Thats because you went cheap end chrome delete you probably went for the "deal" real chrome delete the body shop should strip away the chrome, then primer and paint it.
With a close look at maintenance history and a solid PPI, yes it would. They are way better than their reputation, but still have some funds set aside for maintenance and service.
What I try to explain in this review is that the xdrive50i trim gets CLOSE to that arena of performance (X5 M, GLE63, Supercharged RR). My point is that it offers a lot of value, considering the acceleration, power, creature comforts, etc. as a cheaper alternative to the range-topping M's and AMG'S. I'm quite aware that the real X5 M is the direct competitor to GLE63, etc. and that this is more of a direct comparison to a GLE43 or ML550. Thank you for watching.
You're close to correct...except that they never made a GLE550. They made an ML550 until 2014, then it became the ML400 with the 3.0 biturbo V6, and then in 2016 when the ML turned into the GLE, the engine choice between the 350 and the 63 AMG became the 43 AMG with the twin turbo V6. But yes, overall you're correct that the X5 xDrive50i is not a true '63 AMG competitor. The point of my video is that, especially with a tune, it comes awfully close value-wise to the X5 M and its competitors.
Unfortunately I traded it for a much less reliable car. If I was smart, I would have kept it forever. Zero issues, as expected, and I parted with it at 114k miles.
Can someone please try and explain why on all these videos these days people try and record the exhaust sound right at the exhaust?? I don't understand the trend. It sounds terrible! You're audio devices can't capture the sound that close.... Never worked once.
Thanks! Naturally life happens and I end up not making more videos on it yet, but I just ordered downpipes and high performance coils for it, taking it in for a tune by Xmas, so that should be a fun improvement! Although stock power is still quite strong.
Thanks Man! I'll get a proper video with real editing and quality going up soon lol. This was just a quick announcement. Mine has been rock solid so far from 64k miles to 73k miles. Drives perfect, no codes, all the power, does everything so well! Good luck on your search. You'll love it.
Thanks! Yes I agree, no one truly needs the power of the X5M, or even this, but it sure is fun! I just think the 50i is a better daily and all-around driver to put miles on. I love the seats in the M, but the double clutch trans is a little clunky for traffic that I'm often in, and everything is just a wee bit more expensive, esp when I take into account the light offroading that I do. I'd rather be in the cheaper car that still has a TTV8 lol!
I just bought a 2015 X5 eDrive50i a couple of days ago. Totally love it! Enjoying your laughter when you accelerate, I’ve been doing that a bunch the last couple of days :)
Haha thanks! I actually have bought one since this video! Totally intending to pick up making videos again but life has been getting in the way, and gopro broke. However, sooner than later you'll be seeing a video of me showing off my new-to-me 2017 xDrive50i, which I always really knew was the perfect car for me. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours! Acceleration still makes me laugh!
This was a couple of years ago at this point, and they didn't do a great job, since they painted over the chrome instead of wrapping it or stripping then painting, but it cost about $500.
Haha thanks man, I hope to soon! Next video will be my new V8 twin Turbo X5! I've gotten to the point of working 60 hour weeks and child care in all of my spare time, so borrowing cars, filming and editing has been tough, but I will be back soon! Promise! Thanks for your interest as always!
@@TheZListCars oh mannnnn! I literally was pushed over the fence on getting my f15 50i because of your video on it! I've had it since last August and I love it! Congrats on the new ride Matt!
@@TheZListCars in your review of it you mentioned that you'd like to have one of your own one day, if in the right position. 2023 will be our year! Looks like it's already becoming your's!
My husband just bought me one of these; it's my first BMW. I love the car, but I'm not thrilled with its value right now compared to it's original price. I plan on keeping it for a while, but expected it to hold its value a bit better. Though I'm sure there's something related to the current economy. Nevertheless, it's a blast to drive and the gas mileage is much better than I expected for a V8.
It’s market value drops rapidly due it’s legendary reputation for very poor long term reliability & very high maintenance costs with age & miles. They’re known to suffer oil leaks that are expensive to repair, turbo failures & many, many, many electronic system challenges. Porsche & Audi SUVs are in the same boat. BMW, Porsche & Audi do not build vehicles to hold up well for more than 3 years &/or 100 k+ miles, even if they’ve been well maintained. The very best BMWs are brand new & leased for 3 years & sold after the lease.
@@adelvecchio1029, stick to a rigid maintenance schedule as per the owner’s manual & that’ll help you stay ahead of many issues before they become major.
Thanks. I just bought one! I had a kid and haven't had the time to make videos in over a year, but within the next couple of weeks a full review on my 2017 X5 xDrive50i M-Sport in Alpine White with Mocha Interior Design package should be uploaded!
Good Catch! Yes, I used to be a big 'Nectar fan and saw his shows all over the country. However, after all of the accusations and allegations, that sticker has long since been removed. I don't know what's been proven and what's not, but I didn't want to be driving around representing him if it was true.
@@2001waldo Hah! That's funny. We are getting off of the eBay platform ASAP. It doesn't work for our business. We're a one-price/no-haggle store, and eBay bidders all seem to think they can get a car for 40% off by using eBay lol.
