremely mobile and fast. I has two Hasselblad H3D-39 but they stayed in the cabinet well away from the possibility of sea spray contamination. I only used them for special images, again mounted on a tripod. These cameras are special tools needed to do different jobs. What would modern day mirrorless shooters say if they had to use a 4x5 view camera. I expect they would give it terrible reviews. If you want to separate yourself and your photography from the madness of the crowd, embrace the color and the quality of the H3D. The people who view the images will love them but they won't know why for it is subjective and subtle. Be that dreamer.
That’s awesome. Very well articulated perspective and I couldn’t really agree more! Sounds like quite the interesting photographic career journey btw😊 Medium format photography really has a unique quality unto itself. Only really upstaged by large format of course, but I can’t say that I know of anyone shooting much serious studio work on a 4x5+ camera in the last 100 years 😂
The amount of selective focus with a standard or normal lens is very nice. This is a look which medium format share. The images remind me of the Yashica Matt 124 which was a sharp yet softness if those two words can be used in conjunction to verbally describe the feel of the image quality.
Hi, for photography only, how do you find continuous AF for moving subjects? Is it any good & can it track quick moving subjects' eyes & faces effectively? I know the FPS is low, but its the servo AF performance I'm interested in. Thanks!
Месяц назад
yes, tracking is excellent and not much different from newer cameras like the R6II (I have 2 of them). The downside for me is poor battery life and strange colors on the screen (HDR look) - the Eos R has it also, the newer cameras like R5 and R6 not. It does not affect the colors of the image, the images look just HDR like and oversaturated on the screen.
Hiya, thanks for your reply & experience with the AF; that sounds very positive & reassuring! I've read a lot of negative comments about the AF. But if you have first hand, real world experience, especially professionally, then that's really fantastic to hear you praise the AF! Strange about the screen colours, I've not heard that before. All the best
Seriously a comparison of the EF 50 mm f/1.2 L vs the f/1.8 II STM? This is seriously the worst comparison. Why don't you compare a Mercedes-Benz against a Toyota Corolla? That's exactly what you're doing. There are zero similarities to either one of those lenses to either one of those cars. Why don't you compare the Canon EF 50 mm f 1.2 l to its counterpart from Nikon. It's counterpart from Zeiss. That would be a fair comparison
I cant decide between one of these or an orginal sony a7. I think a7 will have better image quality but i still miss the canon snesor characteristics

@@Phuzz828 a7 has horrible battery , menu and af is also not up to date. I'd go for a a7iii used or a 6d ii, these are great options with the sony being better in video. An eos r is also quite cheap now.
If anyone wants the best portrait lens which is super sharp and gives the best bokeh I've seen in a long time purchase the sigma 105/1.4 u will thank me later. It's heavy and big but man oh man them shots u get from it are just out of this world.

Your images ae fantastic. I sense the nostalgia for the Hasselblad H3D, the once "object of desire." I am now similarly confronted with choosing to purchase the Hasselblad X1D II 50C 50MP Medium Format used or a new Sony A7R. As a hobbies given the choices, which would you now choose? Hey, there's an idea for a video, wont you say?

@@RickMentore the x1d ii is amazing and got super cheap on the used market. So camera wise definitely the Hasselblad. But all lenses are expenses and with the f1.4 and f1.2 lenses on the Sony side, lenswise I'd go with Sony, but Sony will not give you the feeling that the Hasselblad will.
Thank you for the review, although 3 years old now. I am returning to photography and going back to Canon. I have picked out the Canon 6D MK2 used in mint condition for £750 with just 2000 activations. Bargain. Also an EF 24 to 105 II USM for £700, again Used and both came with a 1 year warranty.

The 6 DII is still great, I still use it with the R6 II for Video. I would pick up a 50mm f1.8 prime lens, much better "look" than the zoom lens there.
Ive had a 6D for what seems forever and am about to order the MK2. I love how you do self-portraits and would love to try that myself. Can you tell what model trigger/receiver you are using as it seems to work really well?
