We have a Fi-6010N network scanner. It is still working well. But we need to get with the times. We are heavy Adobe Pro users. Is there a network scanner that a user can scan into their Adobe Cloud account without an attached computer?
I still using ScanSnap Manager as ScanSnap Home lack 1 thing: you cannot re-scan a page in ScanSnap Viewer. You have to re-scan the page to a different file then move it to the original. I am digitizing my library by cutting books to loose page for scanning. Dust sometimes create a long white stripe over the image and I need to rescan it. With ScanSnap Manager, I can rescan during proof reading and replace the defect pages directly. But with ScanSnap Home, I cannot. A new file is create and you have to open it, drag and drop, delete the new file. A 10 second action turns into a few minute action. So bye bye ScanSnap Home.
Having a problem with scanning multiple cards at once and then the backs of those cards, but then Im wasting a lot of time having to go into changing the file name to make the front and back consecutive for using Card Dealer Pro. Now finding out that there is a PaperStream Capture software that does that but only with fi-series scanners. Any help with this?
I have an S1500M that I purchased in 2012; still going strong. My big complaint is how it handles folded documents. None of these videos ever show it scanning bills or mail received. The S1500M is excellent but its output tray (which angles up slightly) means I wind up with a pile of papers on the floor as they push each other off. How does the iX1300 handle these?
I concur. As a personal user, I’ve been using ScanSnap scanners over the past 15 years, my favorites being the ix1600 and SV600. From personal document archives to capturing scans of my children’s early drawings, both scanners have been dependable and indispensable! Also, I was reluctant to use the Home software until I had upgraded to the iX1600….its awesome!
This is an odd device. Some facets are very nicely designed but alas, the guides for the paper seem not to really work well and I get some papers that feed crooked and jam and removing the paper often is a chore that leaves it creased up. If I can figure away to get the guides to work better, this would be a great lil scanner.
Same issue. I’ve tried different settings even scanning in a dark room. The card which has a silver background scans as black. What software are people using?
It's interesting how Fujitsu has a webpage on "Strong Network of Linux Partners" and yet, they don't offer Linux software device drivers to their scanners for their customers to download.
Why can't basic editing features be added for when the auto functions don't work? I frequently need to delete and rotate pages after scanning and I don't have an Adobe license. Seems like this should be simple to do during the preview stage of the scan before filing.
I have found some tricks for best quality. Numero uno, though a pain, is to scan one page at a time with the text perpendicular to the scanner. Hold the book from the side not being scanned with the binding 90 degrees to the scanning surface to minimize the curvature of the page being scanned. If you have something black, put it against the upright page to cut down on the glare the increases the brightness at the edge of the page being scanned.
I couldn't tell how from the video how to open the roller compartment, you have to go a little wider than the rollers and it pops open. Unfortunately something on the other side has a line that goes through anything that is face down even after I cleaned the rollers and the glass. :-(
What setting are you using where it's auto-detecting multiple cards and creating an image for each? You claim it's out of the box, but I've tried every default profile, and the scanner lumps them all in one image.
More than missleading! E. g. at 0:28 min. it says that the scanner would auto-name the file. The video is quite clear about it. Just: This function doesn't exist. I couldn't find it and ScanSnap Support has confirmed that such a function doesn't exist!
Note that if you want to use any cloud features (like syncing to DropBox) you are required to register a ScanSnap account. Per the privacy policy they do share your data with 'affiliates' and they may disclose your data to ANY third party for a variety of reasons based on their sole discretion, such as several subjective reasons like 'safety of the general public' or for 'other measures against improper acts'. It sad that in this current day we, the general consumer, can not simply buy a piece of hardware and use its features without the company requiring us to waive our rights to privacy.
For those concerned about following federal laws like HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), where one can be fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for breeching the privacy of just one patient, ScanSnap is really risky.
It really sucks that you require users to create a ScanSnap Cloud account to fully license the features of the scanner, as it appears (per your privacy policy) that any uploads to cloud services such as DropBox pass through your cloud service where you have access to it, not to mention you openly share our personal information with "affiliates". Furthermore, know that the privacy policy for the account states they may also disclose your information to ANY third parties for a variety of reasons including 'safety of the general public' and for 'other measures against improper acts' based solely on their discretion. Why can't I just buy a f**king scanner and use it? Why do all these companies insist on quietly trampling on our rights and privacy in order to use all the functions of products we paid full price for? I forgot to mention that if your item is smaller than the entire scanned area you will have to manually cut out all the excess. It cannot recognize a scanned page/book. You get it all and then you have to clean it up. Major waste of time.
I am going to have to find out where to buy ScanSnap Organizer because it did not come with the ScanSnap SV600 I just purchased. Maybe that will help. There is no access to the scanner's software so there is no way to set the scanner to do anything automatically. It does not flatten pages and it CANNOT recognize 2 pages as separate entities. It does not remove fingertips. You have to spend quite a bit of time processing every single scan into a partially usable file. Fixing up the scanned file requires opening the file in 2 different programs provided by RICOH. You cannot produce useable PDFs. Also note that this is a RICOH scanner. Fujitsu is gone and so is their quality.
How can I add documents to ScanSnap home without scanning? I have some downloaded pdf receipts I would like to add and have added to appropriate folders within scan snap but they are not visible from home.
The ScanSnap Home application will only allow you to see and manage PDF files that were created by the ScanSnap Scanner. You may assign a folder which the ScanSnap Home can view, but the PDF files created outside of ScanSnap Home will not be displayed. I agree with @jamescarroll6954. Where can I find, for example, a simple explanation on backing up my scans? I recently purchased the ix1600 which is greatly different (software) than my previous ix500. So, back to backing up scans. It appears there is more than one way to do this - I'm looking for the easiest way, or let's say the "automatic" way to do this.

Is there a single document that provides a “how-to?” With all due respect, videos like this one tell “what” the product will do-they are extended commercials. Is there no demand for a “how?” It is frustrating to buy something based on “what you can do” and run into the problem of sparse information about “how to make it do what we promised” and tge frustration of trying to gather information from multiple sources.

Just bought the SV600 - getting mixed results with some warping / distortion when scanning cards (just card, no sleeve) - what are the best settings for scanning cards or when can I go to review the recommended settings for the best results. Can I set it to output Square resolution Jpeg? Can I set it to output a specific areas of the scan as Jpeg when scanning multiple items at the same time?
ScanSnap will capture and render an output in the dimension of the content being scanned. If a letter size sheet goes in, a digital image will be output in the same aspect ratio. If the content being scanned is a square, with auto-cropping turned on, the output will be rendered in the same aspect ratio of a square. lol that's the reason I'm watching this too haha! I think the two rubbery rollers are starting to wear out, and are not "circlular" anymore so they are making a "flat tire" kind of noise. I'm not sure where i can get replacements though :(
