That was absolutely brilliant dude. That is one of my fav Vinnie albums, but that track is killer and you nailed it. No easy feat. Kit sounds great, and the video looks amazing. I wouldn't be upset to see you do some Enzo Tedesco covers from the Live in Montreal album. Oh hell, I'll just out and out request Brother to Brother.
@@TheShiftydog hahaha, thanks brother. And your wish is my command. I was messing around with the Montreal brother to brother as well as the 2013 version that has the really cool 6/8 nanigo section in it and shot it Sunday, 2013, not Enzo's. I'll have that up within the next week or two. Also did seek and you shall find. So I've got a couple things coming up!
Man, that Maple Gum bass has such great loud attack/crack. Isn't the drumming community on RU-vid fantastic. So many great drummers like you Jeff, so many great ideas, comparisons, demos, etc. Love it.
Man, listening through my in ears the phone sounds much better than expected. I’m surprised to say that I like blues floors better and reds racks better

Both kits sound good Jeff even on phone audio!!! Would be cool though with a side by side miced up comparison but not sure that it would be worth the work to do that. Now all you need is a white kit so you can have a patriotic kit!!! lol... Thanks for sharing.
Very nice playing Jeff and the drums sound great!!! Love Gino Vannelli, he always had the best musicians on his albums. Time for me to go back and pull those recordings out!!!
Masterworks sound great. A lot of high end expensive equipment that should sound great. Getting a great sound with mediocre equipment now that’d be impressive. 😊
Thank you for making our snare drum sound great....but you can make anything sound good! My wife and I own Worldmax USA. Those brass shells are sold as shell only to drum builders all over the world, many of which are big custom companies. And of course our parent company makes the completed drum. I'll just add that the single flange hoops are brass as well as the lugs...so with the hoops, lugs and shell all being brass the resulting sound is very musical and easy to Sonically manipulate! Just great man. As I said om FB. This is a hard song to play since it breathes so much. And also the crosstick very much like a more modern Vinnie sound. Amazing!
This is one of those songs that I have been rediscovering every few years since I first heard it in the 80's. Every time I hear it, I always think, "Man, I love Vinnie's playing on this and should just sit down and learn this song!" But, lazy me, I never took the time to work it all out. Great job!
Me too! I started listening to NW & B-Brother when I drove up to pick up the blue kit in July. Then 2 weeks ago I zeroed in on a few which is what you're seeing now/going to see soon. Great tunes and obviously great drumming by Vinnie & Mark
@@JeffWald They almost sound like a xylophone at low tuning. I saw a video of Neil Peart doing a solo that involved him using a xylophone. Those maple gum toms would fit well in that scenario.
Agreed. I've been rediscovering him recently and totally digging it. The only albums I've got are B-B and Nightwalker but have heard the stuff w/ Graham Lear is great too, so I'll have to dig deeper :)
Hey Matthew, its a Pearl rack (prob 10yrs old) and I had it powder coated in 2016 - like even the memory locks. Its not black, its a deep dark brown which goes nicely when I have the red/gold kit up and looks almost like black nickel with the blue kit on it. But yeah - all Pearl
Jeff what is the hardware setup on the blue kit I just purchased a new set and LOVE the look could you tell me what the individual pieces that it took to build the rack because it's so well done it's almost invisible and I ABSOLUTELY ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ IT!

What a fantastic sound your drums have, and how precise, and what a perfect touch you have in playing: it seems you have a built-in metronome. I am a new member of yours, and little by little I am listening to your performances. Then you are one of the few drummers who plays barefoot: excellent thing to have a total feeling with the drums. Obviously it is a question of personal choices, between the various footwear, or barefoot, but the touch you get barefoot is in my opinion the best.
@@JeffWald yep. Anything Pearl makes always sounds good. My first set when I was first playing was a Pearl World set. 1983. Not sure of the construction, but they sounded great. Have had multiple pearl sets over the years, and they always sounded great.
Bravo Maestro. Did you play the exact parts or is this your rendition? If you are playing Mark’s parts how long did it take to memorize. To concur with all the other comments, your drums sound other worldly! Congrats!
Thanx brother! No, I listened several times to this and a few other GV classics (B-B, Nightwalker & Seek and you will find) and I just started screwing around with them all on Monday. I memorized the form but did do a few things I dug that Mark did - the 16th HH pattern w/ the accent on the "e" - so classy, the vibe of some of his fills. I also switched to the groove that Enzo & Reinhardt did - the snare on the & of 2 in the 3rd verse (I think) and then combined them all in the last verse.
Nice!! Very nice rendition. It’s always nice to learn the artists recorded versions, but so personal and pleasurable when you add your personal touch to it once you learn the material. You did a great job of that !!!!!! drum🥁on ✌️