I have the Xdrive50i with the M Sport package. (That means it has an m motorsport upgrade but isn't the X5M. Mine has 440 hp and the X5M has a jaw dropping 550hp). This thing is a beast. In the m sport, it's faster than a Ferrari F355, Porsche 911 SE4 and even the Skyline GT-R can't hang. I smoked 550 amgs, I cannot tell you how much fun this thing is and you can take your family and pound the subs
Awesome. My RU-vid channel has been on pause for a year due to having a baby and working like a dog, but I just actually bought a 2017 X5 50i M Sport today with Mocha Interior Design package and much more. Video coming soon. I love this thing soooo much, and yes you're right, it's a beast!
Great review! Random question: I test drove a 2013 and loved it as it was peppy. Then test drove 2016 and it felt a lot more sluggish and less responsive. Is there an explanation for this? Is there different tuning? Much thanks.
Looks great. Is there a reason you just didn't plasti-dip everything? On all my cars, trucks and my kid's cars I used Plasti-Dip with glossifier. Stands up to car washes, etc for years. in fact I've not had a Plasti-dip failure yet
Just purchased a 2014 GX460 and my wife and I love it. I’m glad you touched on the cons more than the pros, the only negatives they have are mostly fuel economy and using high octane gas.
I would - they are definitely an attractive, luxurious, and refined family vehicle that has great safety features. I would opt for warranty coverage if possible, as they have a supercharged AND turbocharged 4-cylinder in the T6 and T8 trims.
Yes we love it. We have a fully loaded 2016 90,000 miles with the extended warranty. T6 with polestar, roof rails, cargo cover. Like he said the interior does not feel cheap at all. Like having a car that not to much people are driving where we live at.
I have a 750I M sport 45k, I had one fuse I needed to change 2 times. The warranty is almost up. Olive warranty is what I am going to get next just in case. Keep it serviced!
Despite being a larger vehicle with a larger engine that consumes more fuel, I think the space inside is very similar. You get the GX because you want the truck platform, rugged off-road capability, 8-cylinders, and Lexus refinement Highlander is a great value though - might be a better buy for folks who are just looking for space.
All recent BMW's with the M Sport package come with the "M Sport" steering wheel. It has an M badge on the wheel. If yours doesn't have that package, even if it is a 50i, it won't have that badge.
@@TheZListCars thanks for the reply. However, I am more confused. The exterior of the x5 has no other M markings only the steering wheel. I believe that the steering wheel might have been replaced. If it had the M package it should have external markings and it doesn’t.
@@kenmcdonaldii3887 M Sport cars are designated by the wheels, the shadowline trim, and the different bodywork (mainly bumpers). Not all of them have M badging. M is not in the name of the X5 xDrive50i. Now the newer BMW's are a different story. A base X3 is just an xDrive30i with a 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The 6-cylinder turbo version is called the X3 M40i. It's an "M Performance Car", a la M235i, M240i, X5 M50i, M340i. Those "M Performance" bridge the gap between the base engines and the full-on M model. However, in this F15 generation of X5, the xDrive50i was not considered an "M Performance" Car. It simply had the larger engine, and could be had with an M Sport package, which did NOT designate exterior M badging. Trust me on this - I worked at a BMW dealership for years. I can assure you the steering wheel was not swapped. If it was from an X5 M it would have M-colored stitching on the steering wheel. This has a factory steering wheel. Hopefully this all makes sense. Sorry for the long response.
You need to make more car reviews! You really are great at this and showcasing cars the way you do. A m235 or 240 would be a great review to do next! Haha
Thanks man! I know, I really need to. I had my first child arrive 6 months ago and I work 60 hours per week and I just rarely ever have time for RU-vid anymore. Hopefully by the end of the year I can get a few more videos out. I love doing it and my quality improves little by little, the early ones were rough, but I'm getting a little better with each one.
What's funny is I actually owned an M235i for 3 years and loved it! Black over Red - great car with M Performance exhaust. I'd love to get my hands on one again to review.
@@TheZListCars you should! It's a popular car, so I'm sure it'd get a lot of views, 35 or 40. Also CONGRATS on the baby! Hope all are healthy and well 🙌👶
I know this is an older video, but still relevant! Just picked up a f15 x5 50i like the one here over the last weekend. I know the G series are out now but man, this is still such a great car. So much power and really pretty comfortable. Like you said too, pretty well equipped still too tech wise if you have the execute and drivers assistance packages. Android auto and Apple car play might be the ONLY things in my opinion that it could benefit from, but also that's an easy thing to add aftermarket if you're willing to spend like $500 to do it, easy peasy. Great video, thanks!
Thanks for watching and commenting, and congrats on your purchase! I still think they remain a tremendous all-around vehicle when you consider the performance, and a relatively strong value even still. A highly-optioned example is really something special
@@TheZListCars Couldn't agree more!! Thank you again for the awesome videos. Between this and the e90 m3 I feel like I can do it all now. I finally have something more practical. I almost picked up a lightly used 7, maybe a G12, but i'm glad I went with the F15 x5. It's literally 99% of the luxury as the 7 (many of the same finishings) but with that SUV practicality too! It'd be great if you could get your hands on a F85 x5m or better yet the current one, to do a review video on. You'd make a great video out of that
I know lol, it ended up being an emissions code, but I thought that was pretty funny. Was gonna try to edit it out but decided to just leave it as an easter egg lol
