Hmm, did a RedHat Linux install on my Amiga 3000D back in the day for an article in a magazine. That worked just fine with a Cybergraphics 64/3D (I think) I will dig around for the magazine, pretty sure I have it somewhere. That would be fun to do again 🙂
Pretty sure you already know that, you can dd the files on a scsi drive of your choice, instructions on amigaunix de. Its in german but no problem for you with relatives from Düsseldorf :).
I was recently trying to remember putting Toasters in 3000's but couldn't recall. As soon as i heard "hacked case" it all came flooding back. I never liked doing it but I was just the one putting them togethers.
Nice, chunky HD looks like an IBM Corsair….first drive to use MR heads, developed in the UK. Fast drive for its time but loud and hot! I was working at IBM in the 90s…good times.
You need a plain old SCSI QIC150 tape drive for those UX tapes. I used to run one for backups on my A4000 wiyh an Oktagon SCSI HBA (Host Bridge Adapter). Remember that you can use the Zulu to take image copies off those old SCSI drives as stand-alone. Just add power and a SCSI cable.
They did. The 3000UX was supplied with an A3070 external SCSI tape streamer because there's not enough room to fit one internally. The 2500UX had one in the 5 1/4" drive bay.
hey chris, quick question, ever thought about converting pc floppys,so you have some laying around in case of broken amiga floppies, the pc floppies is not going to be around forever.
I remember our Tech said he was running a Unix system for his BBS and ISP service. A4000T? I put Bigfoot power supplies in all my A2000s due to using up all the slots & for the hard drives (Quantum Fireballs, Micropolis Atlas, Seagate, etc) otherwise it was seriously unstable.
cool video.ive not long had my gotek and I'm having a problem when saving a game or career in SWOS it will work ok then suddenly after a while i get disk error come up for no reason. its happened twice now the first time was half way through my a season in career mode and the last time i had completed the full season in career mode saved it and the next time i came to play it the save disk said disk error. any idea's why? has anyone in the comments had this? or does any one play swos with a gotek and have it saving ok i cant work out why it does it
Hmmm, see my AstroAI 2.0 6L mini fridge won't do anything. No lights light up, no nothing. The power cord itself is good, but I'm not sure where to go from there to diagnose the issue..
This video was a good find but I'm late to the party. I have an Amiga 2000 with calico drive bezels for ZuluSCSI and Gotek drives that I'd like to color match to the rest of the front. Found the Krylon Satin Pebble (which is pretty close) but Matte Greige is nowhere to be found-where did you find it and do you know if it's still out there? There's also a Farmhouse Greige from Rust-Oleum. Wondering if you have any 2024-era advice before we start applying various spray tans.
