Very interesting to see that part of your process and how you organise your landing. Assuming the scrag poles are worth more than firewood? What do they get used for? Cheers from the UK.
Is there any money in red oak these days? Such a beautiful wood, tall and straight, but the market seems to have fallen out for red oak. White oak and black walnut where it at. Those are puff palls, or earth balls, and I call those spiders triangle backs or thorny backs. They come out late August in masses.
@KevinsDisobedience I been averaging 125 a foot for my red oak export Logs. The rest I'm getting 80 cents for number 1 and 70 cents fir 2 and 3grades. All 3 different markets and buyers
@@loggerman4202 i can see that..i don't do shorts..my wife says I should have my chaps on all the time..I have saw pants but they stay in the truck..I did knick my leg last month 4 stitches and tetnis shot..comes with the territory 👍👍
@@TirnambeoDL I have actually never been there but told my wife the past few years I want to go. She always has to work on the weekends but maybe I will go. Are you going
Please help me save a tree species...PitchPine.....In old tobacco barns and in ancient eastern construction. It was the old world way of teeated wood. Actually much better than than anything we know today. There are 150 yr. old homes still sitting on pitch p🎉ine foundations....But down there they call it lightard. My dad was a sawyer on the east coast for 30 yrs. And he ran into two of them. Among millions
They want to eliminate it because it is a very slow growing tree. It's all about money and turnover..some cedar my family planted long ago has been half killed twice by the neighbors cycling òf lob lollies.
Down south if a bird shits on a fence....you have a cedar. Let's let them grow.... past the Illinois fence...they can't survive . Maybe eastern red cedar is predjustist. Lol
@KevinsDisobedience it dies look like a cucumber, there are actually a few cucumber in the area around that tulip poplar. If you want stickers pm me your name and address on my Facebook. Steve Richards titusville Pennsylvania
Really enjoy your videos man. Would love to see a bit of clean up - limbing, bucking etc. Also hooking up and skidding. Appreciate you probably don’t have time to be messing around with cameras and such though. Keep em coming 💪
@jtrocktree5409 lol. Luckily there aren't too many rattlesnake in my area, I have cut a few jobs they were on but never ran into one, we did kill a few copperheads on a couple jobs in Richardsville pa and Clear Creek St. Park
Im not in for the stickers..I'm happy with the one's you sent me..both the above comments are correct..good looking wood there..small heart on that soft maple..that be nice boards👍👍
@timfunk5084 thank you, and thanks for supporting my channel you and all my other subscribers helped me reach over 1000 subscribers so far and still growing..
@mountainmanlogging2573 you are correct. If you would like stickers pm me your name and address on my Facebook, Steve Richards. Titusville Pennsylvania
@timfunk5084 yes there are, it's kinda thick and scattered , was cut hard 20 years ago on all the big good quality timber. But there are lots of timber here to harvest
@timbarden4578 yes, I know. But it's harder making the skidding videos myself. I like them but it's a pain in the ass. I got to set up the camera way down the rd. Then walk back get on skidder ect. Lol
There is alot of so called loggers that will run over whats not log material and leave a mess. Makes it hard for the logger to find work when dipshits leave a mess
@briangroff5515 my family is into logging, I started in 1995 when I was 15 years old working with my dad. He is 70 and still logging. We're in north west Pennsylvania
Would like to do this at our event next year. Is there someone that could contact me. We live in Pennsylvania also. We are non-profit organization that helps benefit our disabled military personnel and also helps our first responders.
Nice job on the show..looks like a fun time was had by all..cool rule to have a strange chain..that could go bad but seemed everyone's cut pretty equal..one seemed jumpy but could have been little hungry👍👍
@timbarden4578 it was fun. My wife said I got in a contest when we first got together so that was 15 years ago. Bit I'm getting in another this week and another in September
